“I forget the name of the dark haired man with curls and a beard, but he was awesome! He definitely introduced himself to me and then asked me my name. I walked in after finding this place on Google & seeing the reviews were great. I drove around like 5 times to find parking! Lol, I really wanted to go in! But anyway, dude was very pleasant to chat with. I'm very inquisitive by nature, and he answered all of my questions with grace & patience. He even showed me how the work the cup of smoke thingamajigger. He gave me honest reviews on products I asked about. He gave vibes that he loves his job, and I love that for him! Just because of him, I'll return again when my supplies are low! They have a plethora of choices, and that was greatly appreciated. Thanks for the great experience!”

“I happened to be in the area of the 3400 block of Sansom Street today in West Philadelphia and a familiar sign caught my eye from 22 years ago; Avril 50. Avril 50 was a regular stop in my patrol days and I loved walking into the shop. Always the wonderful aroma of brewing coffees and chocolate dancing with other exotic smells and the smells of fine papers and magazines. It always felt to me like stepping from West Philadelphia into a magical pocket of Europe. As it looked exactly the same, I wondered if anything had changed in the past 22 years and as soon as I crossed the threshold, I found that it was the same - like stepping back 22 years, yet somehow I was that much older. The proprietor was still there, still the same and looking no different - something that confirmed my belief that this was a magical and wonderful pocket paradise tucked away on a small West Philadelphia street. A brief catch-up chat, a shopping bag of fine teas and a perfectly brewed double-espresso to takeaway later; I stepped back into the bright Fall sun of West Philadelphia. I found myself smiling as I sipped the espresso, happy that one of the best things for me in that neighborhood has remained unchanged for others to enjoy and to continue to discover. It will not be another 22 years before I make my way back - that is for certain.”

“I stopped in the other day for a handful of cigars expecting to peruse, grab a few of my go-tos and checkout but the wonderful lady working the front desk walked me though almost their entire selection, showed me all kinds of new stock they had just gotten from a trade show and introduced me to a bunch of brands I had never tried before. She was so friendly and welcoming, this was my first time in the shop but I left feeling like I'd been a regular for years. I usually buy my cigars online but from now on I'm shopping here. The Smoking Dog exemplifies a small business done right.”

It has a cozy, chilled laid-back vibe and the employees are awesome. No pretentiousness about the vibe here at all. Jared and Jim made me feel welcome from the moment that I walked in there. “Me and Harry's go way back but I hadn't been there in a while. The "new" location definitely works! The selection is still top notch and the service excellent. The upstairs lounge is more than worth the basically 2 cigar minimum purchase (technically a $25 minimum cigar purchase regardless of how many cigars). Comfortable chairs, nice electric fireplace, beverages and BYO and the Game is typically on one of the two TV's which aren't super loud - it's nice to actually have a conversation or a quiet smoke.Speaking of a good smoke, the ventilation is excellent, which means you not only have comfort but get to truly enjoy "your" cigar. That selection I mentioned is a very good one. The humidor is very well stocked and covers every palate from the newbie to the true connoisseur.I'm biased but speaking as objectively as possible, it's one of the best little cigar shops in the US.”

“They come through super clutch every time I've ever used them. I recently started using puffco products, and my atomizer broke. I knew they sold puffco rigs, but did not think they had all the accessories you need as well, and they were fully stocked!! I thought for sure it would have been more money to buy the puffco there than ordering online, but I highly regret not using them as they offer the same price as puffco and stand by their products! As a local, this is hugee!! Instead of waiting until the wknd to use my peak again, it's back in action better than ever with a new atomizer and dish at the best price possible. They have a wide selection of all e rigs and lots of other cool stuff! Best in the Roxborough/ manayunk area! To the girl that helped me tonight, I'm sorry I forgot your name.. but you were more than helpful and extremely friendly!! Thanks again for everything ?”

“I am disabled and use a wheelchair, when Sam sees me coming, he comes right to the door and opens it for me, he is such a nice person. He always has what I need and if I have any questions about rolling my own cigarettes he knows all the answers. And in bad weather I cannot take the buses with my wheelchair so I call ahead and order what I need and I have my friend pick everything up for me. Sam always has everything ready and once he even stayed open late to wait for my friend to pick my bag up. If you hadn't tried to smoke shop before please give it a try I guarantee you'll be very happy. Thank you for reading my review God bless”
