The staff here definitely favor male veterans, as far as politeness and caring are concerned. With the exception of one senior, female staffer. She is very professional, friendly and helpful with males and females alike and I give her kudos!

DONT DONATE TO THIS PLACE THEY DONT CARE ABOUT HOMELESS VETERANS!!The front lady and the gay male were sooo rude to me I came for a little bit of food or a snack I haven't eaten in about 2 days. So me and my husband who is a US veteran come here and the front receptionist she I swear to you not looked us both up and down rolled her eyes and start ignoring us by talking to the gay boy about how good his coffee was. Awkward than gay boy looked at us and told us to sit outside. At the end of it they refuse to give us can of soup after they showed us their very full pantry. Told us to come back next week. I'd give zero stars if I could

I called and explained my situation and how far we are away from this place. I explained my health situation. I was told to come down on Thursday to fill out the housing assistance application. We got there and was told no we don't help you. I wasted 180 in gas that I didn't have to spend. And a entire day.

I tried to speak with someone today, as a war veteran who is close to, but not yet homeless, to get some help and guidance. I was nervous when I went in, and the woman at the front counter said that they don't help with employment (when I said that I was out of work for a while and wanted to talk with someone about my situation). She snapped, "Homeless only!" So I have to wait until things are to that point just to speak with someone. I wish that front door clerks would let clients speak with the professional first and let the professional decide, or at least let the professional give the client other resources that can help.

Awesome place to live if you need the help. Plus on Friday they have the Veterans Food Pantry. Today they, also, had a Veterans garage sale, however I saw no garages but did find other wonderful things.

VIC, Albuquerque, New Mexico is extremely and highly efficient. They are not just workers making a paycheck. People at VIC here have a genuine concern and are committed to ending veteran homelessness. This is why I left my home state; everyone is very kind to me here in ABQ. I've been asked by Mario, Director of the VA, D.C., to inform him of what I think about local veteran's services. I shall inform him that ABQ VIC is most efficient, responsible, respectful and lives up to what you say. Thank you for housing and feeding me,with respect and sincerity,Robert M. BallesterosUSAF

We've had a terrible experience at this location. Workers/ volunteers have a bad attitude and speak very rudely. If you don't want to be there or know how to deal with people maybe this isn't the volunteer position for you.

They have a really great food bank here that I drive my neighbor to. He is a Navy Veteran who needs help. Today was a good day for him as they loaded him down with frozen meats, milk and orange juice and several bags of great food. The staff there are always very helpful and he enjoys speaking with other Vets when he is there. It’s so sad that so many of these warriors that were there for our country have to rely on food banks. Equally sad is that so many of them have no way to get back to their home with all of their food. Often they come with back packs and suitcases on wheels and struggle to return home with their food supplies. If you know someone who has served and needs help tell them about this place and then go a step farther and offer to drive them there. Remember the freedoms you enjoy today were fought and protected for by them.

I can say without hesitation that the VIC helps veterans who are motivated to help themselves! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, curtious, and motivated. If you are a veteran and need assistance with housing or need change in your life, give them a call. But be forworned, most of the work must come from you! They will give you the resources you need to succeed but you must be motivated to change.

I don't eat pork and fish but I was told you get what you get or don't come back. I used to volunteer there so I would always try to accommodate those who don't eat fish and replace it with something else.

They had a thrift store that was famous for unique and affordable prices. When my veteran son died, they helped with info on how to navigate the various V.A. institutions to get him home etc. I donate household goods for their Veterans Housing Program. Very resourceful!! Also I visit their food shelf once a month, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.

If not for VIC and their services? Many vets living on a low low income would have nought. I'd advise Vets to go there for any social needs. Speaking as one Vet to another. VIC also, on Monday's, gives out food to none Vets. I've met several Vets that would be homeless if not for VIC. They take in, even pick up, donations that can find new homes. It's worthy of your support.
