“Arcana is an absolute gem on Moyamensing and the neighborhood is very lucky to have this one of a kind store. There are so many unique vintage finds like decorations, artwork, kitchen and glassware, lamps, stained glass, mirrors, jewelry and other one of a kind items and goods. For me, Arcana doesn't get enough credit for being a one of a kind bookstore. They always seem to stock a wonderful assortment of spiritual, religious, fiction, esoteric/metaphysical and antiquarian books. They also have a great stock of vinyl records, too. I stop in often as things are always coming and going, plus I enjoy talking with Jim the owner and his sister Jerri. Stop in to explore the store or just to chat with Jim. He is full of stories and seems to have a passion for people as much as he does antiques and vintage. This is a friendly and welcoming place.”
“This is a very nice thrift that is black-owned and woman-owned in West Philly. I found they had a nice selection of items and it was well-lit and clean. They had a variety of things they were selling including clothing, shoes, furniture and various other knick-knacks. The owner was nice enough to provide information when I asked about the prices, and I'm excited to return when I have more time on my hands!”

The communication, speed of completion on projects, and just overall easy to work with attitude is nothing short of refreshing. The warehouse manager, Pete has dropped what he’s doing for an emergency project need in a bind and Pete is always thorough and helpful. “I absolutely love Retrospect, they are one of the only thrift stores like this in center city. The staff is amazing and always helpful. BUT, the ever- increasing prices are making me not want to continue shopping here… especially when you know that it’s a GOODWILL front shop. The staff shops the goodwill warehouses and then they mark in up in a south Philly-boutique-style thrift atmosphere ?? the other day I picked up a $34 lamp with a $2.99 goodwill sticker on the bottom and was in shock ??”

I’ve worked in retail for 20+ years, from consignment to luxury small business boutiques and the owner has an eye for cool unique one of a kind pieces. As soon as she caught wind of my style she was incredibly helpful and personable pulling and showing me items that she thought aligned with my vibe.
