June 2023 I rented a Kia Soul in Albuquerque New Mexico. The day we arrived it was chaos in lobby as they explained the building had lost power and none of the cars were available. The counter stated that they could not get the cars turned over because of this and there was a two hour delay. When I finally got the car, it had not been cleaned and in fact still had pink marker writings and circles around damages on the car. Everything was supposedly noted and I took the car and left. When I dropped the car off, the attendant asked if I was given the car the way it was with the pink markings and I told them yes. The attendant checked their tablet and said that everything was the same as when I got it and the previous damages were marked in the system. Fast forward 3 months and I get an email telling me that I am responsible for over $500 damages for a rock chip in the windshield. I called to clear it up and left a detailed message but received no call back. Then about a month later, I get another email telling me that I owe money for the rock chip. Called again, spoke to a lady, and told them how it was already there and had been noted. Thought it was cleared up until I got a letter in the mail now telling me that they are going to send me to collections if I don't pay for the damage that I did not cause to begin with. Stay far far away from any dealings with them or their parent company Hertz

And there are at least 34 people ahead of us!!!??? Hertz is totally empty (and since they own Dollar their employees should help out!)I WILL NEVER EVER RENT FROM DOLLAR AGAIN!!! AND THAT WAS THROUGH AAA!!!!???

We reserved a toyota rav4 After going thru the procedure, which was cumbersome and unfriendly, i went to to get it at the assigned parking spot. It was not there, nor was it anywhere on the lot. I had to compromise with a Ford Escape, which seemed to be hastily delivered. It seems that it was not checked thoroughly before i got it.About 5 days later after driving less than a 100 miles i noticed the front right tire deflated. I brought it to a garage which informed me that this was a slow leak, which, because its location on the tire, could not be fixed. I needed to get a new tire. I had no choice. The garage manager told us that he saw many cases when auto rental companies put old tires on the cars. Also, based on his experience he suggested to leave the damaged tire in the car, and show it to the rental agency when it is returned, so that i will be compensated for the cost of the tire - $174 in my case.We drove for over 1000 miles with the tire in the back seat. When i returned the car at Tucson airport, the clerk was shown the receipt and the damaged tire. After consultation with his manager, he informed me that they won't refund me the cost of the tire , since the puncture could have occurred while the car wad in my possession. I feel that the negligence in checking the car before i got it could have prevented the problem, and Dollar Rentals should be held responsible for that.I will never rent from that company again, and neither should anyone else.

Arrived at Dollar in Albuquerque. Had prepaid for a car. When got to the counter told that they did not have the car we ordered and only had electric cars. Asked about charging stations in New Mexico and they said "good luck" outside Albuquerque or Santa Fe. Had to rent at a higher cost from another company.Customer service poor. Counter people and manager indifferent and calling the company customer service line an exercise in frustration. They hung up on us Almost ruined our vacation. Pretty outrageous behavior.

We came to ABQ for the Balloon Fiesta (Awesome) We returned our vehicle and were greeted by my new friend, Marcos. Friendly, engaging, and a joy to talk to. As we were unloading our bags, he asked if we wanted a lift to the terminal (Awesome) We engaged in friendly chat and my man Marcos gave us some of his reasons for relocating to ABQ. I can certainly see the appeal. I'm going to assume Dollar Car Rentals only hires good folks like Marcos and I will continue to use as my car rental agency going g forward.

Scammed into buying a full tank of gas worth $68.00. I returned car with almost full tank and they refused to refund me the difference. Dollar wants to steal your dollar!

Horrible experience with Dollar/ Hertz. Booked a car through Dollar for a road trip. Got there, they tried giving me an EV. That wouldn't fly as I'm traveling to a very rural area. Finding actual gas is hard enough. Web site gave no indication of such and was a massive hassle to switch. The replacement car they gave me was dirty ,and I did not accept it from the location. The seats were visually dirty and there were cracker crumbs all over the floor. The next vehicle I got stunk hardcore of fart and industrial air freshener, but was fine once aired out. Once I got the trip underway we began running into more problems. The vehicle began running low on fluids, and warning lights began coming on. I topped them off. While looking through menus on the dash, I found the car has been warning them to change the oil for almost 3000 miles and it's just been getting silenced. Added coolant and washer fluid was totally empty. After some more driving the tire pressure light kicked on. Not 1 but 2 tires were low. Again, not the end of the world but super annoying given the rental was almost $400. You expect and pay for these cars to be ready to go. Dollar/ Hertz does not maintain their vehicles for proper mechanical function or safety, not to mention their cleaning crew in Albuquerque is incompetent. Avoid this place if you can. I've had issues with previous rentals, but this has been the worst. I will never rent from dollar/ Hertz/ Thrifty again.

