hired me for training on 10/18/2024. told me i would work tuesdays and thursdays. i worked almost 4 hours for them just for them to tell me i dont get paid for training (which is illegal). she also let me ago a day after i did the training saying "you dont have to work we hired someone who has transportation". i DID have transportation, my father drove me. she didnt like that i relied on him.
my co worker offered to drive me home since my father wasnt able to pick me up for a couple hours. she happily agreed and even declined the gas money my dad offered.
also if you check any of the reviews for her on almost any website theyre all horrible. for the most part all the animals looked healthy but she has sold several sick dogs to families. one kennel had hundreds of flies in it, i assume it was from the pumpkin they put in there but either way thats not good for the dog. they also told me that during the winter they leave the dogs outside saying "they can handle it" yes dogs can withstand colder weather bit not to the point of completely living outdoors. along with the fact that they have 4 dachshund puppies. dachsunds are not bred for cold weather even if they are long haired. also shibu inus are also not bred for cold weather. those dogs need to be inside

Hired local youth "under the table," let them go via text message after one day and is now refusing to pay them for the hours worked. Multiple terrible reviews across several platforms. If they treat their help that way, how do they treat their animals?

Terrible experience with this breeder…highly unprofessional and downright rude to my daughter. We went to see the puppy and my daughter fell in love, so we decided to purchase her. I asked if I could run to the ATM since they would only accept cash, and I was told that I could do so. However, the owner’s demeanor quickly changed when she realized I didn’t have cash on me for the transaction. We drove ten minutes and I received an abrupt email stating that the puppy we had selected was no longer available and that another customer came after us and bought her. We were literally sitting at the ATM and it was only 10 minutes later! We weren’t given any kind of heads-up about another customer coming after us. Something was definitely amiss, considering that these two puppies were “on sale” and the owners treated us so poorly after realizing I did not have cash in hand. The entire interaction was extremely bizarre and unsettling, as she either gave our chosen puppy to someone else or just outright lied. I had been warned by another customer that the owner was a bit eccentric, but I didn’t expect to be treated like this.

***PUPPYMILL***.
I cannot caution enough against this place. It is a puppy mill. My two-year-old golden died from cancer. I will be happy to speak to anyone about this review directly! Please reach out before you go here.
The owner will respond to this message saying it is my fault. I have the email where she blames pesticides, heartworm treatment and even having the dog neutered. None of that is why, her breeding is why.
Two-year-old dog with a splenetic mass that ended up being lymphoma. This is not caused by anything else other than their breeding methods. No family should have to go through what we did because of this place.
Once again, I will be happy to talk to anyone about my situation, so they don't make the same mistake I did.

Horrible! Sold us a sick puppy. It was a very traumatic experience. Stay away from this breeder.
Response to owner: Yes, I do not currently have one of your puppies. My husband and I had to return the puppy after our vet deemed him not fit for sale. He should never have been sold to us. Having to listen to the puppy cry out in pain for the 5 days we had him was very traumatic (I will save any potential customers from having to listen to the video but I have it if needed). No one should have to listen to it!! We luckily were protected by the New Jersey’s Pet Purchase Protection Law. Anyone looking to adopt a dog, make sure you know your rights!

We cannot be happier.

Selling sick puppies, blaming owners. Straight up a puppy mill that keeps dogs in horrible conditions. Don't trust this breeder. They seem so "amazing" on paper but once you get into the nitty gritty their practices are disgusting. No proper breeder would sell a puppy with coccidia and then blame the new owner when that takes WEEKS for any dog to get. Demonizing vets. Pushing an improper unbalanced raw diet of nothing but ground meat. Literally disgusting. I've never hated a backyard breeder more

My wife and I picked out a Pup on Saturday we drove 2 hrs up and spent an hour around the facility. We finally picked our pup and the breeder informed us that he had has grade 2 bilateral luxating patellas and the breeder led us to believe that it wasn't a big deal he'll grow out of it and won't need surgery. (None of us in the room were licensed vets... we chose to believe the "reputable breeder" an ""AKC registered Breeder"") There's no way she did not know he was symptomatic as we had him for less than week and on 5 different occasions his knee popped out of his socket and he gut wrenchingly screamed for several minutes as if he broke his leg unsure of why he was experiencing so much pain. He'd limp for 20 minutes after.
Our vet’s professional opinion is that since he is already symptomatic, he will very likely require bilateral knee surgery in the future and will likely have arthritis . To our shock and dismay she then educated us on the NJ pet purchasing protection law-the lemon law- and that's the news that broke us. Our vet deemed Dunkin unfit for sale and also mentioned that he may have aggression issues. We were absolutely floored I was in disbelief and my wife was crying.
After the Vet visit we made an emergency visit to our Behavioral specialist. All went well initially but after being picked up he snapped at her which is the second time that's happened, the first being my wife's dad... And she said that that is attitude and aggression. We've fostered a dozen puppies when they no longer want to be held they wiggle and whine. They don't snap and bite, regardless of teething. Regardless I do believe that enough dedication and training could possibly fix any issue but never with a 100% certainty. We could handle the surgeries OR the aggression issue but not both.
We loved our Dunkin and there is a hole in our heart and wish the best for the pup. We will be starting a family soon and can not afford the heartbreak of seeing him suffer, the multiple surgeries and rehab, lifetime medical treatment, the potential for more medical issues to arise, the potential aggression, and the unknown factor of mental and emotional repercussions on a young puppy.
It's not our fault and certainly not dunkin's, it's the breeders'.

