This thrift shop is on the smaller side but it is by far one of the best organized and most affordable in town. I got a jacket for my husband; didn't see a price listed and was shocked when I was told all the clothes were $1. When I went there were tons of books, overflowing to the front porch.I'm sure the selection changes all the time based on what is donated, but you can tell a great deal of love and effort goes into making this spot approachable. Yeah, Green Earth Matters!

This is a darling little neighborhood thrift store. It's decorated nicely and improves with every visit. The prices are the lowest in town. I go at least once a week and Tara always has a ready smile.

I finally made it to Gem Thrift. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed. I mostly thrift for books and home decor, and they really did not have much of either of those. They did seem to have a lot of clothes if that’s what you’re looking for. **Edited Review** I raised from 3 to 4 stars. I thrift for home decor and they simply did not have very much but they did have a lot of clothes. I felt that my original was a bit harsh.

Tara was so friendly and I liked her philosophy of re-purposing old items to save them from the landfill. Her prices are reasonable and I bring all my charitable donations to Gem to help her cause.

G.E.M. Thrift is one of my absolute favorite thrifts in town! Tara is an absolutely wonderful person and what she does for the community is amazing! She supports lots of local artists and craftsmen that sell their items there, and her prices are extremely cheap and affordable. The negative reviews on here are absurd to me, it’s a thrift store, you’re not going to find EVERYTHING. Sometimes I leave with one or two things, sometimes 10. It’s a delight just to hunt around and check out what’s there.

This is literally the best thrift shop I've been to in years, maybe decades. Pretty basic things, but great prices and warm and lovely owner. I'll be back every chance I get!

Tiny shop but packed with goodies. You have to do some digging but the items I got were amazing and the prices were unbelievable.

GEM thrift store is a gem and is one of the rare thrift stores that actually offers products at really affordable prices. Please do not let the fake negative reviews deter you from visiting this lovely shop. Yes, it is a small neighborhood thrift store and is not like one of those big stores, but you can find some great stuff here. The owner Tara, works really hard to make this store awesome. Also, this is not a fake review, I am a real person who is a regular visitor of GEM. I am attaching a few pics of the great items that I was able to find here and all of them were a dollar or two or at the most 5. You cannot beat that! You can also find books here for 25 cents! Other than that you can find fabrics, kitchen tools, decor items, and even shoes. I was even able to find a cute top in Large so I don't know what the other reviews mean when they say that there are no clothes above medium size. Also, there is no pricing on the clothes because everything is literally a dollar! Can you find anything for a dollar in the big so called "thrift" stores?! Visit this lovely store and you won't regret a thing, don't pay attention to the fake negative reviews.

Please don't listen to the "Karen" reviews. GEM lives up to it's name. It is a great shop of constantly changing inventory. It is an affordable source of ever changing items. If there were few XLs, it's because larger sizes sell super fast for only $1! Neighborhood friends come by frequently, not only to see what's new, but to be greeted with a smile, good music & the other smiling customers. The shop smells good & the music is great. This GEM is here to stay. (BTW: GEM stands for Green Earth Matters, bringing unwanted items back into the light instead of ending up in the landfills.)

Don't trust the other reviews!! This place has like nothing, like 4 small racks of clothes, 95% small and medium with very few larges and 0 xl. None of the prices were listed on any of the items. If you actually want to find something you like or that fits you, just go to savers or Goodwill or one of the other big one's in ABQ.

I read all the other reviews and thought it would be great but I think those are fake because if you actually go in there they have like 10 things total, and none of it you'd want. Also no prices? And a surprising lack of any size above medium, very misleading. Don't go here.

In town for a few days and looked up best thrift stores. This got good reviews and I see why. Clothing was a dollar and they had lots of things for all genders. Household items, records, and more! Highly recommend

I love this place. The idea behind it is so important - keeping stuff out of the landfill. The prices are so reasonable, it's almost like a more convenient version of a Buy Nothing Group. They also feature a few consignment items like handmade crafts from people in the neighborhood, and records from a long time collector, which feels good to support as well. Not only are all the items in the shop given a second chance, but so too is the historic house the shop is located in -- ask the owner about how it was moved from the original location and the customer who stopped by who was born in it--just the kind of community honoring and building I can get behind! So far I've rehomed an antique candle holder, a 60s Soul record in perfect condition, a really nice set of iron fireplace tools, a wee vintage deer figurine for my friend who collects them, some vintage Christmas wrapping paper, and an Avon toucan pin. I can't wait to peruse some more and take a box of things to donate to the cause as well. So glad this shop has come to my neighborhood!
