I've never been scared in a grocery store before. I won't be going back.

Better produce than the blue store, plus it's satisfying to not give my money to the blue store. And I love the sushi bar!

Generally speaking Smith has always been a reliable, friendly, well stocked, clean store. Of course some stores are better than others.
However, I placed an order with Smith's through instacart. (Yes, this negative review is also a reflection on instacart as well as Smith's), the instacart app actually prompted me that my order was being shopped for and a while later an alert that it was ready for pickup early! Yay, right? I drove to the Louisiana and Montgomery location and upon my arrival was told that my order was never delivered by instacart. I didn't understand the reasoning why instacart would need to deliver an order of groceries to a grocery store that's already there. Why transport our groceries all over town rather than shop at the location of pickup? So naturally I asked that question!
The manager (Jessica) and another employee both started talking to me at the same time and when I asked "who am I talking to?" was told by the manager that it was she I should be addressing and that my "attitude" was not going to get me very far ? I suppose I was supposed to be smiling and happy that an order I needed to pick up and deliver was not prepared as expected and I did not have a happy look on my face,
Jessica blamed instacart for everything, told me it would be faster if I shopped myself or through the Smiths app instead of the instacart app, and assumed absolutely no responsibility and never tried to understand my frustration and my confusion. I asked for the Smiths corporate contact information and she said she did not have it, I asked for her supervisors name and she reluctantly provided his first name but said she did not give out his phone number!
The store has a huge sign outside the store with two arrows pointing downward to the Pick Up Area yet, the security guard asked the driver of my vehicle to move the car because it is a fire zone!
What a way to start my day. So, I do not know what your experience has been but that was mine. I have had many good experiences at Smith's and I have spoken with many friendly staff. But, not today ?
I did contact instacart and that employee assumed total responsibility, stated that she understood my frustration and would feel exactly the same way, offered no excuses, quickly reimbursed me as I requested and offered another apology and said she would forward the information so that instacart can improve. Now that is how to handle this type of situation!
It really isn't rocket science is it? When you work for a company you represent them as a whole. You don't go rogue as a manager and lose your professionalism because the customer is stressed, upset, whatever you want to call it. You assumed that role and that responsibility when you took that position. You don't blame everybody else and tell the customer that their attitude is the problem and offer no help or phone numbers or any type of resolution or just understanding as a human.
It took longer to write this than the actual few minutes I spent inside the Smiths store. So, life goes on and good luck with your experiences..

Very nice checkout staff. Extremely poor store organization and chaotic, nonintuitive shelf placement. Floor staff do not seem to know basic grocery products or location of items, and do not help locate items (I watched an interaction with a disabled person where the staff person gave some vague locations to try to find something, then simply walked away.) I assume the issues are due to poor management.

Smiths has been my all time favorite store and lately I’ve been trying the curbside pickup which is super convenient. However my first order last week was missing an item (an icecream) and today’s order included a bread that came moldy then I checked its expiration date it was August 5th (today is August 12th). This is a health hazard so I am hoping this review will be considered.

*AVOID*
☠️ Zero stars for this place if I could, all employees have anger issues and should not be working in customer service. Trying to get help is like pulling teeth with rubber chop sticks, management yelling, and cursing at customers. The people here need professional help.

People need to be able to afford to feed their families…. $5.99 for a loaf of bread is outrageous. Not a good place to shop if youre on a budget. Way too expensive. Do better for the sake of The Surrounding community, Smiths!!!!!!!!!☹️

I'm new to the area and every employee I've encountered is rude. I've seen them screaming and cursing at customers on 2 consecutive trips. Many times only self check out is open and backed up. I'm done with this store, worth the 10 minute drive to a different one.