I would not recommend getting a puppy from Icewinds. We got a golden retriever in the beginning of May. Everything was great and we were happy with our puppy. But, she was sleeping ALL THE TIME and would barely get up and play. But Karen told us multiple times that since she’s a baby she’s going to sleep all the time. So we brushed it off and thought nothing of it. When we took her for her first new patient and puppy wellness exam, they were concerned and we found out that not only was this puppy anemic, she was dehydrated and lethargic. We’d only had the dog for less than a week. We had to rush her to the hospital and get her tested for UTI’s, Parvo, worms or parasites, etc. We found out she has coccidia. And coccidia takes weeks to even show up in a dog, but we’d only had our puppy for not even a week. But she ended up having to be hospitalized overnight and needed an IV to be stabilized. When we got her back and she was started on her medicine she was a normal puppy. She had zoomies, ran around, and played like a normal puppy, so the occasional nap times. We reached out to Karen explaining the situation and she told us that adult dogs don’t get it (they do) and that she probably got it here from drinking a puddle or something. I watch her ALL the time, outside or inside, and I know for sure she did not drink anything. Also, nothing about this dog changed from the time we took her to the vet from when we got her. We were given a sick puppy. Another thing that was frustrating, the night after we got our puppy i messaged Karen thanking her for our puppy and that we love her a lot. I let her know that our other dogs like her, and that she already knows sit and is hardly having any potty accidents. Out of the two days, I maybe spent about an hour with her actually awake, and the rest was just her sleeping. In Karen’s second email to us regarding our puppy being sick, she accused me of “spending too much time with the puppy” which is probably what caused her being sick. What? She’s acting as if I spent 24/7 with this dog not letting her catch a wink of sleep. But that’s not the case, I actually enjoyed the extra nap times. But imagine how heartbreaking it was to find out that what we thought was a calm and laid back temperament was our puppy being sick and lethargic. I don’t mind that she isn’t what we thought she was, I just wish we knew that she was sick because we could have helped her sooner. We’ve had our puppy for about two weeks now, and she is active and very smart. She is very eager to learn and loves playing outside with our two year old dog while the elders get some rest inside. If they tell you that you need to let your puppy sleep all day, I would take it to the vet ASAP— a puppy is supposed to play and then nap and play some more, not sleep all day with maybe a five minute play time. I am beyond disappointed with this breeder.
They also tell you to feed them raw food or they’ll get very sick if you don’t give it to them. The raw food made her throw up every day and the vet recommended we do the immediate switch to kibble and she did just fine and stopped throwing up. I don’t recommend the raw feeding because it is definitely a hazard and a risk for lots of medical problems such as salmonella and parasites. Be very careful, or at least cook the meat and heat up the goats milk.
I have exceeded my character limit but I have some more to say that I typed into a note, and I’ll be attaching a screenshot below.

Was a pleasure to buy a pup from Icewind’s. He’s 3 months old and we have only have him for less than 2 days but he is the cutest, sweetest and well trained puppy! If we were in the market for 2 pups we would have taken the girl also. Very social pup took him to my job and he was so calm when everyone met him….and he was perfect on the 2 1/2 hr ride back home

Not sure where the bad reviews come from, but I got a shiba from icewind in Oct of 2021. She was about 3 months when I got her and the cutest thing ever. At first, I was a little skeptical because the communication was a little weird (only email) however, everyone does things how they do things! When I got there, which was after 8pm, Karen waited for me even though they were closed. The puppy was there waiting for me as well. Karen was honest about everything, and she did not pressure me to purchase or anything. She explained that the Shiba I was adopting has a luxating patella and told me what that meant now and going forward. I paid a reasonable adoption fee instead of the price to purchase due to the condition. Karen made sure I was okay with the possibilities of the condition needing treatments in the future and she did not get annoyed when I kept asking questions. Fast forward over two years later, I have a loving amazing Shiba and I honestly don’t even remember my life without her. Her luxating patella has had zero effect on her, she can certainly outrun me and all of us, and she is super healthy and happy. She is so affectionate, cuddly, and loves every human that she meets. People ask me how my Shiba is so friendly. I think it’s because of the socialization that Karen provides. Yes, Karen can come off a little strong, but it’s because she cares about her dogs and wants to make sure they will be placed in a good home! I went back to icewind about a year or so later to look at puppies again and although I didn’t buy another puppy yet, Karen let me see my shiba’s mom and dad and they even interacted with my Shiba! Her dad was SO COOL!! If/when I do buy another Shiba, it will definitely be at icewind. If you want a loving Shiba from an honest breeder who really truly cares for her animals, then icewind would be the place to go.

It is over 4 years now that we got our Shiba ( MoMo ) from Karen at Ice Wind. And we love him to death !! What a great dog ! We do not regret the decision to get a Shiba . And I should tell you , Shiba's are difficult dogs !! Not a dog for the faint of heart. We bought him for our daughter who has never owned a pet rock . And it looked like a disaster . So , I took him back from her and started to work with MoMo every day . I got bit 4-5times and we fought on a daily basis to get him into his harness and walk on a leash. Tough Times. During this time Karen was very helpful , her experience handling Shibas was extremely helpful . And now he is my best friend and constant companion. He will never be friends with our other dog , A Pug . But at least he is no longer trying to kill him !! I would put no faith in any of the negative reviews I have read, NONE ! These folks know thier dogs !! Thier advice before we even picked up the puppy was extremely helpful. They talked to us extensivly about thier diet , Vaccinations and the importance of socialization . Don't let the negative reviews throw you off. If you want a Shiba and you are in for the long haul , Karen and Ice Wind is the place to go.
