This man that runs/owns this H&R Block is by far the most unprofessional accountant I've ever known. There is no 100% money- back guarantee if they mess up, which they will. H&R Block corporate can do nothing to help you because Mark is the owner of this franchise and has to approve all refunds, which he will not do of course. You will lose a chargeback against them because he is the owner and the credit card companies/banks require you to get your taxes done by another accountant in order to prove what he did was wrong to get your money back, which defeats the purpose because then you have to spend another $600 - $800 on a different accountant to inspect Mark's terrible accounting practices. I submitted over 20 pages of documents to the bank/Mastercard, showing he did the wrong state on multiple years of taxes, had the wrong income amounts, had the wrong refund amounts, was putting in for duplicate economic impact payments (which can get you audited), did the wrong year for one of the years, and more. It took them over 3 months, and they didn't look at any of the evidence that I provided or the several years of TurboTax tax returns that I had to prepare myself because the tax returns that Mark prepared were all wrong. To say that Mark just throws things together haphazardly is an understatement. He is also incredibly rude and manipulative. He knew we were far away from his location, so when it came time for us to try to get him to correct the tax returns he did, he was incredibly rude and didn't want to answer the phone or do the scheduled phone call we had made with his secretary. When we let H&R Block corporate know that the statements he prepared had so many major errors that they were unusable, he responded to them by saying he'd only talk if we came to his office, which is 20 miles and half an hour away from my house, which he knew we didn't have time to do as we both work and run multiple businesses. It was precisely the reason why we mailed him our information in the first place and told him what we needed over the phone.
The guy is a borderline con artist. I would not trust him with any taxes or accounting and would not recommend. He'll lull you into believing he's got everything taken care of when all he's going to do is haphazardly enter some of the information you give him into his H&R Block application in maybe a half an hour and charge you $780 for his garbage ill-prepared returns. Then your money is gone. Good luck getting it back. Then you have to drive to Mark and hopefully hand-hold him or one of his workers to correct all their mistakes and hope that they provide returns to you that are actually correct. Good luck doing that. Waste of time, money, energy, and undue stress. Do not use this H&R Block or Mark Sternberg's accounting CPA services. Avoid at all costs.

First, I want to preface this by saying that I recently visited a different H&R Block location, and the service I received there was wonderful. However, when I initially called the main H&R Block number for this particular location, it went to voicemail. Two days later, when I called back and politely mentioned that I had a few questions, the response I received was, "Uhhh, I mean if they are quick then yeah," in a disgusted tone. This is unacceptable. I promptly hung up, saying nevermind and wished them a nice day. How is it that you call a place and they don’t allow you to ask questions or tell you to make it quick? I had an amazing experience at the other facility, which makes it shocking that I stayed with this company after that rudeness. Nonetheless, people shouldn't feel antagonized for seeking help, especially when they practically left a voicemail telling me to call back.

Mark Sternberg is the person I recommend for doing your taxes. I have always used H&R Block, no issues and price is fair. He also explains everything and really gives you a plan for the following year. 746 Rt 34 Matawan 07747
