“TLDR: Affordable, easy to schedule, caring staff, efficient, honest, and did not push sales of other services or medications.

I made an appointment with them because they were the only veterinary clinic that could see my dog in under a month.

I was pleasantly surprised by how kind and caring the staff was and the short wait time to be seen. The veterinarian clearly explained what happened to my dog, Patellar luxation, and what I would have to do in the long run about this. Apparently it is common and will happen again.

She did not push surgery, medication, or any other unnecessary medical treatments for my dog. On the contrary she explained that proper vigilance and swift action thereafter would be the best long term treatment. She explained multiple surgeries would cause scare tissue and may be counter productive in terms of treatment.

Now the price was much less than I had imagined. For context at TLC I paid $300 for them to examine my dog when she had the flu. I didn't recieve any medication and was told to feed her baby food. Here they examined my dog explained treatment options and I only paid $65. It would have been 130, but they offered me a half price discount for it being my first visit.

I came to them because I had no other choice. But their treatment, kindness, and honesty made me decide to make them my new go to veterinary clinic for my dogs.”

“Being a new client they helped set up an appointment in a timely matter. The wait wasnt very long at all. The veterinarian who saw Groot was very patient with him...even when he went ballistic when they tried to test him for Leukemia. He received a good bill of health from a thorough examination. I received some good advice and suggestions on preventative care. A+”

“we had initially scheduled an appointment to put our cat, Bud, down at 11am. unfortunately Bud passed earlier in the morning. we brought him straight in as we were planning to use their private cremation service regardless. i wish i got her name, but the blonde receptionist was so kind and patient as we said goodbye to Bud. she sat there and patiently listened as i told her about Bud and his favorite things. she gave us the time we needed to say goodbye even though we came in without notice 3 hours before our scheduled appointment. would recommend them 100%. thank you again”

“Aztec is a wonderful business with employees that give the pets a lot of attention and will even follow up visits with a phone call or respond to follow up questions after the visit. Maybe a little pricier than some other local vets but it is highly worth the extra effort they put into their services”

“Sam had his establishing visit today, got some shots, and we were on our way! Everyone there, from the nice woman who greets you, and checks your buddy in, to the medical assistants, and the doctor: ALL of them are VERY helpful, and clearly exclusively concerned in what is best for the health of your pet! Needless to say, I was very pleased (Sam less so, because he doesn’t like needles ?), and we will continue to take Sam to De Anza, for as long as we remain in Los Lunas (for residents of Los Lunas: this place is quicker to get to than places in Los Lunas proper, if you live on the west side; believe it or not…)”

“This place is always awesome!! The team is always super friendly and helpful.. The leadership team seems to always be thinking on how to improve their customer experiences. It’s awesome because I’ve been going for about 7 years and it seems like my pet gets cleaner every time I step into that place. They change their approach on shampoos, brushes, sprays etc.. All of this really helps so I’m appreciative of them! They do it all! 12/10 on this business lol you read that right! Never leaving this place!”

“Dr. Smith is the kindest person! She and her team are friendly, caring, and respectful of individual concerns regarding costs. They are transparent with fees and offer options for approaching problems/diagnoses/treatments.
Desert Hills also does everything they can to address urgent matters (they are not an emergency clinic but will direct you.)
The clinic itself is spotless, bright, and welcoming. Highly recommend!”

“My dog has an eye growth that came back after cryo removal 18 months ago at a vet in Massachusetts, but he is also very old dog so I wanted to make sure another procedure was the right thing. The vet was incredibly knowledgeable, very kind, communicated well, and really helped me assess my options. We even found things with his eye we did not expect and she presented realistic tests and options for it. My dog is pretty growly and he calmed right down with the vet tech. We have not done the procedure yet but I have no doubt that will also be a positive experience. Also, the reason we have not done the procedure is because they did not pressure me to it, they actually advised waiting to see what happens, which I know is not money in their pocket so I appreciate that I did not have to fight for that option.”

