I asked for advice on a product and she answered but was bad attitude. She didn't smile, she wasn't nice so I don't want to go to there anymore.
Terrible customer service and general bad attitude.

I do not usually leave a bad review unless I leave a place feeling completely awful- and that is exactly happened this morning. It’s a lovely place to drop in and buy a gift for someone, but trust me when I say I will never do that again. This is not the first time I’ve had horrible customer service here and I see that I’m not the only one. What a shame. No smile, rushed and huge attitude. Why? It’s a beautiful sunny day. If you don’t like your job, I’m sure there are plenty of other people who could treat customers like human beings. Hoping the owner will care how her customers are being treated.

The star is worthless First time visiting this store today and was greeted w little to no acknowledgement. We looked around and the woman behind the counter was chatting to everyone very friendly and happily. Then I got in like to pick up item that I paid for via phone and her reaction to me was appalling. My friend was w me and he immediately noticed her tone w me from the other white folks she was previously speaking w. I compliment her store, it took her like few mins to respond "thanks"! When it was his turn, the smile and tone were higher friendly engaging. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing. After we left he turned to me and said "she was being racist towards you" yes she was. My first ever direct encounter w racism.

The employees in this store give human beings a bad name. Their pretentious, demeaning attitude towards everyone who walks through the doors is mind boggling. I was so happy to leave there not having spent the thousand dollars on some ridiculous chachkis I had planned on buying for my wife. Weather they own the store or not.....No one asked them to be there. A little humility goes a long way. What a blight to Montclair they are. Please close sooner then later. You're a negative representation of Montclair.

Came into this super unique store today since I have yet to visit. If you're searching for a one of a kind gift - this is totally your store! From candles, jewelry to home decor - you can find the most perfect gift for someone (or for yourself if you're having one of those days). The woman at the counter, Joan, was super nice and welcoming. I even got to meet the owner Carol who was beyond sweet.

Honestly, I've only heard bad things about Jafajems over the years, but I didn't experience any. Perhaps, I knew what I wanted, went in and grabbed them. I saw these scarves from Ghana, so I grabbed one for my mom. She loved it. No complaints from me and I'll stop back in periodically

Very rude salesperson. I went in to purchase an item. I was inspecting the item and she told me to put it back because it's not necessary for me to do that. If I am interested in purchasing something, I definitely want to inspect it. I did purchase the item as it was the perfect Christmas gift for someone but I will never go back nor will I recommend this store.

I went looking for catstudio kitchen towels as a gift. This was helpful because online shipping costs a lot and it takes a long time to arrive. The store had a great selection of products, many of them high quality, and it was a wonderful store. For this reason, if you go there with your children, they will give you very unpleasant looks, and people will follow you and warn you. I urged the children not to touch it as much as possible, but if they touched it at all, they would come to clean it up in a sarcastic manner. I can understand why the reviews are low, perhaps because something was broken or something bad happened to it in the past. Perhaps they realized that it was a gift, so they wrapped it in some cute tissue paper. I appreciate your high level of professionalism, but I think no one will approach you if your attitude is too bad.

I’ve been living in Montclair for 1-3 years now and I found out about this place not too long ago. It’s this really nice gift shop and I’m surprised this place doesn’t get enough good ratings. It was definitely worth my time and anyone who sees this review should go and check it out.

I shop at the store once or twice a year and always enjoy the merchandise and often find gifts.Unfortunately the staff or the owners I'm not sure who works in the store are consistently rude and condescending.They barely even say thank you when you make a purchase. I will make an effort not to go back.

I purchased several New Jersey Shore beach towels at Jafa Jem's recently. The store is filled with beautiful merchandise, it is immaculately clean, and I was treated very graciously by the staff. I had a great experience and would absolutely return for future purchases.

Rude old women run this store. They act like your either going to break everything or steal it. The women who work in the store need a class on costumer service.
