Brought 2 different online orders to this store to return on Feb. 19th. Was told, despite it stating on the Michael's website that online returns can be made in store, the associate refused to accept them. As usual, only one person was working, despite their being a line so I didn't push it. . I had to go thru the trouble of creating the returns, printing the label, packaging them up, and taking them to the UPS store. MAJOR INCONVENIENCE! I drooped then off to UPS on 2/21 and they were very slow in delivering, and even when the package was delivered on Tues. 2/27 at 1:17 pm,, no communications have been sent or refunds have happened from on Michael's despite me being able to track that UPS had delivered. I called tonight (Sat. 3/2) to check in the status and they had to create a case but were able to escalate the return of the funds to me. I was and i told that the store was supposed to accept the return and that they would be speaking to the store manager. I will not be shopping at this store (if I even ever shop at Michael's again, which after this experience, I am really not inclined to) because the store associates aren't truthful.

I just had a terrible experience. I took a picture in to be framed and a couple was ahead of me. They had a large picture to be framed and it took time to review their options. Completely understandable. I waited 15 minutes initially and then decided to grab a few items and come back. I did so and waited another 20 for them to finish the order. About that time, another woman came up. The sales associate looked at both of us and said to give her a few moments to take the previous customer’s picture to the back. When she returned, she started to help me with my order. The other woman interrupted and asked if she could “just pick something up”. The sales associate immediately left me to help her. This began a whole other exchange that left me waiting time and again. I am incensed. I never interrupted the other customer and waited patiently. It’s the worst money I ever spent. I should have just left.

I had a good overall experience at the Michael's in Princeton. I was looking for a particular paint to repair my kitchen table. An associate named Sarah was friendly from when I first approached her for assistance and did her best to help me, even taking the time to look where I might be able to find what I was looking for elsewhere. I found the paint. The woman at the checkout line was very friendly, smiled, and referred to me as sir more than once. I didn't see her name but I was in on Sept 8th around one pm. More and more people who choose to be in customer service jobs don't have a good attitude and can be rude to customers. I will avoid a store or an entire company due to rudeness. The people that helped me today did well and I'd return if I need any other products Michael's offers.

This Michaels has gone downhill quickly! They have people standing around at the registers, and the employees tell you use the self check out. I will shop at Amazon from now on. If it was a corporate decision, you're heading in the direction of losing a lot of business.

I was close to being a fan of this company and location. Then I started to think about it. I actually liked a craft store in my neighborhood more, and one that was close to a supermarket I shop at. But Mikes put them out of business I guess. That's why I had to stop by this store instead. Competition is good in a free market economy so I just thought, no harm no foul, at first.... The store was fairly easy to shop and I've been here before at least a few times. Aisles have overhead signs that list categories that are contained within. It was an easy task to find my way to their scissor department. In their defense they did have a decent selection. But I was no ordinary scissor customer. I had an exact brand and type in mind, neither of which they carried. So my choices were between a more expensive item that was similar to one I was replacing. And a cheaper one that was close to what I wanted but not quite designed in a clever way. I went with the cheaper of the 2 and had an easy checkout experience. I also received a coupon for 30% off my next full price purchase. I even contemplated going back at some point to use the coupon on the more expensive pair. But eventually I googled the brand name I was looking for. Yup, this company is still going strong and the item I sought out is still widely available....... But only on Amazon as far as I can tell. And it was even a few bucks cheaper than the poorly designed pair that I settled for. I'm less a fan of Amazon than I am of Mikes, so we'll say squeaking in at 3 stars. I'm going to continue to look for my desired scissors in small craft stores. I'm telling you right now, wherever I find them that store gets 4 stars at least for valuing quality over profit margin.

I like Michaels a lot! Despite, that I'm not very crafty, I still like this store. The store is quite medium to large, and has a great variety of craft supplies. The store has a good variety of felt paper, craft utensils, a lot of frames, and mostly everything else you would see in. a craft store. It has the same layout as most Michaels stores. I've actually only been to this one and North Brunswick, so it did look like the one by my home. The store is moderately priced, and has good deals.

