Cheerful employee behind the counter. Pickup pickup went very smoothly. Had paid for a Standard, but could opt for a Silverado. Everything was arranged within half an hour. Had a great holiday!

We picked up our car on June 25, and however the employee at the desk was not very interested in doing his job, we sat in our car quite quickly. When we went to the exit, there were some problems. We received a car with a number plate from a different state, and the employee at the exit had to call her manager When this lady came, she also saw still some yellow writing on our window, and she told us she was sorry and thought it was unacceptable we received this car in this state. The manager apologised a few times and told us we would receive a free tank and could return the car without a full tank. It took a while, but finally, we could leave, and the lady at the exit also confirmed we would receive a free tank.
When returning the car, we were told we would receive a note by email when something would be charged. We never received an email, but a charge of $67,84 was made from our credit card. I don't know what was charged (it was no toll because this was charged later). Our travel agency made a request over 3 weeks ago to ask for the note, but they still have not received an answer. I am very disappointed afterwards about Alamo.
UPDATE: We received an e-mail it was indeed fuell what was charged. So watch out for this company. They make nice promises but you will pay the bill.

Alamo rented us a defective chrysler mini van. we were stranded on the side of the road for hours and they did nothing to help us. they said they couldn’t help us until we got the car “moved to a safe area.” but they were the reason we were put into a unsafe area. the situation could have been way worse if we didn’t call 911. will never use this company again. they do not care about their customers.

We got a car with a child's car seat when we arrived and they brought us our car the car seat was not installed they handed it to us and left. We couldn't figure out how to install it so we ended up asking for a refund and I had to go to target to buy one that I know how to install. Staff had no knowledge of helping with putting it in I was very disappointed

The worst car rental service. They ask for 10,000 documents and have no flexibility for a foreigner who wants to rent a car quickly and easily, not to mention the damage insurance that they retain on the card, it makes it impossible to use any card since you need to have a high limit.

I will never rent from Alamo again Newark airport
They charged me over 125 dollars in fees for a weekend rental almost a third of what the rental cost

Picking up the previously rented vehicle went well overall. The employee at the counter seemed a little listless and only spoke quietly and indistinctly, and our repeated questions didn't change that.
In the end it didn't matter, we received a vehicle in the category we booked, and when it turned out that the Chevy Equinox was a bit too small for us, we were able to immediately swap it for a larger minivan. The employees were very helpful.

We had a HORRIBLE experience at Alamo Rental in Newark around 6PM on July 3rd due to the manager and an employee. Despite Newark not being busy—not a single other customer but myself—the attitude from the beginning was pure unpleasantness. It was so incredibly unpleasant that we swore we would never do business with Alamo again, and I rent cars often for work. However, our opinion changed when we met Frank Kinderman, the manager of MSP Alamo.
Frank was an absolute delight and a true brand ambassador. He went above and beyond to fix a problem that wasn't his to fix. Frank was solutions-oriented and customer-centric, which is rare in 2024! Thanks to Frank and his entire team, we are now believers in Alamo again.
Newark, please take notes from Frank and his team—they were fantastic!

Beware all American expats! This location does not recognize the fact that you may be stationed overseas and that your valid driving license is the one where you live, not where you are born. Dont try to explain, and just go next door.

Very disappointed with this Alamo rental.
I rent from Alamo multiple times in business trips. This time, as usual I fuel up the tank and return the car. Then I noticed Alamo charged extra $13.93 on my card as refueling. I called customer service, they refund me, then today they charged $13.93 again.
I will never rent from this company.
Update: Jun.27 I sent email to the address provided in Alamo's reply, no response for 2 weeks. No refund no solution. Cannot trust entire Enterprise rental.
