I lived in the Monroe for 2 years and I don't think the quality of the apartments matches the current reviews. To start with the positives, most people in the community are very friendly, and the units are in a great location relative to the green.Turning to the negatives:- Many residents don’t adhere to the no-smoking policy. I lived on the 9th floor of building 1, and there are several smokers on that floor. The smell would drift into all units and was completely unavoidable. We used to be able to open the hallway window, which slightly alleviated the smell, but that window was bolted shut to prevent opening. I know similar measures were taken on other floors. If you struggle with any breathing-related health issues, I would avoid the Monroe solely for this issue.- The units are old and require extensive maintenance. The washer/dryer combos frequently break, and it took me several weeks to get a new set when mine broke. My HVAC unit also broke, and that also took over a week to replace. My ceiling had a leak (see before and after pictures) during heavy rainstorms, and that also took several weeks to fix. Luckily none of my personal property was damaged by the leak, but the lackadaisical maintenance response is frightening. Even when maintenance finally got around to “fixing” my ceiling, they left it looking horrible. It is easy to see the extensive water damage to my ceiling that maintenance refused to address.- The elevators are awful and frequently break.- Parking is expensive, but the gate of the parking garage is typically open from midnight until ~8am, so you may be able to avoid paying to park or paying for a pass if you leave late at night or early in the morning.- Although there is an Amazon locker, picking up packages is often a disaster. When you receive non-Amazon packages, the leasing agents frequently put your package in the locker, without sending any code to you to access your package. This happened to me multiple times with packages I needed urgently, but I wasn’t able to get them for several days due to being at work when the leasing office is open. Speaking of which, the leasing office often has infrequent hours. This may be due to the multiple management changes while I lived at the Monroe, but it’s still unfortunate for residents. The Monroe also started to use the package room for overflow packages, but they require you to pick up packages within a few days before management disposes of the packages, which is an absurdly short amount of time, especially for those who frequently travel.- The rent increases every year were typically about 10%, which seemed higher than the neighboring communities.- The bathrooms don’t have operable ceiling fans, so they get extremely moldy very quickly.- Although I didn’t personally experience this issue, several residents complained about mice and bugs in their units.- Soundproofing is non-existent.- There is an annual amenity fee even though the amenities are often unusable.- Upon finally moving out, it was extremely difficult to recoup my security deposit. The leasing office made every excuse to not give it to me, and it ultimately took several months to receive it, but I did get it in full. I’m surprised there hasn’t been more legal action in this regard.

Great experience. The move in process was very simple and straight forward. The leasing associate (Cherelle) was very helpful and made herself available for any follow up questions regarding all things move-in related.

Loved living here. The management is really prompt and takes care of everything from service requests to any other problems you may face living here. Location is great. Many nice restaurants and parks nearby. Everything is walking distance.

I was so excited to tour this property since it's located waking distance to my job.But unfortunately I had the worst experience ever.I've been living is this type of buildings for the last 12 years and I've never encountered such an unprofessional woman.Cherelle was extremely unpleasant and rude to a prospect resident. I asked her if they have EV charging stations and with a horrific attitude she answered " I don't know you have to ask the parking people" among other unprofessional things she did during the tour. The main reason I decided to move to the building around the corner, even though it was more expensive, it was because of her horrible unprofessional attitude.

Called repeatedly for the whole day on a Monday morning and no one picked up. No one called back either. Does anyone work in the leasing office?!

My husband and I have lived at the Monroe for six years. We love our apartment. But in addition to that we love the staff. Matt and Joe, our Maintenance Crew are always simply the Best. When we need maintenance they attend to our needs immediately, efficiently and completely. Beyond that they are friendly and caring. Joe, then newer addition to the Monroe Management is terrific. On several occasions he has helped us with digitalizing our rent payments and taking care of our needs. He is friendly, knowledgeable and caring. Simply put, it is a great team!

The Monroe is a beautiful apartment building tucked in a wonderful location that's within short walking distance to central downtown Morristown. The apartment is very spacious, modern, and a great value. The leasing office and maintenance staff have all been excellent. 10/10

I would give the community a five star rating if not for the fact that at times, the complex resembles a fraternity house with all the negatives . Loud , unruly residents who don’t know the meaning of decorum and cleanliness. The staff seems overwhelmed in trying to keep up with maintenance. The lighting in both the hallways and apartment are lacking in effectiveness. The windows and bathrooms need updating. In spite of this, the staff,Matt and Joe should be commended.

This place is a complete nightmare. Absolutely do not rent here. The apartments and public spaces are aesthetically pleasing but that’s really where the positives end. Many of residents are loud and inconsiderate. Management has to often send emails saying things like “please don’t throw vacuums down the garbage chute”. But by far the worst thing is the noise. Whether you like the wall hangings rattling from the noise and thuds of the walking in the apartment above you, like to hear the tv of the people across the hall, or enjoy music pounding from neighbors on both sides, this place has just the noise for you.

Excellent property. Facilities and other residents have been great so far, and haven’t had any issues with them. The faculty did a great job of making the, already stressful, moving process a lot easier. I would recommend considering this property.

Move in went very smooth. Peter from the leasing office was very attentive and helpful throughout my time here so far at the Monroe. Courtyard and rooftop area are the best amenities.
