Recently moved into the area from North Jersey and found this the closest supermarket. Compared to others I've shopped at, it's typical, maybe a little larger. Some observations:- bought Spring Mix salad here & at a warehouse vendor multiple times. The salad from here went bad within 3 days; the salad from the warehouse vendor lasted more than a week. Won't buy that from here again.- fresh produce from here just doesn't seem to be as ripe or last as long before spoiling as fresh produce from a warehouse vendor.- bought B & B Coconut seltzer. Noticed there are differences based on the color of the bottle cap. The bottles with white caps are fine and taste & smell like coconut; bottles with the yellow cap taste gross, certainly not like coconut, with no discernible smell. Bottling code for the yellow caps was 082323 CV L2B 10:02.Bottling code for the white caps was 102723 CV L2B 03:11.I informed Shoprite about this taste difference months ago and thought they corrected it. I was dismayed to find the yellow caps on the shelf again. (Given the numbers, it appears some were soon due to expire, but I can't be sure of that because I am not absolutely certain what those numbers indicate; presuming one is a "USE BY" date). Also, there are times when some items simply aren't in stock, though that's often beyond local control. There is another Shoprite in a neighboring town, and because of frequent travels near there, we've taken to shopping there more often.

Nicely kept but extremely expensive and the intl foods section is laughably small. Unfortunately this is your only option if you live in the area since the developer of this store owns half the town and chokes out any competition. Bought some fried chili, the only had one brand and it was $10 for a half full small bottle. Check dairy items especially as I've bought expired food without checking before. Staff are always lovely and store usually is not very crowded. Honestly wish it was a bit smaller.

I did my weekly shopping here since I was in the area. The store is big and spacious. The produce was fresh. Things were organized and easy to find. There was someone directing the self checkout line which was great. I would shop here again.

Christina did a fantastic job retriving my prescriptions from another pharmacy and getting me set up in their system. Even spent the extra time to make sure I was getting the best price. It was a pleasure to deal with such a professional. Thanks again.

this is my first time trying to use the ShopRite app for pick up. I placed my order and then tried to modify it a few minutes later, I thought it was doing fine until it would not let me check out and pay. I called their number at the store, they told me to call another number. they advised me on what to do, went through everything again, still would not let me check out. after a while, I gave up and went and ordered my stuff thru the Costco app with no problems at all. whoever is in there tech dept needs to look at their app and make some improvements otherwise I won't be the only customer they'll lose!

The managers here don't know anything about customer service. They act like they're doing you a favor if they give you a refund for a defective item, like it's coming out of their pocket. And now it's even worse - they THINK the policy is no returns whatsoever, even if they sold you a bad item. I tried to return a stale box of cereal with a 2021 date. They said the governor made a rule of NO RETURNS NO MATTER WHAT (due to Covid concerns)! Well if you look on their website, it says you can't return something UNLESS IT'S DEFECTIVE! So these managers don't even know their own corporate policy! They really think they can sell you something rancid, and too bad, you're stuck? I've returned items to Shoprite in Hillsborough - I guess they're a little more intelligent over there. One other thing - all World Class ShopRites have very poorly designed entrances. People entering and leaving share the same passage, so you're literally bumping into each other. It was bad enough before the pandemic, but now it's difficult to social distance when entering and leaving.

This store is great. I would give it FIVE (5) stars for the workers, the food, the cleanliness, etc.HOWEVER, the reason for the 3 stars is because it is IDIOTIC to have only ONE (1) men's room in a STORE THAT HAS UP TO 500 CUSTOMERS SHOPPING AT ANY TIME!!! By the way, this is NOT a Shop Rite standard. I have been to MANY other Shop Rites in NJ, where they allow customers to walk up the stairs and use the MAIN bathrooms! How do you expect HUMAN BEINGS to hold their #1 and #2 inside their bodies while your ONE men's room is being occupied by a person who has been inside for over 10 minutes?!? He either had a very SERIOUS issue with his health and should see a doctor OR he is shooting up heroin. In either case, I could not wait 10 min to pee so I went outside and urinated in your parking lot, SORRY! This is NOT A COVID-19 issue, you guys just don't want any "outsiders" to use your rest rooms! (If you are going to PUNISH your customers by RESTRICTING the use of your bathrooms, then, DO ME A FAVOR and RESTRICT the amount of people entering in your store!?! How come Walmart, Target and Costco have no problem allowing multiple people in their rest rooms? (OK, so maybe I have an ENLARGED prostate, but this is beside the point!) Fix your bathroom situation or I will just shop at Trader Joe's, Stop & Shop, Wegmans or Whole Foods, where they allow MORE than ONE person inside a ONE PERSON bathroom. PS: I have already contacted the board of health in Somerville and told them that your bathroom situation is NOT healthy for ANYONE. (I also saw another guy urinating in your parking lot....OK, maybe he was HOMELESS, but I am NOT homeless!) Even STARBUCKS down the street has TWO bathrooms!

