So we went there to possibly look at puppies but for small animals u have to make an appointment but the lovely Chris was kind enough to let us browse because we drove out from NY, she's a very passionate lady she loves animals and she's very direct in a jovial kinda away. I have to say these facilities were very clean the animals looked happy and lively with lots of room to run and play all in all if she does get more puppies we will go back ? ❤️

I donated 40 cases of cat food to this local shelter in my town. The staff is very friendly and caring. They were very thankful for my donations and assured me that all the food would be distributed to all the enemy cats they could reach. Was a pleasure to visit this location and I hope more people come to the shelter and adopt a pet

Chrissy is rude, condescending, and so unwelcoming. Honestly will never adopt from here Sheerly because of how unpleasant this woman is and I never interact with her again. The rest of the staff is nice but Chrissy is not a pleasant person.

Caring people that love their furbabies. Dogs, cats & all animals. Clean building with grounds for outside play. Staff members are engaged, filled with much compassion as well as educated with a wealth of information to share on each rescue. Including my dog ❤️ "Who Rescued Who?" Thank you for all you do❣️

We called Secaucus Animal Shelter and checked if they accept donations and if we can get some treats for animals and spend some time with them. The lady on the phone heard us and clearly said yes we offer donations and you can come anytime in the afternoon before 4pm and spend some time with animals too. We came all the way from Jersey City with big donation and when we reached there guess what happened ? … we were told by the same lady that we do not allow people to play with animals and that it is not a “Zoo” that you can come anytime and see and play with animals. Hello ???? You are the one who said we can come and it’s allowed else why would we come there in the first place. How can you contradict yourself? If you cannot answer basic stuff on the phone then am sorry but just wonder how many people would have experienced this and other kind of issues here . You just wasted our Saturday. Overall this place did not give me positive vibes too. Just rude and arrogant behavior especially from one of the old lady. Never coming back to your “Zoo” again. Learn to answer basic questions correctly first.

Very professional and kind. Our neighborhood cat was hit by a car. Andrew from animal control came to pick her up so that she can get medical attention. He understood right away that she was not just a feral cat. He took her to the vet and followed up with me on how she was doing. The vet tried to help but her injuries were too severe. I believe the people of animal shelter did all they could to help her. Support the animal shelter! They are doing good work!

As someone who has been here before, Yesterday I felt SO unwelcome and uncomfortable standing at the front door. No wonder people shop and don’t adopt! I 110% understand that the staff were getting the dogs ready to “go out”, but I had also asked to see any cats or kittens available. I was told they don’t do “looking around” and I had to go on Facebook and choose an animal and fill out an application. Just my personal opinion but when looking for your long time friend, I want to be able to interact and feel comfortable about taking an animal home, not just pick a cute face on Facebook. I also know staff members don’t want to waste there time on someone or a couple who they don’t think is a fit (which again looks can’t tell you much about how a family would treat an animal) ,but having to stand at the front door and explain my life story to 3 not so friendly people was unbelievably uncomfortable and off putting. We were welcomed to come back but only if we had filled out an application for a specific animal. Overall my experience yesterday was very off putting and makes me realize why it’s so much easier for people to spend 3,000$ on a pet then to try to jump through all these hoops just to adopt. I will still be “looking” for a furever friend but definitely not here.

We had a great experience at Secaucus Animal Shelter. We had recently lost our beloved dog of nine years (also a rescue) and were looking to fill the hole in our hearts with a new furry family member. Chris guided us to our new pup and helped us facilitate a smooth and quick adoption for Latte (aka Scout). I think that both Scout and our family are settling in quite nicely and are happy to have found each other!

In response to Mr. Carrington’s review - The Secaucus Animal Shelter was open the day you abandoned your cat outside the facility with numerous staff inside. For someone claiming they don’t condone the mistreatment of animals or animal abuse, you left your cat in a crate with the door wide open for him to escape and possibly (and god forbid) get hurt. When the staff discovered the cat, he was under one of the parked cars, scared and traumatized. So please, if your going to give a story, give the right story because animal abandonment - we don’t tolerate it.

In our search for a new pup we tried easily 8 different shelters and this one is a standout. It’s small and lovingly run by Chris and her team who dote on the animals and give them lots of love and snuggles while they await their forever homes. The facility is clean and there are no crying, barking, stressed animals like you see in other shelters. I felt like when we met the dogs we could really see their true personalities and affect because they were at ease which made it easy to find out perfect match. Paperwork was straightforward and communication from finding him to adoption was clear and easy. 10/10 recommend!

Dropped a cat off for someone cause its the closest shelter. They weren't open yet but would be opening soon but I had no time to wait . I left the cat out front where it would be seen. I get a call from Secaucus police 2 days later fining me for abandonment of an animal , a local ordinance they have which is follow by a court appearance. I don't condone the mistreatment of animals or abuse but don't bother doing the right thing it just causes you more trouble.

I highly recommend this shelter for adoption. The facility is super clean and the animals were well loved and cared for. The process was simple. Complete the application and interview. The staff was helpful and informative for all my questions. Dash is home and very loved!!! He completes our family!

What an amazing experience !!! Everyone is so helpful and knowledgeable at the shelter. Today I brought home my first fur baby, Dash ! They made sure he was loved and cared for until he was ready to go home. I’m forever grateful for everyone at the Secaucus animal shelter that helped make adopting my puppy possible ! Safe to say we’re already in love

I have just started volunteering at the Shelter in June and have been an animal lover all my life. Honestly, I am very impressed with the Shelter and staff and other volunteers. They really do care about the animals and are dedicated to finding them homes and a comfortable life while at the Shelter. The place is very clean and well organized. Some people may be disappointed if there applications are not approved. But remember it’s all about the animals welfare and there are always multiple applications for an adoption. If you see an animal up for adoption on their website don’t hesitate to apply and check their website daily for new adoptions.I would trust them with my own animals. If you have the opportunity to donate, please do. They need food, blankets, towels anything to help the animals.Their mascots Precious and Brooklyn are the best. Love them!Michael
