This is a review of the new National car rental facility at the Newark airport, which opened sometime early December 2023. The lot is much bigger than the old lot, so there are a lot more car options in the Emerald Aisle and Executive Aisle than in the old facility. Returning cars seems like a much more efficient process, and the staff seemed to genuinely care about our rental experience when returning the car. I’ll be renting from National a lot more often now since this new facility makes the whole process a lot more simple and easy.

Myself, my wife and my son Otto had an amazing experience with Nadine at the front counter she is a DOLL! Nadine’s 5 star level of customer service is what most companies dream of having employees like her. Her attitude was 10 stars, she was friendly, helpful and went above and beyond for us. We had some issues in our reservation but Nadine was quick to help find a resolution. The manager on site was also very helpful to help fix the situation which was not their fault but mine! None the less Nadine stuck it out with us and really made us feel welcome. Seriously I can’t Nadine enough as a business owner myself I wish my employees showed my customers this HIGH LEVEL of customer service. We travel to Newark multiple times a year to visit family and for now will ALWAYS use National Rentals due to our amazing experience with Nadine. If her managers are reading this give her a RAISE! She’s your model employee. Thank you again Nadine you made our trip special

Made a reservation for a Compact SUV for $49/day which was $5 more than what they were charging for a Midsize sedan. When I got there, they had no compact SUVs on the Emerald aisle so the attendant told me to take any vehicle on the aisle. These crooks charged me $71/day and refused to honor the original reservation. On top of that, they gave me a car with almost 1/4 tank of gas below full but I still topped it off for them at return. Worst customer service at a National that I’ve ever experienced

Eric Berk provided phenomenal service when I needed to change my drop off location. I emailed as instructed at the rental counter at Newark Airport, he made change right away, drop off at JFK was seamless. Thank you so much for your help!

I have not been to Newark Airport in years----probably before the pandemic. Much has changed. I landed in Terminal C with United and took the Airtrain to P3 which is where the rental car companies are located. In the past, you would pass Terminal B and Terminal A before you got to P3, P2 and P1. Not anymore. You go straight from Terminal C to B to P3. I didn't see the Emerald Club sign for members to skip the line initially and ended up in line for a minute until I finally saw it hidden behind another sign. The people at the desk were very friendly and pointed out the regular and executive collection. Exiting was quick and easy. Since I know the area, it wasn't too bad getting out of the airport. If you're not from the area, take your time and be very careful. The taxis are brutal. Return was also easy. My return flight was from Terminal A. You can't take the P3 Airtrain to Terminal A yet. You need to get on a bus which takes you over to Terminal A. First bus stop picks up others from the Airtrain. Then everyone goes straight to Terminal A which is quite new and very nice.

DO NOT RENT FROM NATIONAL or ENTERPRISE!First they rented a car out to someone in my name who wasn’t me, that was a hassle.Now they are trying to charge me for a parking ticket (+fees) that I already paid for and have already sent them evidence I paid for.I highly recommend Avis or Hertz instead.

Just wanted to give a 5 star rating to Janiyah at newark airport location. She was so sweet and efficient and went a above and beyond. She made the whole experience WONDERFUL.

Lack of communication about policies, changes to them and zero customer loyalty appreciation. The general manager, in particular, has zero customer negotiation skills. This Executive Elite member is pleased to be taking my frequent and repeat car rental business (over 200 rental days and $14k with National alone, no to mention the rentals with their sister company, Enterprise) elsewhere.

I had to come through here more than a few times for work before I was Emerald. One flight I was on got delayed and when I arrived, all the car rentals were closed. However, Carl at National spotted me and even though he was still closing up, he not only helped me, but drove me over to the rental bay. Then he guided me over to an exit that was still open.This was months ago, but Carl was such a G, giving this rating has been on my to-do list since. He was also super personable and an absolute treat just to talk to. Carl easily hit top-tier management skills.

Great customer service and professionalism by the staff from the initial interaction checking in to dropping off at the end.Car was super clean, ran great and was reasonably priced.Staff made us feel welcomed and appreciated enough to the point that we will use National again on our upcoming trip to LA in September.

I have been renting with National Car for the past 41 years. Very easy to rent using Emerald Isle. There employees are efficient and polite. I live in a city where I don't need a car but if I need one National is convenient.

Best rental spot I’ve ever dealt with. I’ve used several different car companies and this was the first time trying national since Priceline matched me with them. This was the best experience. The manager was SOOOOOO accommodating. The service was quick. And the pickup truck that he gave us was top of the line. I’ll be recommending this specific location to all of my family+friends and EVEN STRANGERS.

We had Joe R help us get our car and he was such a gentleman. As soon as we got to the parking area we were greeted with Joe’s friendly smile and helping hand. He was thorough and helped us fit our many bags into the rental car. Thank you Joe.
