Appearance wise this place looks much better than when I went to school here but I also feel like it shrunk the choices for dining (nothing in the commons area was open and there seems like limited options when it is open.) and the main dining hall (nicknamed "Wayne stall" hahaha when I was there) seems like there's a lot of choices but struggled to accommodate 250 high school students at the campus for a conference (my students loved the food, but waited a long time for it). Campus was clean and I felt safe but this school is also surrounded by a rough area so be cautious of your surroundings.

Would be nice if any professors helped you get a job or put you on the track to get one after college. Pointed you towards internships, what not. Everyone at this school is useless and only interested in themselves

2 Stars because the sculpting and art history teachers were very knowledgeable and helpful in their classes. One adjunct professor in particular went above and beyond, and tried to help me out with getting an internship in my field, which I will always appreciate. The school itself was fine, but could benefit from more parking areas so students don't have to park abysmally far from the campus as a whole. Also, as a transfer student, it felt like I had to figure out stuff myself rather than being contacted by an advisor or anything like that. I initially chose a "Bachelor's of Arts" degree thinking that's what I needed for Graphic Design. I was never advised or informed by my advisor about changing to a BFA and only learned the "Bachelor's of Fine Art's" degree tends to look better on a resume for Graphic Design. I was informed of this randomly, towards the end of my 3rd semester by a teacher when I was talking to him about what field I was studying. Thankfully, BA and BFA didn't matter that much in the long run for me, but it would have been nice to know this sooner. Also, as far as I'm aware, the career advisement center is a bit of a joke, depending on your field. The most they did for me is tell me to update my resume (obvious) and recommended that I get in touch with recruitment companies like Robert Half (which is a joke itself)

This school absolutely sucks. Worse than a community college. If you decide to go to this school please drop out and go somewhere else. The advisors AND higher ups in this school do not give a s*** about u. Literally go ANYWHERE ELSE! You could go into CVS and they'll care more about you than this school.

William Paterson University, otherwise known as 'Willie P' or 'Willy P', employs a sociology and criminology professor by the name of Gennifer Furst who was fired from her previous adjunct teaching position at The College of New Jersey after such colorful behavior as insulting her co-workers (particularly ripping on a fellow faculty member named Charles Fenwick) and accusing the college of favoritism in their promotion policies. Having gotten to know Gennifer Furst personally and being invited by her (it was her idea) to open up to her as if she was my personal therapist... I suffered psychological damages that continue to bother me to this very day. I suppose it isn't surprising, given her aforementioned behavior and her keeping of a private Twitter (why not open those tweets to the public? Could they be full of gossip about co-workers at WP...?). I should have known better than to trust an instructor who requested that I wait for her outside her office until she arrived (if she wasn't already in) to discuss my life issues with her, until one day when she claimed that she never said that (I suppose she was expecting to be entertained, and when she wasn't went... nope, never mind). She also revealed her personal disdain for the university to me. Seems strange, given that she's a tenured Professor (the highest ranking available), and therefore has received so much from the school. There were a lot of little lies, too. She kept talking about how big of a Pearl Jam fan she is, but she doesn't know popular tracks from their better selling albums. Why lie about something as simple as that? I also 'learned' a lot of facts from her classes that were dishonestly presented in order to support her sociopolitical opinions. Showing footage of people crying about a law doesn't educate me about the legality of it or present objective findings about it: it's an emotional appeal, and stuff like that gets your testimony thrown right out of court if you try it on a judge or jury. Then again, they say 'if you can't do, teach'. I guess she couldn't 'do'.

My kid and a lot of my money go to this school. It's been a good ride so far with most of the typical errors and omissions expected from a college institution.

This school doesn't try to help students graduate tbh and the education is subpar after I have been there for 4 years. Not many classes are offered that you need therefore it can prolong graduation.

I loved coming to this school. :) beautiful environment and scenery. Nice professors and just a fun time overall. I got my marketing degree like a piece of cake! I would recommend Willy P to any prospective attendee/high school student. Difficult to find parking as a commuter, but I think that is a problem at most UNIs

great university. good professors. just whatever you do, do not take susanna tardi! the worst professor i have ever taken in my life.you want to pass, kiss her a**.her name should be professor drama.ask her questions and she will try to make you feel stupid. she is manipulative. i do not understand how she is still teaching. teachers are supposed to encourage their students.she was so nasty to us on exam day. "if you need a grade grievance, you need to go through me" she said on the day of the final! how rude!!! she loves to feel needed by her students. never in all of my years of schooling have i been so badly treated by a professor. i only "respected" her because i needed to get through her class. nothing is ever good enough for her. she will insult your work and it does not matter how hard you worked on it. she will don't waste your money.unprofessional and rude! take somebody else, if you love yourself at all!!! b*tch i'm glad you're out of my life and you made my fall semester a living hell! i don't know how she sleeps at night. thank you maam

Like every college and university, you will tend to get out what you put in. I graduated in 2000, and my partner is going there now. I left with a BA in philosophy and went on to one of the most prestigious grad schools in the country, so I think they served me well. I had terrific professors (I was the only philosophy department grad in my year) for the most part; some really brilliant people who love to teach and are great at it. The art professors were wonderful, and most of my lab science people were great too. The campus is easy to navigate, though from what I understand the parking is still as problematic as it was when I went there. Be prepared to navigate or pay to park; it's not the end of the world, but it's annoying. The library is very, very good and the concert space is tremendous. I would almost go to see anyone there, but then they are pretty well known for their music program, so that's not surprising. I transferred there from Fairleigh Dickenson, and WP made it relatively easy to graduate in a timely way even though I was going part time while running a business. I felt that the tuition was in line with other universities off this quality; I never got any financial aid (because frankly, I didn't even think I could get any....) Bottom line? I think it's a school that serves may students well, especially returning students.

I went here for a certificate program, and it could have been better. I finished the certificate program and needed letters of recommendation, but many of the professors were too busy to give out letters of recommendation to former students. I was disgusted that many students are left to "bite the dust" so to speak after they graduate or finish their program. They only allow you to go to the career center a year after graduation, and this was something that I was not told until after I was laid off two years after finishing my certificate program and needed help. They don't do enough for their alumni who paid so much money while attending and cannot get resume help for future jobs as alumni. One of the advantages of being an alumni is that you can take out books from the library. In hindsight, I regret coming to this school because it was a waste of time. The professors don't care about you, and I am not sure if many of them are adjunct faculty. In my program, many of the professors were full time, either tenure track or not. I still wish there was a better support system for alumni after they graduate the school.
