Our 3.5-month-old budgie began showing symptoms of illness (diarrhea, fluffing, sleeping on both feet), so we immediately brought him to the only vet open for 100 miles - unfortunately, it was this one. Bad energy as soon as you get through the door and it didn't get better. Although I initially appreciated their promptness in triaging our bird and taking him into the back, interactions with the staff and other pet owners did not reassure us. The nurse asked if we wanted resuscitation performed if necessary without explaining the rather gruesome risks associated with performing chest compressions on a budgie - even when prompted by my partner, who has more experience with birds than me, she hedged, leaving it to my partner to explain the trauma this can cause to a tiny bird body. We were given a couple of options to begin hopefully diagnosing his illness, then settled in for a long wait.During that wait we heard from other pet owners who were also there - one gentleman had been waiting for 7 hours; a woman was $4,000 into diagnosis/"treatment" for her cat and still had no idea what was actually wrong with the animal.Fast forward 5 hours ourselves and we made the decision to take our bird home, rather than subject him to sedation, x-rays that could not be read for another 24 hours and an overnight stay that very likely would have resulted in him dying in this awful place. *THIS* is when the nurse asked if we wanted fluids for our bird. We were STUNNED. The greatest danger to a budgie with diarrhea is DEHYDRATION and he was back there for FIVE FRICKING HOURS WITHOUT FLUIDS? We had assumed this was one of the first things they'd done when they'd taken him back there because it's the bare minimum level of care anyone could have provided. They finally gave him fluids, prescribed antibiotics, and sent us on our way (I will say that they vet herself was very nice and struck me as a compassionate person, which was the one positive in this entire experience). Our beautiful budgie died in our home the next morning, and while I suspect it was inevitable by the time he began showing symptoms, I am still appalled that even the most basic care was not administered until we expressed our desire to leave.TL;DR this is an uncaring, incompetent money-extraction machine preying on loving pet owners. If you can go anywhere else, don't set a foot in this place.

Been here for 6 hours plus. No one has checked on us. I've had to bust and push for answers about what's going on. No access to water for my dog. Been waiting over an hour for vitals on the dog so we can leave. This is ridiculous

To start, I am a GP veterinary technician; needless to say, I am picky about the professionals I trust my animals with.I have gone to NorthStar many times for many different reasons, and I have always had a high quality experience regardless of specialty. Most recently, I brought my 6 year old Dogo Argentino, Judge, to Dr. Stobie for a consultation for Total Hip Replacement surgery. I’ve been aware of his hip dysplasia since he was 2 when NorthStar first took his radiographs, but he had been asymptomatic and very active up until recently. He had started to hesitate when jumping into my car, which was very unusual. Dr. Stobie ended up discovering through x-ray and MRI that Judge had a lumbosacral herniated disc compressing nerve roots. As it would turn out, it was this issue causing him discomfort, and the hips were a secondary concern and still surrounded by plenty of muscle for support. Dr. Stobie did not want to replace my dog’s hip and not address his pain, which I appreciated a great deal.Surgery was hugely successful, and I can’t say enough good things about the staff at NSV. Receptionists, assistants, technicians, doctors, and everyone in between have all always been kind and professional. I am lucky to have such an excellent referral hospital so close to home, and I can’t recommend them enough.Edited to add that Dr. Anderson also recently did surgery on one of my cats and was the epitome of professionalism and just absolutely wonderful to deal with! Top notch doctor.

I had the best possible experience with my dog's recent appointment and surgery. The facility is absolutely beautiful, everyone was friendly and kind and the surgery went flawlessly. I was kept up to date and pictures were sent to me while he was in their care. It was very obvious from my experience why NorthStar Vets has such a great reputation.

This place was a horrible experience for my dog. My husband and I brought him here due to excessive drooling as we thought he ate something toxic and didn’t want to take any chances. The doctor who saw our dog misspoke and told us he thinks our dog might have cancer . CANCER ! Who says that without knowing for sure ? This Dr then told my husband we might have to put our dog down … but he is not sure but to be prepared. Awful statement to make to a dog owner unless you 100% certain that is the case. Turns out he misdiagnosed our dog and our dog is healthy as an ox. We felt like our emotions were played with and can’t imagine why a Dr would even say that word if they aren’t 100% sure that’s our fate. To make matters worse, whatever drugs they gave our dog to keep him sedated for his X-ray made things even worse and our dog got very sick . Since we’ve been home he’s been throwing up bile and in even worse condition than before we brought him in. We now have to go see our actual vet once they are open so we can figure out what is really making him sick. We were not comfortable or happy with our experience. I would BEWARE taking your dogs here. I am reading other reviews for this place as well and it seems many had a similar experience. Definitely get a second opinion and if they tell you to put your dog down check with your main vet. I am not convinced they know what they are doing …

First visit to NorthStar, and we were very happy with the care our rabbits received. We had an emergency visit late at night after our two rabbits had an altercation. We were checked right in, met with a technician who took our rabbits right to the back to begin their assessment. Not too long after we met with the doctor who had evaluated both of our rabbits for their injuries and talked us through what she had saw, the plan of action and of course the estimated cost. Dr. Singleton explained everything clearly and we felt very comfortable moving forward with treatment especially for our one rabbit who had some quite large wounds. We chose to wait for both rabbits to be treated and returned to us which did take a few hours, but there was a lot to be done. We were graciously checked in with on numerous occasions by both the technician and Dr. Singleton, and I have to say this made our experience feel more personal. We were able to take our two little ones home, feeling exhausted but relieved knowing they were now safe and healthy. Thank you to all the staff that helped us on 1/15-1/16, we truly appreciate all of you and the wonderful service you've provided to us.

Our three year old Corgi over New Year weekend chased a pack of deer and came back limping and only walking on three legs.We reached out to NorthStar on New Year’s Day and she was seen that week.Since her operation the North Star team - from the doctors to technicians to front desk staff and now rehab team have been amazing and INCREDIBLY responsive. Our little corgi is very smart and figures out many ways to get to her incision. We sent in daily photos with questions and within minutes the teams responded and when needed took us in quickly to check her out. They care deeply about our treasured pet and are part of helping us make sure she fully recovers.Their customer service is truly one of the BEST!Thank you NorthStar for all you have done for such an important member of our family❤️

Do not bring your pets here! They caused my dog to suffer. Had her in surgery for her leg. Opened her up and she was riddled with cancer. Instead of calling us they continued with the leg surgery and kept her for a few days. Money in their pocket. A few days later we had to have her put down because she was suffering with the cancer. Surgery never should have been done. Any reputable vet would have called and informed us of the cancer. I had a vet do that years ago with my cat. Why pay for surgery if the pet cannot be saved? Because you are nothing but a money hungry vet who doesn’t care about the anyonly the almighty dollar! Terrible people at a terrible place. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

We brought my almost 17 yr old dog in with a severe nose bleed out of nowhere, we were scared to death . We called and brought her right in and they were waiting for her. They calmed her and us down, and took such great care of her. They were gentle and caring, and they got to the cause. She is no longer sad and in pain and is running around like a puppy! I am so thankful to Dr Singeton and staff for taking such great care of out furbaby! The before and after pictures speak for themselves!

Dr. Jeong and his support staff displayed exceptional professionalism and compassion. Our 11 week old puppy, Noah, was diagnosed with severe tricuspid dysplasia. Sadly, he had a grave diagnosis and ultimately had to be put down. Dr. Jeong was truly the light we needed in the dark time we were experiencing. I can not thank him enough for all he did for us.
