Terrible attention, I went to have them only add my social number, and they put up a thousand obstacles, I showed my SSN and NJ Driver's License, and they asked me for more documents, I have had the account for more than a year until direct deposit with them and they did not want do the procedure, I will urgently put the direct deposit in the account of another bank, when I left I went to the Capital One agency and opened an account without problems, checking and savings without problems, M&T bank by phone is quite cumbersome and the help in person It was even worse, I want to think it was the North Brunswick branch, they don't know how to serve customers and it's not the bank's policy. Very disappointed I left there. I noticed the difference from heaven to earth in the attention received at Capital One,

I have had 1 bank since opening my business 10 years ago so I was hesitant to try a new bank BUT since my first meeting with Serge ,Surinder and Ritu I wish I made this decision ten years ago ! They answer my calls or emails even on the weekend. I wish I can give this branch more then 5 stars! My business is in a better place because M&T Bank! Thank you guys

I recently moved my business and personal checking accounts to M&T in North Brunswick and I couldn't be happier. The branch staff is very accommodating, pleasant and easy to do business with; they go above and beyond. The online banking is fully-featured and easy to use. I chose this bank because I've had many good experiences with M&T in the past, applying for an obtaining credit lines. I highly recommend this bank.

Recently opened a checking account with M&T N. Brunswick. I am a manager 3 stores down and thought it convenient to have a bank right next to me. Well, went to the bank to deposit my check via teller and ask some questions. The teller was busy so the woman that opened my account was available (Ritu). I went in to ask them how long it takes for a check to clear. She said 24hrs. She kept telling me to deposit via ATM. But I asked that important question because that is my rent check that is due next day. So 24hrs is an acceptable time frame for what I needed. Well, today is next day and no money cleared. I called customer service just to find out that there is a 5day hold. That was a shock and I'm now in a situation where my rent can't be paid on time. This is embarrassing, I'll have a $150 late fee, and shows negative on my credit. All because the banking woman never checked on my acct nor gave me proper information for me to make an informed and better decision for my need. I could have gone and cashed my check and brought the money back to the bank to ensure funds were available for my rent. But not having that info puts me in a tight bind and an unfortunate situation. Not to mention, the 1st call to the branch (9am), the lady was supposed to call me back and never did. At 3pm, I called the branch back and the 2nd lady basically said I put the check in the ATM and there's nothing that can be done. At that point, I was beyond oober pissed! So I told her, 'YOU GUYS screw up and I pay for it? Nope! When my check clears, I'm closing the acct!'. Well, a branch manager called back and still no resolution. I'm screwed! I'm absolutely closing this account and I would advise others to take caution. I did my part to ensure my money would be available for my needs and they gave false information by not checking on my account before advising. I now will have a $150 late fee on my rent! This is insane. I absolutely do not need to have an acct with a bank that is basically saying it's my fault for not having direct deposit and for using the ATM. Like ...I went in to ask. I asked and was given incorrect info. That is NOT my fault! Yes ...take heed because they speak kindly all while screwing you. That's not good customer service and I've been with them for 2 weeks. Horrible feeling and a very terrible situation to put me in.Part2... someone from M&T reached out on here and asked that I email. I did! They called me back immediately to tell me that someone else would call me the next day. Well, next day came, someone called me at 3:45pm to tell me that they just received my info and that they'll call me back. That was friday. Today is Monday night at 8:16pm and no word! Even their customer service escalation dept dropped the ball! At this point, I just need my check cleared and reimbursed my late fee ($150) from my rent being late! This really is the crummiest experience.

Racism is alive and well within the doors of M&T Bank of North Brunswick. I visited this local establishment on 8/31/2024. Had to wait 45 minutes only to be told they cannot cash my payroll check that is in partnership with M&T Bank. The complaint is to lengthy. However, if you are Black or of African American descent, stay away. Discrimination at it's best.Surinder Chauhan is the Sr. Branch Manager whom lacks leadership abilities.Unaware of who I was as as a clergy official whom works closely with Mayor Eric Adams, The NAACP and National Action Network. It is now my duty to bring this to light Immediately by way of media.+JFIII

Would strongly suggest avoiding this bank. I had a bank to bank transfer, which first did a trial verification. I believe this is fairly standard and have not had issues with other banks. With M&T, this was flagged by fraud department and I needed to come in person to show ID. Despite wasting an hour of my time to come in person, this matter is still dragging on.

Trying to transfer an account, and no one knows how to do it. Phone calls back and forth are frustrating and no one from the manager to head office has a clue what to do. Secondly, Why is it always empty in there? That tells you something. If I can give 1/2 a star I would.

From the north Brunswick branch is the worst employee. You walk into this place they do not want to help you. Worst bank ever in my life. Worst customer service ever. They clearly don't want customers. I will be telling everyone I know not to come to this bank esp the branch in north Brunswick.
