I first went without getting a thanksgiving turkey but Melanie called me back to give me a whole basket of thanksgiving package and a big turkey, and everyone there helped me to put the stuff in the trunk of my car!!! Amazing!!! Thank you all

I had the opportunity to volunteer for a morning at their summer camp career day. From the minute I step onto their campus to the very last segment of my presentation I felt welcomed the entire time. Everything was extremely organized and I couldn’t help but be grateful for what PSS is doing for our community and way beyond that.

I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to work at such an incredible agency like Project Self-Sufficiency. The agency's unwavering dedication to serving the community with compassion and empathy is truly inspiring. As well as, Project Self-Sufficiency’s commitment to fostering growth and development in their staff. The mentorship I've received has been invaluable, providing guidance and support every step of the way. I feel privileged to work alongside such a dedicated director and passionate team, who are truly committed to making a difference in the lives of others.

Hello everyone, I recommend this program, I love it, it is a great help for me and my children. The teachers are very dedicated to their work with the children.

Debra and other “supervisors” Haley & Kyersten , that were in charge of interviews were very rude and unprofessional. Seems like a tense work environment dealing with someone who is supposed to be above employees.

So this place is very odd. The negative reviews you see on here are very true. The managers micromanage and belittle you to the point where you start to believe that you’re an idiot. If you are a minority (specifically African American or Hispanic) STAY AWAY. You will get treated like you don’t belong. Also, if you’re a man. STAY AWAY. They will make you and the kids they have there for the high school program do their dirty work and you will learn no skills that will help you advance your own personal career. Speaking of the kids there, they say that they have them do “community service” but in reality they have them do stuff on their own campus that no one wants to do. For example, if there are donations, kids get pulled from class to bring them in…. if there are boxes, kids get pulled from classes to break them down and throw them out…. If they have an event, oh yeah you guessed it… kids get pulled to set up tables so the event can start. Those kids are there for a HS diploma but get pulled in every direction leaving the ones who are more academically challenged in the dark. This place has no good sides to it. You are forced to work overtime that goes uncompensated and you will NEVER and I mean NEVER get a “good job” or a “great idea”. The only good part about working here, is that you eventually get to go home. THE WORST place I’ve ever worked.

Project Self-Sufficiency is an agency unlike any other. This is an agency that works hard to meet their mission and serve our community with dignity and respect. PSS strives to meet the ever changing needs of our community. They respond to the needs as they change. PSS is a professional and supportive environment. Each day this is an agency that works towards assisting families and individuals in a relational way to move towards economic self sufficiency.

This is a wonderful organization. I've worked here for over 10 years and I'm very proud of the work we do, and to be a part of a community that pulls together the resources to do be able to do it. Staff, volunteers, leadership, donors, local businesses, neighbors - this organization knits together some of the hardest working, most dedicated people you could ever meet, under the single purpose of contributing what you can and doing your best to help those in need. I highly recommend this organization - as a place to work, to reach out to when you need help, and to support.

Project Self Sufficiency: A Self-Fulfilling Prophecy of InefficiencyWalking into Project Self Sufficiency is like stepping into a time capsule of paperwork and productivity purgatory. Binders overflowing with dusty data line the walls, monuments to a bygone era of information hoarding. While the name implies self-sufficiency, the reality is more like "self-sacrifice" for the altar of outdated systems and questionable management practices.Lunch breaks? Apparently, those are a figment of a pre-industrial imagination. "We don't do that here," they say with a grim smile, as if basic human needs are subversive acts. Contracts are mere suggestions, transformed into flexible, infinitely-stretching documents that morph to accommodate the whims of an ever-expanding workload.Speaking of flexibility, being "sick" is a privilege reserved for the outside world. Strep throat? Diarrhea? Just a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of Project Self Sufficiency's noble mission. COVID? A mere tickle in the nose compared to the existential dread of missing your quota.Deborah, the enigmatic leader of this efficiency-obsessed labyrinth, is a force to be reckoned with. Her grim visage and unwavering dedication to the paper gods inspire a mix of awe and terror in her underlings. Whether she's motivating through guilt-tinged pep talks or inspiring productivity through sheer intimidation, one thing is clear: Deborah is the engine that keeps this antiquated machine running, fueled by the sweat and tears of her devoted, if slightly traumatized, workforce.Project Self Sufficiency may preach self-sufficiency, but the reality is a hamster wheel of exhaustion, powered by outdated systems and questionable leadership. If you're looking for a modern, humane work environment, look elsewhere. This is a place where time stands still, and progress is measured in reams of paper and the silent suffering of its employees. Come for the self-discovery, stay for the existential dread.

First said they couldn't help my homeless family when on the verge of being shelterless due to circumstances beyond our control with a 1 year old and infant due in a couple months. Then the woman called me back saying she spoke with the supervisor and could probably help in some way. Took my information and told me she'd call back in 24hrs to let me know which way they could help, even if it were helping us get our car back so we could live in that. It's been over 3 weeks with no response despite my contacting them. Hope shouldn't be given to families in dire situations if they're going to leave them without shelter or answers.

Everyone there is so nice and very helpful, they pull me through a very hard time in my life, guiding me and giving me the confidence and means to keep my head up and to keep going and they continue to help me now however I need them. My family and I thank them and our community for all the help that was giving to us. We are forever thankful.

This place helps when they want . The advocates are not educated in dealing with people who’ve been through domestic violence . They have no education on how to deal w people who have mental illness . For 3 years I’ve had an advocate who’s made me feel like I should just do everything on my own . That falls back on the supervisor I’ve been telling them they need to be educated and trained , still nothing . Jane was a great supervisor , she listened and cared for what you had to say . They made her a clincial therapist and made Deb who is executive director the supervisor and she is horrid . Rude and ignorant . Doesn’t care about the situation and doesn’t even take time to listen to you . The lady at the front desk decided to tell me who I need to speak to when told I wanted to speak to a supervisor . It really seems like they just don’t care because of the situation you’re in and see us as low people . And doesn’t believe our voices need to be heard . Jane was amazing and I still to this day she always says hello to me . Other than that the people who work here are just plain simple and I think if they have an organization like this who deals w domestic violence survivors and people who need help . Then they shouldn’t be talked to like this . I also let deb know how I called atleast ten times and asked for a supervisor and was constantly forwarded to my advocate which is not what was asked . She didn’t comment which means it wasn’t important to her . This lady has no compassion towards the clients of KFT AND working w humans that should be the number one skill.
