Been getting small things here for years, but this year, we signed my nephew up for surf camp. He's very hard on himself and gets frustrated easily with any kind of game or competitive activity. The instructors (especially the oldest two), were very patient with him and encouraging. He did end up succeeding, and it was a very positive overall experience. I would absolutely recommend surf camp and ocean outfitters in general!

My wife was looking for a particular soft surfboard. After calling around to various surf shops we found the one she wanted at Ocean Outfitters. Living in Upstate NY we wouldn't be able to get down there until the weekend. No problem, they held it for us until we drove down this past Saturday. When we got to the shop, it even had a slip of paper with her name on it so it wouldn't accidentally be sold. It was the last of that size and brand. And since it's now after Labor Day, I'm guessing they won't restock until next season. I don't know the guy's name behind the counter, but he did mention he's been surfing the Jersey shore over 50 years. He was amazing. He was the benchmark for awesome customer service. He set up her board with the fins and leash. Gave her a tip about securing the leash when putting the board away. He gave her all kinds of other advice and easily answered every question she threw at him. Now, to put this in perspective, we had been to a shop in Rhode Island and the guy behind the counter was trying to sell her a more advanced board that she didn't want. I told her not to get it. Get the one you want, develop your muscle memory, then get a hard board later down the road. And when I told this to the guy at Ocean Outfitters, he said "Yes! That's what we tell the people that come here for lessons." All in all a very cool experience. I would definitely be back. Will definitely check here first for any other surfing needs.

I went to rent surfboards for a birthday in October. It was the off-season, but the shop owners came in early to meet us and rent us gear. Not only that, but they offered tips on places to go and truly went above and beyond (we were a group of beginners). I definitely want to go back and surf again, and would go to Ocean Outfitters first!

I took the surf camp for two days and was standing up on a surf board within the first hour. Each instructor gave personalized attention and feedback in a smaller group setting. The camp says all ages but is mainly younger children. While I'd still highly recommend the camp, especially for kids or families, for older learners I'd recommend getting a private, or semi-private lesson then renting a board and practicing on your own.

My instructor Victoria was awesome! I just got done my lesson and I feel good I’m gonna buy a board today and go on my own the rest of the summer.I had sooo much fun it wasn’t scary. If your thinking of taking the lessons just do it!

Great store! All you need for surfing and more. Our girls had awesome time at Surf Camp and taking surf lessons this summer. And Friday free ukulele lessons are so much fun!

Went there for a surfer dude toy. Nick was very kind and knowledgeable about other products. He actually offered and put the toy together for me. The store had no air conditioning so it was uncomfortable to be inside but a nice store

My 13 year old Autistic son took private lessons with Victoria and Maddie. Both were very patient and had my son up and surfing. They were both so encouraging and he had an amazing time. Thank you both for a memorable vacation!!

Such a great place!!! Was on vacation for a week and my daughter's fin to her surfboard had snapped off. The owner( or manager) was so helpful and kind! Staff was super nice as well!!
