Should have taken pictures that the storefront was closed. The place looked like a bodega, used ceiling tiles placed on the floor. Reusable bags in front of their window. Traveled 30 minutes only to find the placed closed. Called the owner and apparently they were at in their Philadelphia store. They said they are only open a couple of times at oaklyn. Did not even update they are closed today in oaklyn on comic book day. Don't go to this place as it looks like they are transitioning their store to Philadelphia and they never update when they are going to be here. Especially when gas is already expensive.

I went here for Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) as a way to finally get a feel for the place. I had heard of Fat Jack's, but I always keep forgetting to check it out considering it's right down the street from Secret Origins. But I figured FCBD was the perfect opportunity since most shops use it as a way to connect with and introduce new patrons to their business.Upon opening the front door, I was immediately greeted by a very friendly cat. I thought, okay, this is my type of place, being a cat guy myself. But that's where the warm feelings end. Unfortunately, the feline was the only friendly personality here as the owner didn't want to acknowledge or make it feel like I was really wanted. (And after reading some of these other reviews, I can see that I'm not alone in that regard.) As for the selection of books itself, there is certainly a HUGE selection of new releases and back issue bins to go through. Unfortunately, all the back issues are priced at market value or higher. Not exactly a competitive price considering all of the other local comic book stores in the same area have much better pricing. Plus, dollar bins.

I wish this wasn't a 1-star review. They have an incredibly deep collection of back issues with excellent prices. But the place itself is in shambles. The back of the store has a hole in the ceiling and connecting wall, leaking during my visit. There are two cats roaming. Though adorable, their hair was everywhere. As I flicked through a long box, their hair was literally blowing into my face and mouth. I've been to establishments with pets, but, why allow them ON the product and register table? The comics without bags and boards are most susceptible to the kitties. It's clear they've been everywhere. The bag my comics were placed in had cat hair stuffed into the seams, as Whitey (the white cat) laid on top of them.The Comicrypt smell was awful and something behind the register was causing flies. I felt lightheaded just standing there.Oh, and don't use the bathroom here, under any circumstances.Loved the music, and the man in-store seemed alright. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this store to anyone, unless they bring gloves, a mask, and of course, aren't allergic to cats. It seems like a genuine safety and health hazard. The fact that they have a Philly location, and have knowingly operated Fat Jack's in such a horrible condition, leads me to never go to either again.Besides, there's a few other solid shops in the area and great ones just over the bridge.

Had a nice experience here. I came on new release day and they had all the new releases I was looking for. They had a lot of back issues and carried magazines I was not expecting (alter ego and back issue)