I suggest not ever renting a vehicle from this company.I made a reservation with Dollar a month ago and assumed that a car would be available when I picked it up. When I arrived at the counter, the associate told me it would be at least a two-hour wait for a vehicle to become available. After an hour into our wait, the associates at the counter turned off the lights and just walked away (This was at 2:30 PM). There was no announcement that no vehicles would be available or that this was the case. They simply left me and everyone else around in the dark.I rented with this company once before and had a pretty good experience. After this episode, I will never rent from them again and would strongly suggest you don't either.

The shuttle, both to and from the airport, was great, with no wait either time. The car return service was quick, friendly and efficient, and our bill was accurate. Picking up the car was not as good of an experience. We reserved the car well in advance and did the online check in, but the car was not ready when we arrived. We were told it would be ready in an hour and, to his credit, the counter rep was accurate with that time estimate. However, everything else about the check in experience was awful. Many customers found themselves waiting for cars and both counter reps implied it would be a good idea to try another rental company, obviously not concerned about losing business. Cesar, the agent we dealt with, was one of the most defensive and angry people I've ever encountered in a customer service setting. As we sat and waited for our car, we witnessed several confrontations and lots of yelling. Any customer frustration, which there was a lot of because of the lack of cars, was met with impatience, anger and yelling. Security even came over at one point. I would not rent from this company again.

I don’t like giving poor scores and comments in my reviews, and usually give the benefit of the doubt, but this time I cannot help but do so – there was no one to be seen to speak to! Upon arriving at Albuquerque International Sunport Airport with a reserved vehicle at Dollar Car Rental, we arrived at the Rental Counter to find no one there… waited about 10 minutes… counter person was snarky in his comments… car was dirty – unwashed, windows smudged, dash full of fingerprints, floorboards not vacuumed, trash in cabin! The vehicle had Florida tags… it appeared to be calibrated for sea level, it could not handle the altitudes of New Mexico. Upon returning vehicle, no assistance, no vehicle inspection, no instructions, no attendant. No service!

Well if you are looking for any type of customer service look elsewhere. The staff and manager was rude. There was a decision made not to honor our same day car rental and we had driving a distance to get there. When I asked them why they wouldn’t call me and let me know they wouldn’t not fulfill their end of the bargain he said sorry he couldn’t call everyone. So basically if you go with this company hope you get their hop they actually give you a car. Still waiting for my money to be returned and had to spend more money to get a car from Avis who was in the same facility.

My flight was a half hour late. I arrived at 10:30pm and the counter closed at 10pm. I was told by an agent when I called earlier they had an after hours checkout. They did not. Fortunately Budget was open and I was able to rent there but at a much higher price. I'll never use Dollar/ Thrifty again!

What an absolute and utter mess this place is.... I came and pulled in and asked for a printed receipt. The man told me that they don't do that they email. I said that I prefer printed as I have to voucher for work. He stated to go inside the welcome center to get it, I thanked him and asked if I needed anything. I got in there and they asked me for the contract number to which I didn't have on me due to I called and changed my rental amount and they had said they would email me an updated one (and didn't which is why I wanted a printed receipt). Inside they asked for mileage and I said I asked if I needed anything - they refused to help and said I had to go out and get it tho there were several at the counter and he was complaining that he had to "find me by my name and it's harder to get info for Dollar rentals on a Hertz computer". They can take payment easily on the same system tho.... So after walking out to go get mileage the guy literally said "oh I did know that - you should get an email tho" - almost all rental places they have the print outs when you check in as it's all electronic - but because they are so cheap they don't even have a way to give receipts without being a huge screw up. Stay away they are only helpful when taking your money.
