The visitor center/store rents out sleds and snowboards/sandboards. It’s a must if you come visit White Sands National Park! Young and old, they all have fun sledding down the most incredible white sand. Even my dogs loved the sand ???. And yes, this National Park is doggy friendly ????

The gift shop offers an array of merchandise with plenty of choices. Among them are beautiful items crafted from locally sourced materials. I was particularly fascinated by cactus candy, which I had never seen before, and they also offer cactus jelly, both of which are quite unique.

Selling sleds is not super environmentally friendly, not to mention the scammy price. Otherwise store looks neat.

They sell some neat things, but they are highly priced. Unfortunately, not too many snack selections.

Bring your own sand sleds! Lest you want to pay $26 for a plastic disk you can get for $8 bucks somewhere else.Typical overpriced gift shop. Sure there are cool trinkets to look at, but $13 magnets, $20 medallions, $26 sleds? I've been to many gift shops. I can understand gift shops charging a bit more especially if they are the only gift shop around, but the prices here just seem way too high.My biggest gripe was that the penny press machine charged me $4 dollars for 4x pennies with off centered designs. The clerk got the "manager" for me who pretty much refused to offer any way to make it right. First suggesting that I did not line up the design correctly myself... I am a collector, I know how to operate the machine. I asked for my $4 back for the defective products to which the "manager" said there is "no way she can pull money back from the machine" and that they "do not own the machine." Yea, I don't believe that. The profits of the machine should be going to the gift shop as it is a passive income source for the shop. You are charging customers $26 for a $8 piece of plastic and $13 dollars for a $2 magnet, and you cant refund a customer $4 for a defective product? Unbelievable. Avoid this place if you can.

They used to rent the sleds, but now they just sell them. $25 for a cheap piece of plastic made in China! It should be an $8 sled, instead they jacked the price up and rip off tourists. The staff was not helpful or friendly. People were waiting in line without a worker in sight for a good ten minutes. Cashier was just working on a display and ignoring customers. Then she finally helped, but without an apology. I am not impressed with this place.

Great national park but worst gift shop. Sand disk is overpriced 25 dollars and returning it to the gift shop gives you 5-dollar CREDIT. There is no sign says the 5 dollar is a a gift card or credit, which you can only use to purchase in the gift shop, which is basically worthless. It definitely feels a scam to me.