The worst shop rite I have ever been to!! Everything is so unorganized. When food is not of acceptable quality it cannot be returned . Customer service is severely lacking at this store! Vegetables look almost rotten and are way over priced. Check out Whole Foods for quality produce at much better prices . Shoprite try's to pretend they have reasonable prices but for vegetables it is way overpriced for poor quality .

I've shopped here for over 20y spanning everything from being in HS ~1.5mi north to college years back in summertimes to young adult working commuting off the train station .1mi south to the dating days when I'd provision crucial date supplies here to the married days when we go big on huge orders here, most recently using SRFH (ShopRite From Home) their online order store pickup system with some stores supporting delivery via an external vendor. This ShopRite is by the Saker family. ShopRite is actually a co-op of family-owned stores using the branding and logistics of ShopRite whose parent, Wakefern, provides the crucial backbone ordering systems and distribution centers which make ShopRite so quick to respond to market demands, emergencies, and generally awesome. Their customer service is very bright as it's mostly staffed by veteran workers who're steeped or HS youth who're optimistic and happy to be social. The management is as good as supermarket management gets and I am happy they give so much to our community and we try to show our thanks in turn. The store is very large as it occupies double the former Pathmark which was demolished entirely apart from a few beams. The newness despite 20y since construction shows how immaculate the maintenance crews are, especially important in such times. Regional folks know Pathmark's downfall included its severely deficient maintenance and remodelling, errors that ShopRite avoids well thru its huge super-regional locations apart from a few remoter ones that're older. The parking lot is constantly busy, even during COVID, as the many stores which ring the lot as well as the surreptitious parking by train station riders (nearly zero now-a-days) all use this prime property in town, the still important de facto center of town other than the Courthouse .6mi east.Thank you ShopRite, workers, Saker family for all you do in these times, we will never forget the sacrifice and risks you take daily.

Every once in awhile I come back to visit the hometown...this store has definitely come a long way since it used to be a Pathmark way back. Like most places in central Jersey it's annoyingly crowded, and the suicidal Christmas music playing doesn't help either. Other than that it's just the standard huge ShopRite with the benefits...

This is a great ShopRite, always well stocked, great sales, friendly service and clean. It's also huge! So be prepared for some walking! Whenever I am in NJ visiting, I shop here a few times, to buy food for the week and to buy items that I love and can't find in Portland. Typically that means Italian pastries (Sfogiatelle and cannoli), pasta (frozen cavatelli, fusilli, Celentano ravioli) plus an occasional Drakes Cakes product (Funny Bones, TastyKakes, Devil Dogs). As soon as you enter there is a large Health and Wellness area to the left that has a huge variety of items. The bakery department has pastries that equal an Italian Bakery but for half the price. In the pre-cooked area there are so many delicious offerings spanning many cuisines. Italian, of course, and also Chinese, Thai, seafood, and American comfort foods. Makes it so easy for those that work full time but want healthy delicious meals rather than fast food. I've never had any issues with parking. Checkout lines move quickly. Always a positive experience for me.

I really wanted to give this store a better review. I really like their cleanliness, diverse selections & prices of on sale items, and I have had pretty good interactions with employees/managers. My bad experiences have been with fish/seafood that was not fresh...for example, it seemed that 1/4 of the on sale "live" lobsters that I bought there in the past three years were bad (I do know how to properly store/prepare fresh lobster, so I'm sure the problem wasn't me). Also, I have noticed this summer that the clams often seemed to have had a bit of a bad smell. Additionally, I had problems with dairy products (milk & cream) consistently going bad despite being well within the expiration dates. I have not noticed these issues with Wegman's (Bridgewater) or even with the departed Stop n Shop (Raritan). Ordinarily, I would say that some of my issues are due to the fact that "you get what you pay for", except that the prices for many vegetables, etc are even slightly higher at ShopRite than at Wegman's. I sincerely hope that this store gets its act together or I will have to restrict my shopping there to frozen & non-perishable goods