“This is one of the most intelligent and compassionate veteran clinics I have experienced in decades of having multiple dogs and cats. I have been there with a large dog with who needed emergency surgery due to eating some object we never were able to identify and a few months later with a tiny dog who has a long term condition that needs research and maintenance and in both situations the entire staff went above and beyond what I expected. They tasted me and my dogs with compassion and respect at all times. I completely trust them and would not hesitate to encourage my family and friends to do the same with their pets. In today's day and age this veterinary office is rare and I hope our community supports them. I know I will”

“Brought our boy Sherlock (Giant Schnauzer/ Poodle mix) to Animal Acupuncture Westside after a lack of diagnosis or effective treatment via conventional veterinary practices for the weakness and immobility he was experiencing in his hind legs. He couldn’t get up from the floor on his own, often slipped and fell when walking, and would fall down trying to go up stairs. At 8 1/2 years young, there had to be options for my long-time adventure partner. Our regular vet mentioned acupuncture and I thought, “what have we got to lose.” Dr. Schlesinger was very thorough in his initial assessment of Sherlock, and we started seeing him weekly for a few sessions, then every two weeks for acupuncture, the occasional cold laser, and the supplemental Chinese herbs we would add to Sherlock’s food. We didn’t see immediate results, but heeded the expertise of Dr. Schlesinger that every patient responds differently, and that some require a longer period of consistent treatment. So we stuck with it, and I’m so glad we did! After six months of acupuncture, herbs, and some dietary changes, we saw not just results, but phenomenal results! Sherlock can now walk up stairs, no problem, got back enough energy to rough-house with his 3-year old fur brother, and has been doing short hikes with the family. I’m so grateful to Dr. Schlesinger for his expertise and kindness throughout this challenging season! We now maintain Sherlock’s progress with a visit every 3 weeks, and Sherlock loves the focused attention at each session and the cookie at the end! Now at 9 3/4 years young, Sherlock is thriving!”

“Unfortunately I had to put my best friend Halo ? of 14 years down last week. It was one of the worst days of my life.. The VCA animal hospital on Wyoming helped me get through this tuff time. From the moment we walked into the facility my poor girl didn't want anything to do with that place.. but the staff greeted us with open arms, and even came to the front offering Halo treats and talking to her, making us feel as comfortable as possible.(Due to the circumstances )They never made me feel rushed and they let me mourn with her as long as I needed from beginning and untill she passed. Thank you VCA for your staff and Veterinarian for doing a great job.”

“This is going to become my new go to vet office. Not only do they have appointments on weekends, but the staff is so friendly. My boyfriend and I had an elderly cat and sadly he was in his final days. The vet and tech were gentle but honest about my cats condition and quality of life. They made me feel confident in the decision to euthanize at that time. The staff was so sweet and even sent me a card with his paw print inside after. The prices are a little much- for example, to get his ashes back it was going to $600 but for just the cremation is was like $70. I personally do not like to keep ashes but if somebody does that may be a bit steep. I will bringing my dog here from now on also.”

“I am so impressed and so grateful with the entire staff at this animal hospital. Having relocated to Albuquerque three years ago I found it very difficult to find a new vet. And then I really had to find a vet when I realized one of my cats was having an issue with his mouth and his teeth. After a lot of research and calling a lot of animal hospitals I finally settled on La cueva. On our first visit, I was impressed that the exam room had some ambience soothing music, they used a spray to calm the cat, and every nuance of the room and the exam was for the comfort of the animal and owner. After that first visit I scheduled a follow-up surgery for my cat to have his teeth cleaned and or removed. Unfortunately, due to extreme . Dental disease my poor little 6-year-old boy had to have all of his teeth removed 2 days ago. Going through something like this can be very stressful. My cat also has a heart murmur and so when we arrived at the animal hospital I was told he was the only surgery for the day and that there would be two techs overseeing his care along with the veterinarian performing the surgery. Post surgery they sent me home with everything I needed to care for my little boy including syringes with prepared doses of pain meds and anti-inflammatories. They gave him a two week dose shot of antibiotics so I didn't need to worry about that. It's been two days now and I see an extreme difference in my little one. He is recovering very well and is already looking much happier and healthier. I am so grateful for Dr Kim and her staff. I have three other cats that I will be bringing here. Many thanks for the good care.”
