“Historic Smithville Barn lodging was on point.
Our family wanted to try something different this year to celebrate Christmas, and Historic Smithville was on our list. The charming village truly resembles a Hallmark movie and did not fall short of that expectation.
Staying at the Barn felt safe and cozy. The only drawback was the lack of activities on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. All shops and eateries closed by 3 PM on Christmas Eve, and nothing was open on Christmas Day, so planning ahead is important.
The Wi-Fi worked well, there was plenty of parking, and security cameras were discreetly placed throughout the exterior areas, which added to the sense of safety. The bathroom tub didn’t drain very well, but it didn’t spoil our family fun.
One suggestion for improvement: it would be very helpful if the establishment provided a plan view or map with room numbers clearly marked, so guests could see which rooms they are booking. We wanted to reserve a room with a front porch but couldn’t determine which room numbers corresponded to those rooms.
Other reviewers mentioned breakfast—yes, it’s provided, but the selection is limited to muffins or croissants.
Overall, it was a memorable and cozy experience for our family, especially if you’re looking for a peaceful and picturesque getaway.”

“Everything was great. Reserved a table for 2 on Valentine's Day and they did not disappoint. If you're having trouble picking an appetizer get the burnt ends they literally melt in your mouth. The Italian wedding soup was amazing, the New York strip was cooked to perfection at medium rare as well as the asparagus, I'm not a mashed potato fan but my wife loved them from my plate. The chicken and sausage pasta meal was good just a little too much oil. Dessert was amazing as well, the lemon marscapone cake was stunning as well as the crème brûlée. The ambiance was fantastic especially with the complementary champagne while you wait for your table. If you're thinking of going I would say don't hesitate but definitely make a reservation I barely waited 5-10 minutes and was sat before my reservation.”
