I don’t typically share negative experiences publicly, as I understand the economic implications for businesses. However, the lack of basic customer service and the dismissive attitude I received from Rachel in the “customer service” department was both unacceptable and quite frankly intentional.
It’s completely reasonable not to have an answer on hand. What’s not acceptable is showing no interest in finding the answer especially when the person she had just spoken to over the walkie-talkie was still actively responding. Instead of asking a simple and straightforward question like, “Will it be back in stock soon?”, I was met with a dismissive, “You heard what I heard,” and left waiting for someone else to approach me directly.
The energy and tone of the interaction made it clear I wasn’t being taken seriously and the intentional dismissal felt racially charged. I’m choosing to take my business elsewhere and will now be shopping at the Brookdale ShopRite moving forward

Stopped in the new ShopRite of nutley today and I will say they did a great job on the store itself but it’s the same old ShopRite. Went in for one eggplant and they had six all rotten. How do you leave them on the shelf and I also noticed isles are a little tighter. Nothing new other than the store. I must say I was in your store and wanted to congratulate you for bringing in a quality product. The addition of Bell & Evan’s chicken products is the best. Thank you for that.

I’d like to share my experience with this new ShopRite ! I got out of my car today and saw a broken bottle of hot sauce in the ground and I went to say something to my mother she than informed me it’s been there since Tuesday ! Now anyone walking there dog could get hurt or even a small child. There’s broken glass and hot sauce in the ground. For the new owners to take so much pride in this business they should send someone out to clean the mess up. And yes I told the courtesy desk about what I saw and they said nothing to me

Waited at the deli department for a really long time and there were probably 5 employees there working and not one acknowledged me. BUT there comes a man right behind me and they took him right away. Now idk why this happened but I do know that it was rude and disrespectful. I hope u guys hire other people that really understands customer service. Disgusting.

I've been a patron of Nutley Shop Rite since the mid 1970s and feel quite comfortable with the small size especially compared to the newer / expanded SRs of Bloomfield, Little Falls, Lyndhurst and Wallington.

This store clearly makes an effort to stay clean and organized. The shelves are generally tidy, and the layout makes it easy to find what you need. Staff were polite and seemed to be doing their best to keep things running smoothly. I really wanted to like this place more, and for the most part, it does offer a decent shopping experience.
However, while I was buying milk, I noticed a lot of black mold around the milk section—especially on the refrigerator seals and surrounding areas. It was hard to miss, and honestly, pretty off-putting. For a section that stores perishable items like dairy, the presence of mold is a serious concern. It raises questions about how well the refrigerated areas are maintained and whether proper cleaning protocols are being followed.
I believe the store is trying to do a good job, and that’s why I’m giving it three stars instead of fewer. But this issue can’t be overlooked. Mold in any food section, particularly around milk, is a health hazard and should be addressed immediately. I hope management takes this seriously and improves the hygiene in that area. I’d consider returning once it’s resolved.

I love this SR, but it took me a few years to get familiar with where everything was. The ongoing renovations are driving me crazy, as items are being moved around, making shopping much more time-consuming. I hope the renovations will be completed soon and that the layout will return to a more intuitive arrangement. Dropping two stars because of the renovations and the added shopping time.
