Would leave no stars if possible. Promoted as something completely different from what was delivered. For the amount paid one would expect actual models and follow up jobs.Firm makes a big deal about "being accepted". Ironic because there was barely enough people in the class to learn makeup as the students were the models.Following graduation was supposed to receive emails with job opportunities. Except I didn't. $8000 for tutorials one could find on YouTube.Completely not worth price paidJust emailed the info you requested.

I just attended and graduated from SOME, and it was hands down the best experience of schooling I’ve ever had.April and Lindsey are extremely talented, caring, passionate and patient educators. They have so much knowledge in make up, the industry and are excited to share it with everyone who attends this school.I have learned an insane amount from the short time I was here, more than anyone could learn from a YouTube video or anything of that degree.They provide you with the top tier products and make sure you have everything you need to set you up for success.I truly cannot speak higher about this school, its employees, the energy and positivity it radiates. My fellow classmates are now friends for life and I will most definitely be back for molding and sculpting!I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this school for anyone wanting to start a career in makeup.10,000 stars for this school. ?

If I could give more stars I would. Going to this school was a lifelong dream. Ever since I was a little boy, I dreamed of being a SPFX makeup artist. Unfortunately, the only schools available was the Tom Savini School and it was too far and too expensive for me to attend. Once I found out about this school, I made it my mission in life to go. Fortunately, I was able to attend in 2021. It was the most fun and exciting experience I have ever had going to school. Everyone teaching was a master in the field of SPFX. I learned so much. I HIGHLY recommend this school over the others. Once I have the time and money, I will attend the school again. Thank you for Lindsey, April and Pete for an experience I will never forget.

School of Makeup Effects has changed my entire life!!! I always knew I wanted to be a makeup artist since a little girl- I had no idea what was in store for me attending this school! I met one of my best makeup girlies, I made a dream come true working for MAC Cosmetics and I now work full time for myself as a freelance makeup artist! Best teachers & mentors ever (who I still talk to today)! Best products, best knowledge, best environment, and BEST makeup school in New Jersey! I owe so much to SOME!!!

This school is unlike any other. Even when you think you know from self teaching, there’s still so much more to learn which is why I came here. The teachers and the atmosphere is the most nicest genuine down to earth place to be. I get excited to come to school even when I’m tired or not feeling well and that says a lot. The teachers care so much for each individual student and teach you everything you need to know about makeup. Every detail and aspect of makeup they go over. And it’s so organized and helpful and they make sure you get a future career in makeup. I loved every bit of it and would 100% recommend to future students. Best school hands down

Going to this school will be the best decision of your life! My Instructors April and Lindsey are super talented and passionate about what they do. The overall curriculum is taught very well you really do learn everything you need to be out there in the beauty industry! Super grateful for what I learned and proud to say I was a student of SOME!

Attending S.O.M.E was the best decision of my life!! I had the pleasure of learning under April and Lindsey herself! How many people can go to a school and say the owner was one of their teachers? April was very patient and motivating. It was a pleasure to be taught by someone with so much talent and experience. Lindsey as well, she was so inspirational to me and I’m sure everyone who was in the same class with me would agree! She is crazy talented! it’s amazing how much they believe in us when we sometimes don’t believe in ourselves! I’ve learned so much from this experience. Not only the skills I need to succeed in this industry, but also the confidence to believe in myself and know that I can achieve great things! And never did I ever feel like I was just going to class... everyday was FUN and exciting while also being informative! I looked forward to learning everyday here and I’m looking forward to returning for molding and sculpting!

I attended School of Makeup Effects last fall in Totowa and had such a great experience. Lindsey is such an amazing makeup artist and has great teaching techniques. After graduating I feel confident in chasing my dreams as a makeup artist. They are always reaching out to current and past students to be involved in many makeup events throughout the year. I highly recommend coming to this school. They have such a nice and friendly staff, Lindsey, Angelica and April are so helpful !

I attended School of Makeup Effects this past winter in Totowa, NJ. I have always enjoyed everything about makeup since I was a little girl, but it wasn’t until I became a student at SOME that I really saw that I could make a career out of this. Not only the owner Lindsey, who is so incredibly talented at everything she does. Owning a school and teaching all of her amazing skills, but Angie and the rest of the SOME staff are just as remarkable, genuine, and talented. I was able to build such amazing relationships with each and every staff member. I took the Journeyman course and Learned more than I could ever imagine, starting with beauty and ending with special effects! Having girls in class that came here after they have attended other schools in New Jersey, to then and say they have learned nothing compared to what SOME teaches! By far the best school there is with all the respect and talent. With graduating less than a year ago, I have gotten so many job opportunities to work on tv networks, films, weddings, music videos, NYFW, and tons more! If you are looking for a good makeup school in the area, School of Makeup Effects is your perfect match!

I am nearing the end of my 300 hour journeyman education at School of Makeup Effects. I feel I am receiving a stellar education and could not ask for more skilled instructors. April, who teaches beauty and editorial, is knowledgeable and takes the time to explain why you are placing product where you are. She is kind, patient, and has a wonderful personality! My special effects class is taught by Lindsey Novotny, the owner of the Totowa and South Amboy location. She is an extraordinarily gifted FX makeup artist and teacher. Owning her own businesses, teaching, and working in the field herself, demonstrates the drive and dedication she has to her profession. I feel the money my husband and I have invested in my future has been well spent! I would recommend School of Makeup Effects to anyone who asked me where I studied. This has been a eye opening experience thanks to these lovely, talented, and gifted women.
