Terrible customer service. DO NOT open an account here. Use a credit union. They actually care about your business. I'd go months without going into the branch and when I did, the folks inside were always different. No continuity, no consistency, nothing "special". In December I finally decided to put Wells Fargo out of its misery and close my emergency funds savings account. I went into the bank, waited 10-15 minutes for one of their "bankers" to free up, and asked her to close my account. The polite but apparently completely incompetent short, full-figured hispanic (I mention race only because I have no idea what her name was. Perhaps WF can review who was working that day and get this woman some training) woman at the desk on Dec 23 came over after the slightly less incompetent, short, full-figured black woman had relieved her since she couldn't apparently help the guy before me. I proceeded to work with her to close my account. SHE reviewed my account and setup the paperwork to close. I signed what I needed to sign and went to the teller to get my bank check. Everything seemed in order. Three months later I've received a collection notice stating I owe Wells Fargo $45. The banker didn't account for a few dollars in pending transactions. So then WF banged in a $35 overdraft charge. I called customer service. No help. I went into two branches. No help. The supposed "service manager" Susan Olsen at the South Plainfield branch where I closed my account was the opposite of help or service. Very rude, condescending and BLAMED ME. She even engaged another puritanical, old, shriveled up prune of a customer (I think it was her long lost twin) and again stated it was my fault for closing the account incorrectly. She apparently didn't have the mental capacity to understand that customers don't just close their accounts, that it's done via working with their bankers, and that if their bankers screwed up, it shouldn't be the customers that pay an outrageous overdraft fee. Common sense floated over this woman like a pigeon in Central Park but did not deposit anything. I asked her for the branch manager's card. She gave me her card. Moron. I gave her back her card and asked again for the branch manager's card. She promptly told me she was away on vacation until Monday and to have a wonderful day. I told her I would and was glad to be with my credit union where they actually appreciate customers. Obviously Wells Fargo cares nothing about their customers and did everything possible to ensure the fees remained. I negotiated with the overdraft department a lowered amount to just close this garbage out. My time is not free nor endless, having spent 3-4 hours total on this was enough. I am happy to use my credit union for checking and an online bank to get 10 times the interest rate than what WF ever paid me. WF is guaranteed to not even be in the running for any car loan from me, my wife, my daughter. WF will not even get a sniff of any mortgage or refinance. No savings, no checking, no money market, no investments. NOTHING NADA ZIP ZERO. I realize my combined balance of 100k is not Warren Buffet or Bill Gates level. I understand that. But for me, I value companies that treat me properly and with respect. They get my business. Those that don't, can kiss my a*** Wells Fargo should just rename itself to We'll F*ckyou and be done with it. Stop with all the pretense with customer service, retaining customers, and treating people with respect.
