I wouldn't recommend anyone to use this rental. Waste of money and time, what a rip off. And they never respond to the phone calls. Terrible customer service, stay away from them even if it will cost you little extra.

The worst company ever, they charge me for 1 weeks then on my pick up date they said California real Driver license is not valid and it’s not expired or have any valuation, that’s stupid

I reserved a Compact car through AAA travel and took advantage of Thrifty's on-line check-in process before I took my flight to NJ. There were 3 agents assisting customers and the line moved quickly. There was no pushback when I declined insurance (my credit card provides coverage) nor when I declined plate pass (I brought my own EZ pass). I was given a new VW Jetta (2,500 miles) that was in great condition. There were no unexpected charges when I returned the car. A really good experience, I would rent from them again.

Besides rude a rip-offWhen I agreed through Priceline to take any make/model of car a truck was not listed as a possibility. I was told could only get a car $200 extra. It was not what I needed for a funeral

Paid $218 online for an SUV rental, added a car seat that I was told would be $13 and the $30 extra insurance coverage for a 3 day rental (was told we needed it by law. Come to find out it’s not a law in NJ and they just lied). Also asked how to handle tolls so we don’t get a massive fee, was told oh as long as you’re staying in NJ it will just be the toll cost. Ok. Also a lie $77 ezpass charge, in addition to concession fees and a slew of other nonsense totaling to $253 in addition to the actual rental cost. So $471 for a 3 day rental, not what I signed up for. Not once were the fees disclosed, costs for other things were higher than disclosed and the attendant talked about fried chicken the entire time, evaded my questions, totally unprofessional and lied flat out when she explained the bill. Dealing with the credit card company will be another time wasting event. It’s one thing to charge fees, another to flat out lie about them. I have a toll pass, I asked how I could link it and was told don’t worry about it. This company is scammy the attendant shady, won’t be renting from them again.

The worst business, not car rental company, but business entity I have ever dealt with in terms of poor service, surprise charges at the time of rental turn-in, and general lack of supervision or organization at the location. I would give this location a negative star if possible and would rather walk next time as opposed to use this business for my car rental needs in the future. More than likely, the business will issue a "canned" response about trying to do better in the future but based on all of the similar responses to bad customer experiences, it's more likely that the sun will stop rising in the morning than this business get it's act together.

We used Thifty for a weekend trip and were pleased with their car selection and service. Evelyn was very friendly and knowledgeable.

It is Friday 2/23 9am- I have left a voicemail imploring a call back from whoever your highest manager or director is, TODAY. You have left my mother stranded at the airport because you wanted to charge her double (over $700) because she forgot the credit card she originally made her reservation on, and would not let her use another form of payment for the original reserved price. This is UNACCEPTABLE and unconscionable. Call me, today. Thank you.Edit in response to business accounts communication: I will await a call from upper management today, 2/23. Please arc this up and ensure I receive a call today.

Never ever rent a car in this location worst and nasty experience ever. I have booked a luxury car for pickup at the thrifty EWR airport location but by the time I went to the pick up location the lady at the counter was so rude and don’t even care about customers she said they no such luxury vehicles available and didn’t even try to assist me with other options either. She asked me to cancel the reservation. As I needed a car very bad I requested her other vehicle options then finally she came up with a midsize ford SUV which is very old and in awful and nasty condition has 68k miles on it and bad smell inside the car. They didn’t even refund the money back I paid for the luxury rentals. It’s a nightmare never experienced a rental car from airport locations that old and in such a bad condition. It’s totally a disaster I suggest guys pls don’t ever book a car from this location go for any other rental company and save your life, money and time.

WARNING: Underage fee is $45 per day for drivers under 25. This is by far the highest fee I have ever seen from any car rental company. If you are under 25, stick with Hertz/Alamo - The prices might be a bit higher but after fees Thrifty is by far the most expensive.

Poor experience all around. Agent was unaware of company policies - didn't not allow me to pick up my car because I had a temporary license at the time but thrifty policy online clearly states temporary licenses can be used. She gave us grief for being 30 minutes early for pick up (like we could control the flight arriving early) and proceeded to make us wait 20 minutes after our reservation time before the car was ready for a total of 50 minutes. She also made a big to do out of switching the reservation to my wife's name despite her being present with a valid license though ultimately they did and tried to tell me I wasn't allowed to drive. Lastly the agent was simply rude and unhelpful through the entire process.

I almost canceled my reservation after seeing the reviews, but they must have been on their best behavior after the slew of bad ones recently because I didn’t have any issues! I waited about 20 mins in line with 6 people in front of me and 2 workers with 1 additional worker coming back from break halfway through the line. I just made sure to say:1. I didn’t want an electric vehicle2. I don’t need the toll pass3. My Allstate insurance covers rental vehicles and I decline their coverageI didn’t receive any extra charges upon return, but maybe I got lucky? They didn’t care which car I picked and it felt sketchy not doing an inspection of the vehicle before I drove off, but all went well.
