My family ran a lumber yard and I worked there during the summer one year so I always love to visit a place like this. Motown Lumber has been in business since 1928, and it's a wonderful old-time shop. That said, it's well-stocked to provide you with the necessary materials and tools. The staff here cares about helping their customers, super helpful and friendly and the prices are very reasonable.

I am all in favor of supporting small business, shop local.Have supported them when big stores open near Morristown, accepted to pay more for the same items just to support.Lately they have been extremely disappointed.Very unprofessional and unfriendly,No one salutes anyone, good forbid you have a question.Changing prices after orders have been placed and paid,Threatening to cancel an order after you have wait for weeks.Anyway, I wish them luck but they have lost my business.

I’d never again buy anything here. I ordered Andersen windows back on March 21, 2022. I certainly understand Andersen being behind schedule because of Covid. Was told they would arrive in July. Then I went there in person in August and was told October. Went again 10/3/22. Was told they would arrive 10/18/22. Called to confirm they were there. Went this morning 10/19/22 to pick them up and the guy in the back building who helped load them in my truck told me they’ve been sitting there since June. All this while I was told we’ll call you when they arrive. I could have had them 4 months ago. Never ever received a call.

Was looking for a local knife sharpening service for my Wusthof Grand Prix knives. I totally forgot that Morristown Lumber offers knife sharpening services. Knives are taken to be sharpened on Tuesdays, so just drop off Monday and they'll call you back when it's ready in a week. Seamless process and at a great price. They made sure that it was sharpened at the correct angle as per Wusthof. Besides all the other great hardware services they offer, you can trust your high end knives to them.

Great lumber yard with very knowledgeable and helpful workers. Ordered special moulding and it came as promised. The best of service with an extensive inventory for all your building needs.

Checked this place out after being constantly disappointed with big box stores wood quality and selection. I'm starting my journey into woodworking and I think this place may be my new goto. After taking a long lap inside I was impressed by the tools and parts available. Inside the hardwood selection was okay but limited to smaller boards and species. The quality of wood was great though. Outside, the plywood and boards species and sizes were what I was looking for. Tim in the yard actually walked new around showing me what they had. He was extremely friendly, helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to be working there. There needs to be more Tim's in the world.

PROS: - MORE THAN JUST LUMBER!!!! - no fuss/no hassle service/supply providers - sales persons are very knowledgeable - provides large body of different services and supplies other than lumber! - can actual view certain products before you purchase - can arrange for supply/equipment rental/delivery CONS: - can sometimes be a wait for certain services/supplies - hours of operation are not the most convenient if you work out of town or are not local Came here to purchase a snow blower and had a good experience. The space is a bit intimidating and with so much going on it seems daunting, but once inside the main sales and service space, the employees are very responsive and helpful. After talking to a cashier we were told to see customers service who would show us their snowblower stock and help with questions and purchases. They didn't have many snow blowers in stock as the season didn't start yet, but they did have one of the ones we were interested in. We worked with Bob and another sales lady (red-head, can't remember name). We came in on a Thursday and purchased the snowblower on the spot and they delivered it first thing that Saturday morning fully assembled giving us a short guideline on how to start it up. We had a really great and easy experience with Morristown Lumber and plan on using them for future services and supplies!
