My husband and I usually get the same excellent dishes every time we go to Il Colosseo , but last night we decided to try something new and we were not disappointed. Our server extraordinaire, George, knows our tastes and suggested the Seafood Salad as our shareable appetizer ...which was spectacular. We both ordered off the special menu, my husband ordering the Gnocchi with barrata and I ordered Rigatoni Puttanesca with purple figs. The sweetness of the purple figs is amazing....FABULOUS dish. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the gnocchi, remarking how the burrata added a perfect touch - he finished his dish and happily shared some of mine ( though I tried to get the most figs ?). We finished the meal with Espresso Crème Brûlée. A perfect dinner in our favorite restaurant.

Always a great time at Il Colosseo and delicious. We shared an exceptional pizza for an appetizer. I may go back for just for that!!! The dinners were very good except the sole special was a bit too acidic for my taste. Service was divine and dessert was fantastic. Get the connolo!!

It wasn't super busy and We were seated right at the back near the pizza oven. There is a refrigerator close by and was obviously acting up and was very noisy. The staff had to plug it in and turn it off and on a couple of times. the waiter added on an extra drink and dessert onto our check. could have been a mistake but was sort of buried in the middle. He did apologize and fixed it. feel like it's getting a little “old” in there now since they first opened.

As regulars we know the food, service and ambiance is always superb. The special Scottish salmon dish warrants particular kudos...perfectly cooked with a tasteful mango sauce. We also tried, for the first time, the homemade Oreo cheesecake. Yum.

Always a delicious meal and service! From the greeting when you walk in straight through to dessert! Food is always fresh, waiters are well-versed on specials and the menu. And now, they have a liquor license and there are some good drinks on the menu too. Never disappoints. Definitely worth the trip!

The food was very good. Service is very good. The restaurant was so noisy, we had to scream to hear each other. The restaurant is a BYOB. They added a $15 charge for opening our wine. I refused to pay this charge and they removed it from the bill.

From Start to Finish our food and service was excellent!! We enjoyed a Special Salad of the evening, big enough to share with two. My wife and I had the Halibut Special which was very special. My brother enjoyed the Chicken Colosseo and his wife enjoyed the Salmon Special. Portions were very good and price was competitive. This is one of the better Italian restaurants in Monmouth County. We highly recommend it.

All the food is delicious but make sure to try the fried artichoke appetizer, amatrciana for pasta, and the pork chop for main course. The wait staff is very professional, and know how to time the placing of the order, spacing between appetizers, dinner , and dessert just right. They bring plenty of bread too which is also a plus when you're eating Italian food. Too many places don't bring out bread anymore.

Great experience as always , food is delicious and nice service . If you bring your wine there is a cork fee , but they got a license recently so there are options of cocktails and wine as well

We didn't realize it was BYOB because they have a drinks and wine list. However they charge you a corking fee of $15 per bottle then an additional $10 for each bottle, which is outrageous. You can get wine cheaper than that! We started off with an order of clams, pear salad and the special calamari with sweet and sour sauce. Everything was delicious! For our mains two of us ordered the chicken alla nonna, which were outrageous. My friend enjoyed her branzino. I absolutely devoured my Il Colesseo gnocchi, except it was soaked in the pesto sauce...but the bread was sooo good to soak up all of the excess. We didn't have any room for dessert but I'm sure it's good. The atmosphere was very nice but there were a lot of kids. At least they were quiet lol. The reason for the 3 star rating is because the prices, especially for pasta, are sooo incredibly high! $37 for gnocchi is unbelievable!!! However it was definitely one of the best I've ever had...highly recommend! Xoxo

We had a delicious Branzino and Veal Special dinner with robust cocktails in honor of my husband's birthday. The food was very fresh and perfectly prepared. It felt like we were the only two diners in the restaurant. Food was served piping hot. Surprisingly for a Monday night, there were tables set for three parties. Obviously the word is out that Middletown's Il Colosseo is the place to go for a memorable meal and outstanding service. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Our go-to favorite Italian restaurant because the food and service are consistently excellent. Beautifully arranged entrees make for notably superb food presentation, and the attentive service is not matched in the area.

We went early 430 so crowds hadn't arrived and so noise level was acceptable. Pear salad was delicious and my pizza Melanzane was Very Good too. We also had the Vongole which was Good with plenty clams but a bit salty. Not a BYOB (recen) and Prices were a tad higher than expected. 4.3