Don't be duped by their phony coupons! Yesterday I went there to have a photo matted and framed, armed with my 70% off coupon. I figured it'd be a great time to get the work done at a minimal price. After choosing my mats and frame, the saleswoman (very nice, pleasant person) explained that I shouldn't be shocked when I hear the full price - $1000.00! The discounted price would then be around $320. For two mats and a frame for a 20" x 30" photo. I answered that no one would ever charge so much for framing, and they are artificially raising their price to make it look like a 70% reduction. After some haggling and her brief conversation with the manager, they lowered my price to $210 and I took the deal. She told me that before the coupon sale the full price would have been in the upper 300's. So, it's a scam! Next time I'll just go to my local framer and give my business to an independent guy who doesn't play games. I hope the work is good quality - stay tuned.

Came here to grab a couple of things and had a good experience overall. First, and most importantly, the woman who was working at the framing desk was extremely helpful and considerate. We didn't actually end up using her services, but she gave us lots of good advice on how to best frame our two needlepoint canvases. The other employees were also helpful and the store had a large selection of craft materials, as expected. I definitely think we will be coming back here to do some crafts shopping!

Maria is rude and not helpful. We asked simple questions and she was short tempered and had an attitude.

As it turns out, people who work at craft stores can be jerks too! I am clueless when it comes to crafts, but a friend of mine is very crafty and her birthday is approaching so I wanted to get her something that she could use. After wandering around the store for 20 minutes and getting totally overwhelmed and confused, I happened upon 2 employees. Let's call them Clueless and Rude. After explaining my situation to them and asking if there was such a thing as a "kit" I could get, Rude (older lady, green fleece, no visible name tag) smirks at me and goes, "No. No we don't do that." I ask if they could suggest some sort of collection of things I could get as a gift, and Rude replies "you're asking if there's someone we pay to help you pick out things to get?" I said, um... yes? Rude basically laughs at me and says, "yeah, no. I gotta go teach a class." And walks off. Clueless (younger, wearing the store uniform) then explains that each employee has an area of specialty... and hers is painting, so... yeah, sorry. At this point I was so frustrated that I just mumbled thanks and tried to go figure something out on my own. Eventually I settled on "paper crafts." Remembering what Clueless said, I found her again and asked, "so is there anyone in the store who specializes in paper crafts?" She asks me to hang on and calls over her earpiece to see if someone can help. As it turns out, someone can. I'll call her Professional. Professional meets me in the paper crafts aisle and proceeds to walk me through the various options, pointing out items that might work in a gift basket of sorts (e.g. "You can never have too many of those!"). She was basically the opposite of Rude and Clueless and the only reason why this review is 2 stars instead of 1.

I will never go to this store again. I walked around for 20 minutes trying to find someone to help me and did not see one employee. The only person I saw who might have worked here was walking around talking on her cell phone about taking a yoga class. I needed a generic item, but all they had was Christmas-themed stuff. It was more like being in a Christmas Emporium than being in a craft store. I don't understand how on a busy Sunday, you can have absolutely no employees working in your store.

I had the most wonderful experience when I brought in two items to be custom framed recently. The framing clerk spent so much time with me, helping me pick out frames and matting that I really loved. She showed me mock-ups of different styles and suggested colors that would go with my walls. When I went to pick up the completed work, including a framed painting by my late grandmother, I actually teared up because it was so beautifully done. She took time to make sure I would be 100% happy with the finished product. Very highly recommended!!!

I came in hoping to be quick. After about 15 minutes of looking around for the item I wanted, I gave up and started to look for an employee to help me. Turns out that was the more challenging thing to find in the store. I had to ask the ONE person at the register and he gave me terrible instructions because he was clearly busy. I came back and asked him again after looking and he finally walked me to the corner of the store to find my item. When we went to checkout, the line was long. Ridiculous how they can only hire 1 employee to run their store. This is not the first time I encountered the understaffing issue here. There is a target next door with similar products and 10x better shopping experience.

The store is quite large, however, it is not so well organized. Why are acrylic paints in two very different areas?! Makes it hard to compare items. While the staff could not help me so much, since what I wanted to do was very specific and more for science than art, they tried very much to help me, and that was appreciated. If they can reorganize in a better way that makes more sense, then I would definitely appreciate the place a lot more. Otherwise, nothing else is all that different from any other Michaels chain I've seen.

As a yarn shop, if you don't mind mostly synthetic yarn or imported knitting needles and crochet hooks, it isn't bad. It is a shame that they don't stock better quality, American made products.
