ReviewWe stayed for a week at the end of June 2023. The hotel was recently bought by a company that owns resorts further south. We were told this is their first boutique hotel. It seems that so far they are keeping the beautiful and quaint aspects of this location. Pros ⁃ Amazing location: right across the street from the water. You have an access badge to Spring Lake beach. A few blocks from the downtown area for good restaurants. On site restaurant is good but gets a bit loud (Amelia's by the Sea). ⁃ Room 15 was good: we had our own spacious bathroom and it was at the end of the hotel. Bright and clean. No view but relatively quiet and large closet. Comfortable bed with super soft bedding. ⁃ AC worked! ⁃ Bikes available (fun) and even golf cart for town trips. ⁃ Alison, the manager is a gem. She is from here and had good tips. We enjoyed visiting some lighthouses she recommended. ⁃ Bikes, beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas all free and plentiful. Cons or Meh ⁃ Street parking: seems some rooms have designated spots on site. For the rest of us, parking on street during day and across the street in the diagonals at night. We always found spots but wondering how it gets during the busier summer time. ⁃ No real lobby or chill area. Outside there are chairs and umbrellas. Adding tables would be nice. Next door at The Breakers hotel we notice huge wrap around porch that had rocking chairs and other seating looking at them sea for guests. They also have a pool!Tips for eating around the area...Downtown Spring Lake walking distance and great dining selections. Honey Berry was our "go to" breakfast place - everything was tasty but my favorite was Heavenly Bliss eggs. (Marigold was further away from downtown but good for breakfast and not as crowded.) SL Seafood was great, as was the SL pizza and Belle's ice cream (gelati was the best). Dunes Donut and Bagels delish. The Scone Pony amazing but get there early; if there is a long line, it's worth the wait. The chorizo and cheese ball breads at Nick's & Son bakery good to take to beach.

I loved this place...it was originally the Letchworth Hotel and designed by a skilled cabinet maker. Peep the wooden banisters in this hotel. Allison was on hand consistently to answer any questions or address any concerns. It is SO clean. The linen, towels, pillows, you name it, it's clean and changed daily. The bed and pillows are comfy. Quiet time at night is seriously enforced. The hotel is right across the street from the beach and boardwalk.

Exactly as advertised on their website. Very quaint hotel, very clean and comfortable. Allison handled our check in process and was extremely informative during our stay. Offered to help with our luggage as there is no Elevator in the Historic Building. There is limited parking behind the hotel, I recommend arriving early and park on an angle directly across from the hotel. If not available you can park for free on the Streets during the day but at 6:00 pm your car needs to be parked across the street from the hotel on an angle facing the Ocean. See photo

This place should be condemned. My husband booked this place for a wedding we were attending and we're leaving after night 1 of a 2 night stay because...where to begin:- there's no elevator and all the rooms require climbing at least one flight of stairs. Annoying with luggage, and isn't this just straight up not handicap accessible.- front desk help is minimal. They don't staff a front desk person except for a few hours of the day.- we were assigned room 12, which is two twin beds. We could have made this work, but they were so freaking uncomfortable, I couldn't sleep more than half an hour at a time. And when I woke up, my body was in agony. My bones hurt! Horrible, serial killer beds.- there wasn't a closet, or even a single hanger in the room. We're here for a wedding: I have a dress and my husband has a suit that both needed to hang. We managed to get hangers (dry cleaner hangers, btw) so I ended up hanging my dress on a mirror.- this room overlooks the back parking lot, which means there are flood lights on ALL night. If you don't bring a sleeping mask, expect to feel like it's daytime all night. To say nothing of the noise made until we'll after midnight by the staff from the restaurant right below the room smoking and loitering after their shift.- the shower is one of those grotty plastic inserts, barely enough room for my 5'4" frame.I could go on and we've only been in this room for 16 hours. But suffice it to say, don't book this place, and if management reads this, DO BETTER.

Beautifully redone old Victorian hotel, right across the street from the beach. Modernized rooms, and pretty. Then there are the details- cheap towels, cheap bedding, no closet but a free standing crappy white flimsy metal frame with bars. The bathroom entailed a sink with no place to put anything & no medicine cabinet- just a mirror, a tiny table that held the towels so it was filled & not issuable. Where to out toothbrushes, mouthwash, etc? No place to put makeup to use in front of the mirror. One bar of soap to be used in the shower & the sink, so had to keep moving it & of course would forget when getting into the shower. Considering the hotel cost me $975 for 2 nights, far superior accommodations should be in order. Plush towels, better quality bedding, etc. Closet could be built in as well. Place has huge potential, but will they make the changes necessary? Not worth the money. I'd called the Breakers next door & 3 nights would have been $750 with better accommodations.

I've been here a few time & again this past Memorial Day Weekend. It actually gets better every time. Small but super clean rooms with comfy beds, extremely accommodating & friendly staff, and it's on the beach on the Irish Rivera! This beautifully kept B&B also has an excellent Italian restaurant on the first floor. It's very romantic and has delicious Gluten Free options and a cozy bar. Did I mention the phenomenal staff! You won't be disappointed!

If you are looking at reviews for The Grand Victorian definitely check the date on them. Based on our stay last week the place has been totally updated. Knowing that the hotel itself was over 100 years old I knew I was taking a bit of a risk but although the bones are old everything has been renovated very well.We rented room 18 which included a parking spot in the lot behind the hotel and 2 beach passes. Check the rooms out online because if I'm not mistaken they are all a little different. The room was bigger than I was expecting actually and everything looked new or at least freshly painted. Bed was comfy and the people were nice. The one stair case was a bit steep and narrow so I'm not sure if it would be a good spot for older people or folks with mobility issues.Staff was very nice and the restaurant on site was classy. Beach was not your stereotypical "Jersey Shore" but was beautiful if a little heavy on rules about what you could bring onto the beach.

Great hotel! We loved our stay, and will definitely return! The hotel is directly across from the beach - is clean, and the staff is courteous. I bought a season pass to Spring Lake this year because it's the cleanest, and most quiet beach in the Jersey shore. The Grand Victorian will most likely be my new go-to for weekend visits!
