Clients be aware of the unprofessional behavior of management ( Mary Confer ). I received a letter that they will no longer be able to provide further care of my dog without explanation. The record attached to said letter did not belong to my dog, but to another patient not related to me . Upon my last visit I witnessed that the wrong medication was given to a client .
Protect your pets and your Wallet as I have no confidence in this hospital!!

Very informative, kind, and compassionate staff. I brought my cat in today for scabs on his chin that he scratched open and bleeding on and off. The girls at the front were very kind over the phone and in person. They were able to fit me in same day within a few hours. My little old man doesn’t like to be handled much especially around his face but the doctor and technician were very gentle and patient with him, giving him breaks when needed. I’m very happy with the care received today and learned that cats can have acne like humans! We got some medicated wipes to go home with and he seems to be more comfortable already. Thank you Dr Pascucci for taking care of my boy

My visit to Randolph Animal Hospital with my dog left me feeling concerned about the care provided. While our initial call to the front desk was knowledgeable. The visit felt that there was a focus on excessive testing rather than immediate comfort and improvement for my pet. Additionally, I was taken aback when antibiotics were withheld until further testing was paid for, which amounted to a significant cost. I also observed another family expressing similar concerns about potential overcharging after a visit. If you visit this location I do not suggest Dr. Michele Arculli. We will not return here. Response to owner- he was given nausea medicine to go home and was not given any antibiotics. He was solely given an injection pack so he didn’t get dehydrated and refused to treat his ear at all without testing even knowing previous history and the need for the antibiotic to help him feel comfortable for the current infection.

A cautionary tale to avoid American Animal Hospital at all costs!!!
The back story of my situation is we adopted a puppy through a shelter in Randolph that uses American Animal Hospital to spay and or neuter their puppies, so we would be getting our puppy fixed here. We came to find out that the puppy’s original family used American Animal Hospital as their vet for her, so all of her vet paperwork that we were given when we adopted her were from American Animal Hospital. It felt like a no brainer for us to continue taking her there to keep consistent with all previous records.
When we called to transfer her account to us since she was surrendered to the shelter and then to us (with signed paperwork from her previous family surrendering all rights), we were told we could not take her there unless we had paperwork signed or her previous family who SURRENDERED her called to transfer ownership to us. We were also told they could not change her name in the system without this permission. With our dissatisfaction with this situation and the way it was handled, we took her to a different vet, and could not be happier with them. We took her to Flanders Veterinary Clinic and could not be happier. Unfortunately for us, we then found out we had to use American Animal Hospital to get her fixed through the shelter. Long story short, after asking multiple times, they refused to change her name in the system and only referred to her as her old name throughout the entire time we took her here.
We then got her fixed through the shelter after all of the frustration already.
They completely botched her spay, resulting in a variety of other issues including a stomach that is completely shaved and an unrecognizable dog that was acting so abnormal making us extremely nervous.
They called to let us know that she was bleeding more than normal, so they would be keeping her for observation for longer. They told us it was no reason for concern and she was doing okay.
When we picked her up, they casually mentioned that she was not breathing right after anesthesia which they had never mentioned before. It was clear the situation at hand was much worse than they originally told us.
After we got her home, we noticed her scar was way larger than we anticipated, literally spanning her entire stomach so we questioned it. They cut her an extreme amount without telling us! We obviously would have given permission to do this if it was a life saving measure which it was, but we were never asked, or even told. We are now a month out from surgery and she has had nothing but complications since that our other vet is working to fix, which has cost us a ton of money.
They gave us a variety of situations to take her to the ER about if any of them occurred, and they literally all did. They are unreachable even during their open hours, and their texting program doesn’t give you a response for days.
Now, our dog is completely terrified of the vet and acts unlike we’ve ever seen when we take her, requiring sedation for just routine visits. It is just so sad.
I cannot express my dissatisfaction with the customer service, the maltreatment of my puppy, and the extreme fear in my puppy of the vet now. Save yourself from the same situation and go elsewhere. I could not be any more dissatisfied and sad for my puppy.

