I have been to PT many times in my life but I have found Dr. Chan's unique, highly knowledgeable, integrative approach to be the most helpful. Other therapists seems to focus only on the injury; they often set you up with some exercise program and disappear. Because Dr. Chan is truly "hands on," he spends time with his patients to be sure they are working in a way that not only reduces pain at the site of the complaint but restores the body to a functioning whole. Dr. Chan and his staff, massage therapist Lisa and office manager Enoch, are amazingly accommodating, capable and sincerely compassionate. I recommend them without reservation.

Going to Hands On NJ Physical Therapy was a wonderful experience. Dr. Chan not only shows you how to do the exercises , he explains how they work and why you need to do them to maintain your mobility. The staff is friendly and professional.

This doctor is very good, very honest, he knows what he is doing. At the beginning it is very hard to walk, but now I can walk like normal. I can go back to work without cramps or pain. I sleep well again thanks to Dr. Chan!

I went there with a frozen shoulder problem. Was not even sure what that was. Thanks to Dr Chan he explained the whole thing and we started the healing process. Today after 7-8 months I have regained a lot of the movement I lost. I could barely move my arm backwards but today that is a different story. Cannot thank Dr. Chan enough to have taken me through this journey. When talking of the journey cannot forget some of the other co-travellers and a very special call lit to Lisa without whose help it would have been difficult. Once again words fail to convey the thanks I have to say.

This is truly a “Hands On” Physical Therapy Facility. I am writing this review because they do not advertise and they deserve recognition. Dr. Chan is the only physical therapist that you deal with and he is so caring and thorough! I really liked that you only see Dr. Chan and he helped me get back to my former self after recent back surgery. I have seen so much improvement and I am now walking as fast as pre-surgery. And I must mention Lisa, who is a significant member of Dr. Chan’s physical therapy team. Her massages, as part of my physical therapy treatment, were outstanding!

I have been a patient of Dr. Chan for several years now for back problems and other physical ailments. Dr. Chan is a wonderful doctor, caring deeply for his patients and extremely knowledgeable about different methods of therapy. Under his care I have improved tremendously. I also receive massages from his massage therapist who is wonderful. Presently I am under Dr. Chan's care several times a week for a problem no other therapist has been able to address. My pain is now subsiding and I am able to enjoy life more .Bernhard Rosenberg

I’ve never thought that physical therapy would help with my hip and thigh pain before my PCP recommended Dr. Philip Chan. After a few sessions my hip pain disappeared miraculously. Dr. Chan and his staff did not only help in relieving my discomfort, but explained what the cause would have been and taught me some do-it-at-home exercises which are quite beneficial as a whole.

I came to Dr. Chan's office because of a very arthritic ankle that has been bothering me for many years..I've tried acupuncture, platelet injections, and PT with little success. Ten years ago the orthopedic I went to recommended Triple Arthrodesis, a very complicated and frequently unsuccessful surgical procedure that I immediately turned down. Dr. Chan has given me many approaches including foam rolling, laser, massage, and exercise, just to name a few. He is kind, extremely knowledgeable, and creative. The orthotics that he prescribed were like no other I have ever tried and helped a great deal. Besides his overall knowledge I must repeat the word, KIND. It is so important to work with someone who sincerely CARES about his patients. Whatever problem you present, he will be your partner in your journey toward improvement.

I highly recommend Dr. Chan as a physical therapist. He’s very caring and he doesn't use a one size fits all approach, but tailors the therapy to meet individual needs. His office manager Melissa creates a friendly and welcoming atmosphere as soon as you enter the office. Lisa, the message therapist is also friendly and excellent at her job.

I participated in the Virtual Tai Chi and Wellness Pilates classes in 2021, and I gained many health benefits out of them. Both classes were extremely educational and interactive - The Tai Chi program was fun and productive. Dr. Chan always made sure everyone understood each form before moving on. The Wellness Pilates class helped to improve my posture in such a short time, and my body strength improved significantly where I advanced from band resistance level 1 to 4 for the band exercises. I also learned the Total Motion Release technique which is amazing to self treat any pain points. I highly recommend these classes, as I am going to continue both in 2022.

Very friendly staff! My problem is a bit unique and my doctor recommended physical therapy and I'm glad she did!! I'm doing better and I see a light at the end of the tunnel!! I would highly recommend!

I came here to address pain in my hip and down my leg. I very much appreciated that this just wasn’t a PT office where I did exercises in a large room a la a gym. This office not only provides the exercises but also incorporates Eastern Medicine practices and massage. Both Dr Chan and Lisa do an excellent job explaining what and why they are doing. I started to see things improving early on in the services.The staff is very friendly and really listens to address the issues that I’m having that day.

Within minutes of my encounter with Dr Chan, I knew that my PT odyssey had thankfully ended! He is an anomaly of physical therapists, with a genuine interest in guiding his patients to optimum healing. Using innovative, medicine-free methods, results are often amazingly instant. I’ll remain forever grateful for this knowledgeable, personable, caring healer, who actually spends time working on whatever issue presents itself. His claim of “Hands On” is refreshingly real, folks — enhanced by his extraordinary masseuse, Lisa, and Oh, so very efficient receptionist, Melissa - the exceptional voice and face of Hands On NJ PT.

I've been to a few physical therapists in New York and New Jersey, and Hands On NJ Physical Therapy has been the best by far. Dr. Chan works on an individually-tailored program for each patient. In my case (neck/shoulder problems) he carefully ascertains what works and what doesn't work each week--and then he modifies the program, weekly, to maximize results. The program has been effective--and a chronic problem has been measurably improved. Two thumbs up!
