All they care about is money they were trying to be nice but did nothing for my critical cat I would not recommend this place to anyone. I went to another vet they found the problem immediately without hounding for money I would not recommend this place

Very good experiences both times I've taken my dog Joey. They are very dilligent and explain things clearly. The team seems caring and the hospital is well taken care of and very clean.

Honestly, I was reluctant to bring my fur baby to this hospital. My vet did not recommend them & I heard from others what horrible experiences they had.I was very pleased with the reception staff. They were very attentive, friendly & caring. Then I met nurse Lori. She was very thorough, professional & listened to everything I had to say. Then I met Dr. Chabora. Dr. Chabora was very thorough and conducted tests that, in my estimation, should have been conducted by both my regular vet & the previous emergency visit to another animal hospital. My fur baby had a thorough exam. We are both very pleased with our experience.

I would give them a 0 if I could, this is a place you don't want to bring your pet, I brought my dog on a Saturday night because he wasn't breathing right, I was told he was in cardiac arrest and they placed him in oxygen, they told me they wold keep him overnight but I would have to leave a $2,400.00 deposit which I did, the next morning the vet called and said his breathing was better but they wanted to get it down more, so they were keeping him another night and I could pick him up in the morning, I waited for a call the next morning which I didn't get so I called them and had to wait for the vet to call me back, she said he wasn't doing as well as she had hoped, she suggested a cardiologist, which he would have to go somewhere else, I said I'm coming there, when I got there I couldn't believe the shape my dog was in he couldn't breathe, he was sitting in food that my daughter bought to him and he certainly couldn't lay down to sleep, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to put him to sleep so he would no longer suffer, I was never told how bad he was so I assume he suffered for two days before I got there. So it cost me almost $5,000 for them to not care for my dog.

Incompetence at this level is unacceptable. I saw Dr. Hannah Kim. My dog was lethargic and seemed to be having seizures. I can in as an emergency. Dr Kim did all kinds of blood work and tests and charge me almost $1000.00 the want to do more that would be another 1-2 thousand dollars. I declined I thought my dog was dying on me. So I left. I went to Budd Lake Animal Hospital the next day and saw Dr.Horn and with in 3 minutes Dr Horn saw that my dog had a large sore on his eye that made him wince in pain and not want to move. That was the seizure part and he didn’t want to move do to the pain he was in. At Newton we were brought in as an emergency trauma visit, and Dr Kim never even looked in my dogs, eye to see what kind of trauma. How in the world do you not look in the eyes of an emergency patient first. Unbelievable. Thanks to Dr Horn my dog was back to normal in three days. I owe him a debt because I really thought we were loosing my best friend.

The two stars are for the techs and front desk staff, who were amazing and so compassionate. I would give negative stars for Dr. Chun, who I assume is the cause of most of the negative reviews on here. I have been here before with a friend, whose dog got amazing care and compassion. Unfortunately, our 10 month old kitten did not get them same.Dr refused to even have a working diagnosis until we agreed to bloodwork. She wanted 1300$ worth of diagnostics. The issue we were concerned about- hard breathing- was never really addressed. She went in assuming FIV or pneumonia and seemed intent on interpreting the bloodwork to confirm this. She pushed for the rest of the diagnostics, knowing full well we couldn't afford them (esp at ER vet cost!) And slammed the door on her exit. We got an antibiotic (which, honestly, she could have given without the bloodwork and we could have done that at a non ER vet) and then informed staff that we will never be back due to Dr. Chun's tactics. It's disappointing and frustrating that this vet had no compassion, as the rest of the staff was AMAZING.We had been here in the fall, when out beloved Bodhi passed. The staff was amazing, though we never did receive his paw print, which was disappointing.$620 later and we have to go to a regular vet tomorrow to hopefully get clarification on the blood test results and follow up diagnostics that will not cost thousands.

When all others were closing up, this place kept their doors open. When a storm announced itself, this place remained ready. When I had to finally say goodbye to a dear friend of 18 years, not only did this place handle it with absolute professionalism and the best of care, they did it while juggling several other emergencies that came their way. There's a reason this hospital is recommended in the event of an emergency, and it's because they are on standby and offer powerful services. They not only quelled all fears of discomfort, they kept every option in the book open.If you are still reading this review and wondering if they can be trusted with your furry loved one, no matter how dire the situation, these people will handle it.

My regular Vet's office was closed for the holidays. My 16 year old dog wasn't eating & had diarrhea. I didn't want to wait 2 days or drive all the way to W. Caldwell for emergency services, so I tried Newton Veterinary Hospital despite some old reviews that weren't favorable. I was both pleased & surprised at how helpful everyone was there including the front desk staff, Vet Tech & Vet. Except for the 3 hour wait (due to another more serious situation), I would give them my highest recommendation!

I have a very anxious, older dog. Mel and Dr. Chan were so gentle and made my dog feel so comfortable, giving him time to get used to them and feel very safe. Thank you so much!!

Staff attended to us right away. Didn’t try to push for unnecessary tests. Efficient. Only downside is they were upgrading their computers so were unable to access medical history.

We are very disappointed with the doctor that saw Archer, she did not even take a look at my dog to star with and send someone with an astronomical estimate. I questioned it because how would she know that my dog needed all that without a diagnose , or exams that I had already authorize them to do. After a lot of back and forth with the estimate, she sent the lady with a waiver for me to sign. The first 2 lines on the paper said that my dog was “in serious condition “ … what??? This doctor is not omniscient to just look at (never touched him) a dog and say he is in serious condition and if I don’t do what she wants, she can force me to sign a paper and make me responsible for her negligence. I made clear that I also wanted her to sign me a paper for not giving me a proper diagnosed about my dog and forcing me to do whatever she wanted before even examining him. Crazy!!!In the other hand, nurses and staff members were very good! And because of them and my dog , we decided to stay and get to know what was going on with him. At the end we ended up paying fairly and not the crazy amount she had suggested before.

My dog has been here for emergency visits twice now and both times he received great care and came home healthy! If you are reading these reviews, please understand that there will be a wait for you to be seen as these doctors and techs have a lot on their plate taking care of multiple animals. Everyone I delt with at Newton was kind and compassionate.

The vet here used sensationalist tactics to emotionally manipulate me to opt in for treatments that were not necessary.
