Absolutely rude and incompetent service, the front desk rep must have been high and after asking if they're artesian metals near the mall in flagstaff and hearing yes for u 12 minutes minutes I realized, unlike herself and my questions it was NOT flagstaff east location. Get it together. Horrible nasty hostile experience

Always courteous and accommodating. They have a separate weight station, North of Richie, for wide loads, that can't fit the scale on site.

If I could give one star I would. Artesia Metals does not pay their customers a fair price. A person would be much better off driving from Artesia to Carlsbad and selling their metal at Teagues. I learned this the hard way in the Friday before Labor Day when my BF and I took our metal to Teagues but found it closed. My BF insisted on going to Artesia Metals to sell our metal instead of waiting for Teagues to be open on Tuesday. After they weighed my copper and weighed my boyfriend's steel, my BF went in to get paid. When I got to examine the receipt, I was incredulous at what Artesia was paying. I went back inside and told them I wanted my wire that Teagues called High Quality Insulated Wire back. They were calling it No. 2 insulated wire and had paid 34 cents a pound, while Teagues paid at least $1.35 per pound. It was stranded wire, and they told me that since each individual strand was smaller in diameter than a pencil lead, they paid No. 2 prices for it. That is nonsense as those strands are twisted to get her to act as a unit, and are never going to be separated into individual strands. They come in all different gauges. By Artesia Metals' logic each stranded wire would be 20 or 22 gauge, the size of each individual strand regardless of the diameter increasing with the number of strands forming the wire. They refuse to categorize this wire correctly, because they have a much bigger profit margin if they cheat their customers in this manner. They got my wire out of their bins and have us a new receipt which my BF took to the cashier and cashed.I was dismayed by how little my copper had fetched, so I went to scrutinize the receipt on the way home. I had 153 lbs of the "com wire". On the first receipt they were paying 44 cents per pound. On this second one, after I demanded to be refunded, they had changed this to 5 cents per pound. Instead of fetching over $67, they had paid me $7.65 for it. Presumably this was retaliation for making them give my other copper back.Even without this cheat, the prices they offer are not fair prices. Artesia citizens!! It would be well worth the cost of a trip to Carlsbad for you to sell your metal to Teague's instead of to Artesia Metals. In Artesia, I received $7.65 for metal that Teague's would have paid me $74.97 for. They were going to pay me $6.80 for metal that Teague's would have paid between $27 and $37 for. They also paid lower prices for my Number 1 clean copper, plus they did not pay a separate higher price for the Bare Bright Copper I had, but paid it as Number 1. All in all, I was paid $37 for what Teague's would have paid me a minimum of $127. That's a difference that would be worth driving 30 miles to Carlsbad for.I figured most of this out on the drive home. My BF had acted embarrassed, like I had been causing a scene in Artesia, or I would have taken the extra couple of minutes to see where else I was being under paid, and then I would have demanded that they give me back every bit of the wire I took there, and waited for Teague's to be open on Monday. If Teague's can make money while paying 70% more than Artesia pays, just think how much Artesia Metals is making by paying you far below market price. They are taking your copper, calling it low grade, then selling it at higher grade prices. They make out like a bandit at the expense of their customers. They don't deserve any customers, doing business like they do.

I've been recycling my metals here since 2003, and for the most part, everytime has been well worth my time. But it only takes one time to ruin a good thing. Today I was brushed off like a piece of recycled trash by the employee. He said I have no time for you today Im busy with 3000$ of copper still to weigh. So my little 20.00$ wasn't worth weighing when he was through.some years back, The owner had stayed open 20 minutes late for less and that was a five star rating to me. I'll probably not recycle here much anymore . If a customer shows up before closing hour, I believe staying a little late is a sign of gratitude for the customers who keep businesses going. I just left what I planned to recycle there, call it 4 stars worth of free metal towards a better environment. I still have 1 star reserved for steel depot, Artesia metals. Thanks for remaining to be a top notch company in Artesia, good employees are hard to find. Can't please everyone all of the time. Recycling at it's best!
