VERY hit or miss depending on who helps you. I will be contacting the Red Cross directly about my most recent visit. The manager (?) Mary is the kindest, gentlest and so skilled. Marion is also a fabulous phlebotomist who I always hope will be helping me. Almost everyone else, but especially the first person I was with this evening, has me questioning if I will ever return to this facility.

I'm glad others had good experiences, but not me. No one was at the desk when I walked in, and it took 5 minutes for someone to come help me. The woman who then came to help me was quite rude and unhelpful. I will go to a different center next time.

Sign said to ring doorbell. Pushed the only button that looked like a doorbell. Noone was at the front desk. I waited for close to 10 minutes for someone to come to the door. She asked when my appointment was, which was now about 15 minutes prior at that point. She said hold on, then came back and stated, "Due to your tardiness, you are going to have to reschedule." What?!? I told her I've been waiting for someone to let me in for about ten minutes. She asked if I rang the bell and then asked which one. I showed her the one I rang, and she pointed out that it is marked CPR, so it was the wrong one. It's the only one that looks like a darn doorbell! I will never donate blood at this location again. This woman has no tact. To say something like that to a donor is rude and unacceptable. Due to her tone and treatment, this location is receiving one star. Instead of scolding me, the correct response should have been, "Thanks for coming out, but we are really backed up and can't squeeze you in now as it may impact other donor's scheduled times. So sorry for the inconvenience."

My most recent visit was not the best, however for the most part, the staff was pleasant. The back end process was fine, the front end with scheduling has been an issue almost every time

They are the sweetest group of people. They treat you like family. They are with you and take care of you from the moment you get there until you leave. They don't stop letting us know how much the donation means to them.

I wanted to review the American Red Cross overall. I think that they are a wonderful organization for obvious reasons!!! I have the utmost respect for everyone in the health care profession, especially angelic (for the most part!) nurses! The American Red Cross usually has the most amazing nurses working for them. Last night, at my donation in Somerdale, NJ, was no exception. A sweet older man, named Frank, not only did my check in, but also my donation. He was friendly, positive, and gave a great stick. We had a nice conversation as well. Frank even told me to help myself to the snacks in the cantina since they would just be sitting there when they left. So I did, and my son was thrilled w/ the Ritz and mini Oreos! Every now and then you'll get some free "swag," which is nice, but I can care less. I've been donating off and on since I was 16. I feel it's my part, helps my community, and my great type of blood mixes with all other types. Yeah, that's me ;) If you've never thought about donating, please look into it.
