This place is a godsend, a mirage in the desert on a Saturday night. Open a little later than most and staffed by the friendliest chill people on the planet, what more can anyone say? It’s a liquor store with a great selection, no hassle, and I love the place with all my heart. Extra points for being dog friendly.

Stopped by Merit for a bottle of wine to pair with my dinner of Thai food classics. I was thinking a Reisling or maybe a Sancerre and the person working there suggested an overpriced Cote de Rhone. Not only was she off base with her ill-informed recommendation but added a condescending attitude that encouraged me to shop elsewhere for my wine selection. Chances of returning to Merit - ZERO.

Always helpful staff and great selection of wines. Smaller selection of liquors so be flexible there.

I love coming to Merit. Tom is always awesome. They have a great wine selection. Although the prices are slightly higher than other places, it serves our needs because of convenience. Customer service is always good--never had a complaint. This will always be my go-to when hosting.

My regular wine and beer stop for a quick six or four pack or couple of bottles. Walkable to all of downtown Montclair. Very friendly employees, great wine selection, and solid craft beer choice for their small size. With all the BYOBs in the area it is very convenient. They also deliver for free!Only complaint is the prices are high, but, hey, it's downtown Montclair what can one expect. I will keep shopping here and recommend it to others strongly, too.