Update: I felt the need to do this, because under Dr. Vogel's care the dog SUFFERED for what, 56 days? No parasite prevention, no weight taken her first two visits. No notes on her new lumps, no notes on my calls about her excessive drinking or diarrhea. Help with her painful ears and itching paws which was not enough. NEARLY a month or more after my first complaint. When I asked too many questions, Joey yelled, "our vets know how to do their job"
If that was true, why did I have to KEEP ASKING for treatment?
Why when I came in with her crackling lung, and I said I think she's supposed to get surgery when this clears for lump removal according to the rescue. I said, IDK why they would do another surgery on a dog who is not eating and got sick from one surgery, but ask the rescue and get back to me. NO ONE DID. NOT THE RESCUE AND NOT YOU. OH, that's right CAUSE Dr. Vogel said, the dog was aggressive and failed to treat her. Oh, and Dr. Vogel said the FIRST hematoma was from a toy I gave her and the crackling lung was because I took her to PetCo. Not the surgery her bad health and all the painful itching she was doing. That's why she got more hematomas AFTER I threw out the toy and stopped taking her places per your treatment. So, seems you were wrong.
Just like the rescuer said I gave her too much treats and THAT was why she had bloody diarrhea and puked so much it filled a 650 square foot space. Or, maybe vet incompetence. IDK you guys refused to answer my questions and send me her blood work results to me. You didn't even dispense metro, I HAD TO ASK A RESCUE WORKER TO ASK YOU. My messages all disappear.
I kept making the same complaints and then Fatty Cakes, MY dog's name is FATTY CAKES. Kept getting sicker. Then when she had blood filled stool and vomited all over and started falling over two days later, you all told me it was "normal diarrhea" so, I knew I couldn't keep coming where my complaints for Fatty Cakes, fell on deaf ears.
NEWS FLASH: HEALTHY DOGS DON'T HAVE CHRONIC INTERMITTENT DIARRHEA.
YOU ONLY HELPED THE DOG AT ALL AFTER I STARTED GETTING PISSY. I HAD TO FIGHT FOR HER TO GET TREATED. I hate to fight, but much like Fatty, I do not suffer fools.
I'm sorry, I measure the dogs water and I KNOW a dog drinking nearly 200 ounces of water, but having dark urine isn't normal.
I'm sorry you don't agree with facts. I'm sorry your other vets don't know what dogs in pain can act like. I'm sorry because your staff didn't like ME, they treated a dog poorly.
I'm even MORE sorry you or the rescue would defend such bad behavior and make me spell out your short comings for you.
I would certainly hope all involved learn from this. I know I did, NEVER help another dog from this rescue, just like I learned ALL the other crap rescues and vet offices to avoid. This is just two added to the list.
Fatty Cakes will enjoy whatever time she and I have left together, because no one will ever treat her like less than again. You're welcome.

Reprehensible, but VERY American.
The LACK of quality care provided by Dr. Vogel. The vet who is afraid of dogs in pain. My dear, you picked the wrong profession.
Joey, the front desk staff. It's her job to be nice. She isn't, therefore she gets paid to do nothing.
I'm glad I decided to adopt my fospice so she and I will never suffer human incompetence again.
When people feed ego instead of facts, animals suffer. If negative stars was an option I'd surely choose that.

American Animal Hospital has been very accommodating and helpful for my personal pets as well as the many shelter animals that I bring there to prepare them for adoption. They have gone above and beyond to help in a pinch and have saved the day on many occasions. Thank you to the entire staff for all that you do to help your clients...especially the shelter animals that need a little extra TLC. Your compassion and professionalism does not go unnoticed. Thank you! Erika Barkman

Really friendly staff, but very expensive.
I brought in my senior cat to be put down, I had no choice because my vet was out of town for the weekend and I couldn't justify waiting. The staff was so nice, and friendly and caring, so I appreciate that especially in such a tough time. I tried to do the right thing and support my local vet in town since I lived around the corner, but I wish I looked around more.
I was blindsided by the cost when I got there, and on top of the expensive cost to have my cat put down, they charged me an extra $60 for a "MEDICAL PROGRESS EXAM" which they didn't actually perform any exams. While they did a really great job, the cost of putting down my cat was 2-3 times the cost of other places nearby.
I never got a copy of my bill while I was there, so I reached out to via their contact form, hoping they would be understanding that it felt unnecessary to charge me an exam they didn't perform for a cat that obviously wasn't going to return, and their response to my email was just a copy of my bill, with literally no response to my thoughts or concerns, just an empty email with an attachment. Which felt cold and a little passive aggressive.
Figured worth sharing for anyone looking to bring a pet in here for an urgent need.

My elderly large dog was in pain. The team helped get him in and out of my vehicle, was informative about my options, and relieved his pain. He is doing great after treatment and we have some more quality time together.
