Despite having and using Fast Break they did not have the rental ready. The agent was polite and did take care of the reservation. The low rating is the vehicle provided. It was not very clean, had a warped break rotor, desperately needed a tire rotation, the wiper blades were trashed and had grooved the windshield. The pre-rental prep was well below even Budget's low bar standard. Inspect your car before driving away.

Get RentFor once, I seem to be the outlier review, but in a positive direction! Will wonders never cease?? (0:Booked a five-day rental thru Costco Travel** for $280 ($380 w/ taxes and fees [ouch]) and picked it up at the ABQ Car Rental Facility. The Good:*Great service from James, who was affable, fast, and didn't push the insurance upsell too hard. *Car was clean and didn't smell like cigarettes, which had been our luck as of late w/ rentals.*Arrived on a mid-morning Tue, and there were no lines and at least three people working their customer service area. The Meh:*Car exterior is in rough shape. The Ugly:*I'm not a fan of the overly crowded bus rides to get from airports to the car rental facilities. This is nothing to do with the car rental, but I'm just venting. TLDR: Overall, it was a good positive experience, but that may not always be the case based on the other reviews. However, I will say that car rentals are one of those Yelp categories that nobody thinks to review unless they're pissed off about something, so that may always tend to skew the ratings. Just food for thought. **Pro Tip: Always book your car thru Costco as early as possible to ensure you have one ready, but about a month before your trip, check the rates again. I've saved literally hundreds of dollars this way; this rental was originally over $500, but after checking a month before, I was able to secure it for $380.

I rented a Budget car with a GPS through Costco for 4 days. The cost of the GPS was $27.99 for the rental period. The agent at Albuquerque said the cars don't have GPS anymore but I could rent a tablet with GPS for "a little more". He didn't say how much more and dummy me didn't ask. I needed the GPS so said OK.The GPS didn't work in the rain and it rained 2 of the days we were there. Got the receipt for the rental today. The cost of the tablet was $21.95 per day.If this isn't bait and switch I don't know what is. Would not recommend Budget.

Learned the hard way. Do not rent from Budget until they resolve their management issues. Rented in Albuquerque New Mexico Through Costco Travel recently and first the agent asked me whether I wanted to use the refueling charge and I said no. Upon returning the car there was no one at the airport to receive the car just a long line of cars with no attendant insight. Customers left their cars in order to board the bus for the terminal, we also left the car with the keys inside only to get a text from budget two days later that we were three days overdue. Now I am being charged for three extra days that I did not use even though the car was in their possession. Only under grossly deficient management can this type of customer service occur. Managment is responsible for training employees and maintaining customer service.

Had a problem with my rental upon return (one-way from El Paso, TX) but Richard and Sylvia were able to correct it and get me my receipt. Very friendly and professional those two.

Very nice people who went above and beyond to help. We rented the car because our car was in the shop. We got a call about 3 pm on the day the rental was due to be turned back in. The dealership informed us they had a loaner car so we rushed to return our rental and got there at closing to see what we could do to avoid being charged an extra day. Sylvia A. Offered to drive us to the dealership so we could turn in the rental and save an extra days charge and Richard stayed to help expedite the return. In this day and age, you just really appreciate any extra act of kindness and they both really showed theirs. ? thank you so much

New truck wasn't even 15k miles. Made Uhaul look like trash. Sure no ramp, but you do have easy use on the automatic as their vehicles are not run down. The gentleman was quite pleasant and friendly, saw us asap and even carried a fun conversation. Would be a 5 star, but I do not agree with the bill.

I am with all the people who wish they'd read the reviews for the Budget counter at the Albuquerque Airport. I've been in line for a half hour (my timer is on), and there are still 15 people ahead of me. There are NO lines for any of the other rental car companies. There are 15 people behind me. There are two people working the counter. Obviously this company gives zero you-know-what's for their clients.

Was scheduled to pick up truck at 4:00pm when I got there the place was closed, no one even bothered to call me and tell me they closed at 4:00. Spent many hours on the phone with customer care while outside the location.

Mario at ABQ Sunport gave 5 star service. Friendly, great attitude, and helpful. He was the only one working so we had to wait over an hour. He served everyone as quickly as possible. Budget gets 2 stars for understaffing but Mario earns 5 for outstanding service.

Useless customer service. I got a parking ticket in Denmark which I paid, then Budget charged me for the ticket plus a $54 administration fee. I made several calls, provided documentation on their website. The last answer I got was an email with invoices stating, "For disputes we recommend to contact the country of rental". Budget is fine unless you have a problem and then they are incapable of addressing your issue.

Drove 2 hours to pickup my rental on 7/25 & Richard was confused that our rental was not on the lot. He then confirmed that our rental was given to another customer on 7/24. No apologies from Richard & was given a rental w/dirty interior. Drove 2 hours home to pack for vacation & engine light illuminated & noticed under carsheild was also damaged [dragging] when vehicle in motion. Immediately called Richard who again no apologies stated that another location might have similar rental available but no guarantee. Mind you tht no budget rental services in my town, therfore I had to drive TWO hours away in the first place. Running short on time i did not want to chance driving back the 2 hours and decided to keep rental. Thank you Richard, first & last time here. Lacking customer service/empathy. We were also told to return vehicle in clean condition & i we definitely returned vehicle in better condition than we initially received. That should be applied to ALL customers, and should be inspected by EMPLOYEES DURING DROP OFF. For the price we paid, i'd expect rentals to be in BETTER condition overall and courteous employees.

I rented a pickup at budget for a business trip. The center console had ANTS - thousands of them that poured out as the truck went down the road. Also, I was pulled over for an expired registration. The police officer didn't ticket me for it. But if you rent from budget, be sure to check to make sure the registration is current.

When I arrived at the counter I was helped right away as I am a FastBreak member which is a Budget program to enter your information to rent a car prior to arriving at the rental counter. FastBreak membership is a lot faster to rent a car. That I do like. However when I arrived at the airport rental car there were few cars available and the type of vehicle was not available. I still don't understand why rental car companies have this problem. If someone reserves a specific type of vehicle the company should have it. I was upgraded to a luxury car which was a nice gesture.
