Stayed at Drifting Sands this past weekend. What a great find. I stayed for a 2024 planning retreat…had a perfect view of the ocean, sunrise, etc. the staff at the front office were welcoming and very friendly. Will definitely book again.

Great location to spend a beautiful sunny day at the Beach! Rooms could use some touch ups as the paint on the bathroom molding is falling off. Nice staff.Nearby activities: Right on the beach, need I say more?

Rooms were dated, but fairly clean. Overall appearances were that of an older motel. Service was helpful as we had been traveling and needed to get some sleep off the road. Parking lot was sketchy. There is a lot of potential for improvement which would make this place much more worth the money for the stay.

Stayed here at the beginning of November for a wedding. Staff was very helpful with accommodating an early check-in because our wedding’s time was bumped up at the last minute. Rooms were pretty clean, large, but a bit dated. Rates were reasonable. Biggest complaint was that the bed didn’t have a comforter, a cleaning lady walked in unannounced to our room, and the AC wasn’t the best. Overall a decent spot, considering if you’re in LBI, you hopefully won’t be spending much time in a hotel.

Beware!!! The rooms are getting pretty dated and not worth the cost and after staying at this location for the 4th time and always having a decent experience 5 days after my stay an email was sent to me and stated I was being charged $250 because other people staying there said we were smoking on the balcony witch never happened if it did I would totally be fine paying that so watch out for extra charges 5 days after checkout.. definitely my last stay

I’ve been coming to the island for over 50 years, have stayed in many different places. Drifting Sands is by far the WORST. I don’t mind dated, I don’t mind the salt air mustiness of island life. BUT … I very much minded the dirty stinky elevator, the overpowering bleach puddles in the corridors (which I almost slipped and fell in) to the bad stink in the room itself. I felt ill after being in the room for just one hour and decided I’d rather go home than sleep there and get sicker. I asked for a PARTIAL refund if I left right away, never even having used the room. Management said ‘nope, too bad, you’re here for one night’. I was moved to a different room which was mildly better and tried to make the best of it - only to have the balcony screen door fall off while trying to open it, nothing but harsh LED lighting to add to my headache, a dirty, grimy feel on everything - the remote so sticky gross I washed it with soap and water, a filthy sofa, sheets of questionable cleanliness - they were sandy in between - and not from me, I showered just before getting in. The heater smelled like something was burning when running and there's only unsecured Wi-Fi. I considered a hot bath until I saw how dirty the jets were. I could have stayed home and had a nice meal for a quarter of the cost of this lousy place - which off season, empty in October was $240 / night. LBI used to be a great getaway but this dated place is not nostalgic, it’s just extortion of ocean front location. To make it worse, one cannot take a stroll anywhere as the never ending causeway construction has the roads torn up and trashed at the circle where the hotel is. That is no fault of the hotels but did add to the general sense seediness of this place. The front desk person told me that nothing could be done because it’s corporate (she did try to help with the different room and a complimentary cup of tea). I wish I’d read the numerous bad reviews warning people to not stay here beforehand. When I got the ‘sorry, too bad, it’s not mold it’s just chemicals for mold and bleach’ reply from management, I asked who corporate was. Blue Water Inc - and they do not have great reviews either. Seems to me like LBI is now a victim of its own success as the once-good places don’t feel the need to make an effort anymore. They gouge all summer long and to hell with off season guests. I do not mind paying a good dollar when a place is nice and I can enjoy myself. But that means something much better than a bygone, run down, shoddy rip off which is potentially harmful to health.EDIT & UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO REPLY: If in fact management felt sorry that I was so unhappy they / you could have done the right thing and courtesy of refunding half my money and I'd have just gone home. But you insisted on keeping every cent, no matter how dissatisfied your customer was - I guess being one of the few customers you do have pays the price for your slower day? The construction was the least of my concerns and I said that was no fault of the hotels. I only mentioned it for people wondering about walkability. But the chemicals, mold, broken door, dirty tub, filthy elevator, dirty sheets, dirty remote were of big concern and ARE within your control. I was willing split the difference and pay $140 for the hour I was in the room discovering how poor and unhealthy the place is. I've worked in hospitality and I have family members who own a number of hotels. NEVER would we insist on keeping money from a guest who was so dissatisfied and getting physically sick from poor conditions. But then again, we also wouldn't have such a neglected establishment. Greed and shoddiness were the issue, not the road construction. You could have remedied it with a partial refund (I didn't even ask for full refund because I know housekeeping still had to go in for the short time I was there) but you CHOSE not to. Which Indicates zero regret or care for customer satisfaction.Rooms: DIRTY. And almost zero guest amenities or courtesies. Not

Perfect! The staff is outstanding. The location is best you can get. Beautiful views. Dog friendly. Super clean and comfortable. This is an awesome property. Highly recommend it. Will be staying there whenever we go to LBI.

Avoid the place. Ignored type of room requested. Were ignorant at check in. Needs renovations. No hangers, soap, light in bath did not work. Told later switch outside bathroom! Why were we not told that when we asked for service! $300 for a Sun night in mid-Sept! Manager said he would see whst he could do next morning! How about credit my card $100! Right! Find somewhere else. Not likely you will see me again. And the light issue was NOT addressed.I was persistent and that is why any other issues were addressed. Not the most pleasant experience for 2 70+ ladies but that is life. Without the ocean view, the place could not ask 25% of what it charges.Rooms: They need TLC!!

Lovely beach with great rooms with balcony and view of the ocean. We saw dolphins from our balcony. The only downside is no elevator and no bathroom out at the beach,

Location is perfect but the staff and the service were not great. The staff was rude when we initially arrived, and it would take forever to get new bath towels and extra blankets because nothing was washed or ready for use.

Rooms were dated, but fairly clean. Overall appearances were that of an older motel. Service was friendly but mildly dismissive. No breakfast or complimentary items outside of the 2 cups of coffee in the room. Parking was tricky, only a handful of marked spaces. Which made parking very difficult as people were taking multiple spaces. The view from the balcony was amazing though. Beachfront rooms available. It was a wonderful experience for my family. There is alot of potential for improvement which would make this place much more worth the money for the stay.

We used Drifting Sands as a second lodging option for our wedding close by, and stayed ourselves two nights prior to our wedding day. The rooms were slightly outdated, but on par for a beach motel!Overall the staff was friendly, and the rooms were very clean! Location was great.Parking only includes one spot, so difficult if you are sharing a room with others and need space to park. Shuttle service the day of the wedding was great, and we provided our own small sign for this purpose, which they displayed to help our guests.

Lovely place. You will get your exercise going up and down the stairs, no elevator. Lovely balconies. Refrigerator and microwave so you can eat you own food and save $$ . It would be SO NICE to have bathrooms along the beach.

I don't understand some of the comments about this place, if you're looking for a five-star hotel spend twice as much and go to hotel lbi. For the price this place is great, it's on the beach, the air conditioning is cold, the room is clean, and the hot water is hot. Also comes with a fridge and microwave. My wife and I are in our forties and wanted to get away from the kids for a couple nights and this place fit our needs perfectly, plenty of parking walk to the beach walk to restaurants Etc. We will be back in the future.
