Larger than a typical hotel room. Had conveniences you're not always sure if you're going to get (i.e., fridge, coffee maker: keurig, plenty of lighting, extra bedding materials, large couch & chair, decent sized desk, large dresser & roomy closet with slider-sized mirror, plenty of space around the bathroom sink & good-sized bathroom mirror, hairdryer, iron & board, shower with tub, and luggage holder) and an exit from the room to the outdoors (in place of enclosed patio) but more awesome because it's an entry door that you can use your room key to unlock.
Probably the best thing about this hotel was the included breakfast buffet in the morning - wow. Delicious! The second best thing? The Red Berry Creme Brulee Cake from the C-Bar (restaurant/bar inside the hotel). I could eat 10 of those. Honestly.
Wish I brought my bathing suit so I could've tried out their indoor saltwater pool!
If you want to know about tiny (minor nitpicking) details that weren't perfect? Pen in room looked sticky, tub didn't have grippy texture (almost fell when I got out for a second and tried to get back in), couple stains in carpet outside my room, and front desk person didn't know if c-bar restaurant (inside hotel) had dessert on the menu when I called them from my room to ask. The person said I would have to go there to find out - it's right next to the reception desk (vs. 4 to 5 hallway walk for me). On the brighter side (for my belly and wallet), I didn't know about the Red Berry Creme Brulee Cake the first night cause I would've probably had 15 of them by now.
Rooms: The great parts:

The not-so-great parts:
- Pen in room looked sticky
- Tub didn't have grippy texture (almost fell when I got out for a second and tried to get back in)
- There are a couple stains in carpet outside my room
- Front desk person didn't know if c-bar restaurant (inside hotel) had dessert on the menu when I called them from my room to ask. Safety: As the kind of person who is pretty vigilant about safety, I definitely felt more relaxed here compared to many other hotels I've visited. It's a couple miles out of the way (like 3 or 4 miles from shopping areas), in a largely grassy, campus-like area, and not on directly off a main road.
Food & drinks: Probably the best thing about this hotel was the included breakfast buffet in the morning - wow. Delicious! The second best thing? The Red Berry Creme Brulee Cake from the C-Bar (restaurant/bar inside the hotel). If you love Creme Brulee and the texture of Tiramisu, you will love this cake! Came with fresh strawberry slices, too!
Noteworthy details: The food alone makes this place worth it. I will probably be dreaming about the Red Berry Creme Brulee Cake for a few weeks.

This place really nails it. Great service. I especially like the friendly breakfast staff. Best hotel breakfast you can find. It's always clean, relaxing setting. They think of lots of ways to comfort guests including having pillows with a range of firmness on each bed. I look forward to our next visit. Thank you!
Nearby activities: Terhune Orchard down the road has lots of activities for kids and adults. The market is expensive but has lots of nice food items. It's a great stop; we've been several times.

The room was ok, there were several dead bugs on the ceiling and in the corners on the floor. Probably the worst thing about this hotel is that they decided to test the fire alarms at around 9 am without telling us they were going to do it. Why wouldn't you inform guests that there was going to be an alarm test? I had just gotten out of the shower and my two 8-year-olds were scared to death and wondering what was going on. The alarms stopped as we were leaving. Since we were all up, we decided to get breakfast. We asked the receptionist where it was and I was told it was over and ended at 9 am (I swear it said 10 on the information online). I won't be recommending this hotel to anyone, the surroundings are beautiful and it's close to Princeton but the hotel itself and staff and lack of common sense of management leave a lot to be desired.

The rooms are big and beautiful. The entirety of the Chauncey estate is so green and lively with trees, a fountain, etc. The restaurant (CBar) and complimentary breakfast are delicious with great service. The complimentary parking is so convenient. The one thing I cannot get over is the front desk employee I encountered for the majority of my stay. I communicated around 6 times with her including phone calls, check-in, and check-out. When I first talked to her, I thought her rude and annoyed tone was an anomaly. I simply assumed she was having a bad or tired day. This was far from correct. Every time you talk to her, it feels like she is repaying you for killing her entire family. I work in the service industry so I understand it is tiresome. But morning, afternoon, and night, this woman has this same energy and manner of speaking. It is criminal

I found Chauncey on The Knot and they were my first venue tour and left a long impression. After seeing several venues and discussing logistics, my now husband and I settled on Chauncey. We were hoping for a Saturday, but settled on Sunday. After a couple of months , we met our new venue coordinator, Becca, who is amazing. She was always professional and responsive to any questions we had. The food was good for the rehearsal dinner and the reception dinner. They were very accommodating of last minute decisions like adding a memory table. Everything went so smoothly that I barely had to worry. All of the little details were displayed just as I envisioned.
The suite we used was large and spacious. One of our guests did have a problem with their air conditioner not working, but were able to move to a different room and slept comfortably. I didn't use the Laurie House, but the outside was beautiful. The Brodsky Gallery was a great location for everyone to mingle and meet post ceremony and the empanadas were delicious. We also elected a donut wall through Chauncey versus a cake through their preferred bakery. The pork roll and cheese was delicious as well.
If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely choose Chauncey again as our wedding venue!

