Yesterday the staff at the shelter helped rescue two dogs who had escaped their home and were running down Cliff Road in Seawaren. The staff members responded within 5 minutes of calling them, and were able to find the dog’s owners and return them to their homes within a couple of hours. They were so nice, capable and super professional. It was a wonderful experience to have been involved in and I cannot thank them enough! Woodbridge Animal Shelter ROCKS!!!

Drove 30min to shelter because of great reviews..we got there around 1:05pm we were there 5 mins..no one really wanted to speak with us or explain process for adoption..just told us where the exit was..every question was basically to call back.. .5 min..they just said to call for any questions. No one asked nothing about us.

We just adopted two beautiful cats from this shelter. They were clearly treated well during their time there. The staff is friendly, happy to answer questions, and made our first time adoption experience a smashing success.

Found a soaking wet, tiny kitten that had been stuck in the rain outside for hours, alone. Called animal control and was advised by a woman to bottle feed and bring the kitten in when they opened.Doing what we were told, we arrived and were immediately accosted by a male employee who told us that we never should have touched the kitten and bringing it in was signing its death certificate. He was extremely nasty. We were not even remotely rude when we came in, just worried about the kitten. They were the ones who told us to bring the kitten in. I tried explaining that and he just interrupted and became nastier then walked away in a huff. The other employees were much much warmer and kinder. They gave us as much info as they could, but they couldn’t take the kitten in as it was younger than they had resources to care for. It’s been weeks now and luckily the kitten is alive and thriving!! He’s a beautiful boy and we found him a lovely home. No thanks to the man who made us feel like murderers for NO reason. We were just people doing our best.Months before this, I called in asking some questions about local strays and how I can possibly help. He met me with attitude then, as well, for literally no reason. I have no idea why he works anywhere that he needs to speak to people, since he clearly doesn’t like them.Pics and weeks later pics of the kitty

I want to echo on the comment below that states that this place just takes government money. I’ve been living in Woodbridge for over 20 years. Every single time I’ve called about an injured cat or a stray cat- they simply say that is not their responsibility. Someone make it make sense!

They just spent government money. They DO NOT CARE ABOUT ABANDONMENT ANIMALS. There is more harm than help.

The staff at WAG are incredible. They make sure the dogs they are adopting out are ready to be adopted. They let you spend time with the dogs before choosing to adopt.

Don’t bother submitting an application online they don’t check their emails not sure if they even have internet, submitted an application 5 days ago and no communication. Went there yesterday to see and play with the cats we put the application for online which we also did in person. The cats were already adopted by someone else. My girlfriend was heartbroken and no communication what so ever.

Found through petfinder while looking to adopt two kittens. Met them in person and provided a deposit of $100 to secure them. Once I was there, they had fleas and diarrhea. After leaving, I felt something was off and canceled adopting them within less than 12 hours. They have not returned my deposit after requesting several times. There is nowhere written that the deposit would not be returned if they are not adopted. I would caution adopting through here and go to another shelter that has better business practices.

I adopted my cat from WAG 10 years ago. My life has changed a lot since then and I had to surrender my 10year old cat, which absolutely broke my heart. When I surrendered him back they took him with open arms. I was worried with him being a ‘senior’ that he wouldn’t be adopted. I called a few times to check on him. They were happy to give me updates when i called and he actually got adopted in about 2 months, only a few days after he was posted for adoption. Thank you, WAG, for giving me the chance to love Mason. And for giving him a second chance with another family. I am absolutely elated that he’s happy. He took a piece of my heart with him.. I will love him forever. ❤️
