Dr. Streng is extremely knowledgeable and patient with dogs. Both my pups love seeing her, never know when they get shots and always get treated like they were her own. All the staff is really great and you can tell they love animals.

My senior dog was sneezing mucus from his nostril. My regular vet at Greenwood Lake Veterinary Hospital was not available, so I made an appointment with a new vet in his practice.
The new vet immediately focused on his teeth, which had some calculus, and pushed hard for a FULL MOUTH dental removal. She did not seem as focused on the primary reason I brought him to the vet. She really pushed the expensive dental work and spent a lot of time talking about it. When I commented that dental care was so expensive for owners and that people would do it more often if it was more affordable.... She commented that “she had veterinarian school student loans to pay". (PS... I also have student loans but I don’t expect other people to pay them for me!).
Not only that, she said the dog would need a full senior bloodwork panel in order to do the dental cleaning, which I agreed to do at over a cost of $214 just for the test. She said the bloodwork included a heartworm test. But when I got my records from GLVAH, there was no heartworm or urine tests performed yet they charged me for tests that were not done! And despite my repeated requests, via phone, email and a visit to the office, she did not give me the full cost estimate for the full mouth dental removal that she was recommending.
I called Dr. Louer about the visit with his new vet, and I questioned if the student loan comment was the real reason she was pushing the full mouth dental removal. He laughed at what I reported his vet said, I told him I did not think it was funny. Subsequently we decided it was time to part ways. He refunded part of the bloodwork fees for the work that was not done after I brought it to his attention, and I took my dog to a different Veterinarian hospital and the dog had the cleaning. He only lost 4 little front teeth and 1 rear tooth and he did NOT need the full mouth extraction that was being so heavily pushed by GLVAH. The new vet is also treating my dog for the nose issue.
My advice-- go elsewhere! Besides being very expensive in comparison, check their fees and check the pet's records to make sure that what you purchased at GL animal hospital was actually done.

GWLAH has been a godsend. My girl Daphne came to me late in her life, as an 8yo rescue. She was unspayed and therefore already prone to mammory tumors. The vets and vet techs took amazing care with her spay, and with all her subsequent surgeries. On our last 2 days together, they treated us both with such compassion and kindness. I couldn’t have asked for better for her in her final moments. They were so respectful of her fear and anxiety and of my devestation. I will never forget their compassion and commitment to us both, from the front desk staff to the vet - class acts all the way.

If you are in the West Milford area and god for bid anything ever happens to your puppy never make the mistake like my father and I did with going here. They treated us extremely poorly and during an emergency gave us no emotion and 0 love to our dog. Such a shame that you work at animal hospital and don’t have love for animals.

My daughter went to this hospital because her 6 week old pug was wheezing. They said that he may have pneumonia and they needed to take x-rays to confirm. My daughter trusting this establishment agreed. When they got the x-rays, they said that the dog was too small and they couldn't see his lungs, therefore unable to determine if he had pneumonia. She was charged $255 dollars for nothing. If they are so experienced then why suggest x-rays? Dishonesty is not a good thing and what I am asking is for the $255 back. You also charged $156 Emergency room exam. I guess you can keep that since you did see the puppy. You should be honest and upfront with all the information and never mislead people who are truly concerned about their puppy. People be careful, they want your money.

This review is based on my 2 visits. 12/21/23 and 1/5/2412/21-Phil is so knowledgeable and friendly, he made Vader feel comfortable and treated him like he was his own. Dr. Fiedorczyk is very kind and compassionate towards her patients, she explains everything in detail and even taught me some tricks to use on Vader while giving him medication. She takes the time and the care shows.1/5-tech Beth was excellent, she remained patient even though Vader was a terror to do bloodwork and nail trim. The girls at the reception are always friendly and always answer any questions when I am there or I call. Samantha and Susan are great and always provide me with what I need.We feel very lucky to have found a facility that truly cares for their patients.
