This store is a rare gem! I was visiting my daughter over Thanksgiving and the microwave died and of course my tools a miles away in VA. These folks had the torque bit I needed to remove the case and the time delay fuse needed for the repair. I didn't need to buy a kit of bits I didn't need or a package of 5 fuses I'd never use. Businesses with helpful, knowledgeable people close every day. This is one that certainly needs preservation. Very helpful and knew exactly what I was looking for.

Herb and his team at Mendham Plywood have always gone the "extra mile" in solving my problems by recommending the right materials, methods and tools for my DIY projects. Their patience, knowledge and listening skills are hard to find in today's world. They deserve my highest recommendation. Worth the drive from anywhere!

Called to ask if they had Baltic Birch and made it clear on the phone I needed B/BB (one faced without patches). After I was told that they had it, and was given a price, I detoured away from another lumber yard that was a little out of my way. I have purchased from the yard I detoured from before, so I know they have what I'm looking for, at roughly the same price.When I arrived at Mendham, I was told by the gentleman at the front that they only have BB/BB in stock, and while they could get B/BB, it would be $80+ more per sheet than I was originally quoted.By this time, the "other" lumberyard had closed for the weekend so I'm not able to get the plywood I really need to breakdown this weekend until next week.I purchase hundreds of sheets of Baltic Birch per year, and was really hoping to give my business to a more local business, but I won't be back.

I called Mendham Plywood and spoke to a super knowledgeable younger guy who was extremely helpful. I am not a contractor, just an average Joe who's does small woodworking crafts and I was looking for a specific type of plywood for a DIY project. The point is that I know a little bit about the materials I needed, I'm not a total novice, nor am I an expert. He knew exactly what I needed and was happy to help and told me to swing by their location and have a look at their selection. When I went to the location the next day I dealt with two extremely salty old timers who made no effort to hide the fact that I was just a huge inconvenience for not knowing exactly what I needed. From the beginning of the interaction to the closing of the transaction I was treated like an idiot. I honestly received better treatment from drill sergeants at Fort Benning than the guy who "helped" me. The only reason they're getting two stars is because of my initial phone call with the younger gentleman and the fact that they stock wood you can't find at Home Depot. It's a miracle they're still in business.

A wonderful store, and worthy of 5 FIVE) stars! (I wonder why other reviewers are stingy and give only 4?) Herb will advise you on repairs, large or small, and give you names of reliable contractors. He will advise on small dilemmas around the house as well (outlets, lamp repair?). Of course, he will sell and cut lumber, a good selection not available at a big box store, AND advise you what is best for your needs. And now, screen repair! I heartily recommend.

Needed 2 LVLs to replace a few joists on a 100+ year old house. Super helpful and fast. Delivery was also fast and free.