The Chauncey is a 1 star hotel with 4 star pricing. I had one of the worst experiences at this hotel. My room with filthy. There were little bugs crawling over my side table. The thermostat didn’t work. It was so hot in our room. The beds were so uncomfortable we couldn’t sleep and the sheets were paper thin. I had a pet friendly room which led to an outside area but it was all muddy. My sister and I were covered in mud every time my dog had to go out. I was here for my friends wedding which was beautiful but the hotel staff was so rude and un welcoming. I had a guest complain that my dog was barking even though we were in the pet section of the hotel. My dog was with me for most of the time and the front desk tried to accuse me of neglecting my dog. The guest then got in my face and started screaming at me. I packed up my stuff and left early. The front desk staff was so unhelpful. They should have just moved the other guest. They said they would give me a refund because I didn't want to stay. Then I had to call multiple times to get my refund for them to tell me they decided to not give one to me. I missed the entire last hour of my best friends wedding because I had a guest harrass me in the hallway and the staff could care less. I have been trying to talk to someone for days but they are avoiding my phone calls. Barbra was the woman at the front desk and she kept sending me to voicemail so I had to go in person to talk to anyone. Never stay here.

Lovely venue for a wedding we attended! The grounds were gorgeous and the tent setup was so pretty. The bar-tender, Ricardo, was amazing. He was so attentive, fun, friendly, professional and made great drinks! Overall great experience.

We had our son’s wedding at the Chauncey Conf Center last evening and all I can saw is WOW. They did an amazing job from check in, set up , ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. All our guests commented on how wonderful everything was and how it was the best wedding they have been to. Many many thanks to Aramark and the entire staff who made this night super special for our families. A special shout out to Rebecca Dickson who worked so hard and paid attention to every detail in making the night so special.I would highly recommend this location for any of your special occasions.

I don’t like doing this, but it needs to be said. I’m planning a vacation in your area. After reading the reviews I chose not to stay here. Your bad reviews are all the pet appropriate rooms. I understand you keep’us’ in the same accommodation to prevent allergies and guests w/o animals appeased. I happen to have a service animal that would have been staying with us. When I hear ‘bugs’ and ‘barking’ due to other guests false claims. I move on to the next hotel. I hope your staff and management take appropriate action. It’s disappointing to hear a place go under because management doesn’t know how to handle it. Best of wishes

The Chauncey was the location for my son's wedding. Absolutely better than I could have imagined. To start, Rebecca the wedding coordinator is outstanding. She handled everything from start to finish. She was easy to access and was able to change things as needed on the spot. Her staff also great from setting up to breaking down..They even took careful concern to box up all of our wedding centerpieces.
The Laurie house is an absolute must if you are having your wedding here. It was a great place for the wedding party to stay and it gave us full access to the grounds to allow the wedding to spill out onto the grassy area for corn hole and fire pit. Having the house was super convenient for rehearsal dinner and for prepping the day of the wedding,
The food at the wedding was great. Large portions for a wedding. Cocktail hour ran smoothly with plenty of food.
The DJ has to set up on a side stage so the speakers were set back from the dance floor--it definitely was difficult for people seated on that side to hear (especially with hearing aids). I honestly think that is the only downfall from the reception.
We did host rehearsal dinner here. We opted for the casual barbecue. There was another wedding going on and I think that impacted the staff and food for us. The food for the dinner was all cold -but there wasn't really anyway to correct it--it was what it was.
The actual staff at the hotel were super kind and considerate. I did get some negative feedback from guests when they called the hotel from whoever was answering the phones but nothing at the hotel itself. They offer a full breakfast (eggs, bacon. sausage. fruit, yogurt--everything)--and I think there were snacks in the afternoon. The rooms were pretty standard but comfortable-no issues. The hotel does allow pets so you could potentially run into a yappy dog

Good hotel tucked away a few miles from the Princeton campus. It's my children's favorite hotel out of those in Princeton. It's not the closest to campus but that also comes with some upsides as well. Easy parking, easy load/unload, good for families with young children. Rooms are large and clean.

They need larger TVs in the rooms.

Chauncey is a 3-star hotel according to their own confirmation email. Google incorrectly misclassifies this as 4-star when in reality it's a 3-star. Somewhat outdated room decor, but spacious.
