I’d give less than one star if I could. Please ? please don’t ever take your birds to this place. All I needed was my birds nails done. The place was kind of a mess but the groomer sounded confident. It all went South from there. They had two people to groom and the lady who was supposed to hold my jenday let him escape. Unknown to me they had sticky fly traps hung on the ceiling. Why in Gods creation would you hang fly sticky traps in a bird store. I never thought to look and check the ceiling of the store. My bird grabbed a sticky paper and lucky he got loose. Then he settles on a box and I told the employees I will get him my birds will return to me but he was scared. Now instead of them allowing him space to come to me three stupid idiots go in chase of my bird. One had a net. I was up on a ladder trying to get to him but I seen three employees after him. I’m not sure if the one hit him with her net and that’s how they got him or if he crashed and one the groomer had grabbed him. This was a nightmare. They handed me back a half dead dying bird. Please don’t ever go to this store with your birds if you are local. After they handed me a dying bird they blamed me saying I was stressing him out. Who wouldn’t be stressed when you hand someone a bird who is limp and looks dead. Please learn from my mistake this place is unsafe and has no knowledge of parrot or bird care. Beware. I called police and rushed my bird to the avian veterinarians.
My birds are very well trained and I have had them done for 6 years in another shop where my groomer is on vacation. He does my grooming while I stand and watch every time. It’s your inexperienced untrained groomers and employees who can’t handle birds. Furthermore your shop is a disgusting, disgraceful smelly unorganized and unprofessional mess. Funny the store owner is blaming me because I have a flighted bird. No responsibility. Sorry its no excuse even a non flighted bird can still fly and as a bird store you should be aware of this fact. The store owner states I should learn to treat people with respect when he came out his office and had no clue what happened but started screaming at me.
As for being an owner go to my facebook page. My birds are very well taken care of, I have amazing bird friends and my house is very safe. Funny they been in my home 7 years and never a scratch one 15 minute visit to your store and your employees and fly sticky trap paper on ceiling almost killed my bird. Please go educate yourself before you even attempt to come at me with bird knowledge. I know way more then you. If you would like to bring a bird and match it to my birds skills then bring it on. My yard is always open. If you loose you close your store. Im well known and cared for in the bird world. Please you met me one time don't presume to act like you even have a clue who I am. After your employee hands me a lifeless bird. You need not only anger management but business management too ! wow ! Vic is a new level of crazy.
Why did you make phyllis take down all her disturbing pictures of you disgusting establishment and her review. Sadly I attempted to give your store a chance that was my biggest mistake. Its def a bird and puppy mill ran store.
Its really sad and pathetic your employees can't work when being watched. Funny their normal groomer, who is on vacation has been doing them for 6 years while I watch. My Avian Veterinarian at Animal and bird hospital in Cherry Hill Nj been handling all 6 of my birds and now my new addition my baby conure while I watch and stand right in the room. Poor excuse for your inadequate employees. Education and experience might help them eventually if they can manage to try and not kill a bird while learning. Victor have you ever heard of safety ? You can copy and paste but seems you can't actually read.

This store is absolutely amazing. The animals are well taken care of and healthy. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I was so impressed with all of the healthy products they have available for my pets. This is my new store and I recommend everyone check this place out. A +++

Best pet store in the tri state area! I am there atleast once a week. Victor, Nick, and crew are very knowledgeable and always have the best interest for your pet in mind.

It’s crazy and immature and also very telling that a company would reply to PHOTO evidence of a conure literally basically dead from an experience that it had at an establishment. Be better. Period. It hurt so much to see those photos cause of the love I have for my own birds. To tell people that they’re “bored” for leaving reviews about how terrible u treated a friend, is ignorant and easy response from a toddler but from an adult / establishment, it’s just unacceptable but anyone who sees these childish responses, would u gamble to bring ur beloved pet somewhere where they may get CAUGHT with a net and/or FREAKING TAPE ?? Hell no. An apology is necessary and possibly even a law suit to be real.
Also, to say someone needs therapy when u had TAPE on the ceiling which RIPPED THE BIRDS FEATHERS OFF ….. let that sink in….. , is insane. But I bet u won’t own up to that part. Who does that? Someone with a low IQ… talking about therapy why don’t yall get checked too while ur at it. Work on ur self awareness please lol
Edit: their response to this review is so lame im literally laughing so hard, that they think they can try to scare people from telling their story. This business really does seem like it’s ran by the lowest of the low, weirdest mfers. Sounds like Karens at this point.. but yeah I’m not gonna take down my review (also watch LITERALLY nothing will happen to me lol) because it’s facts there’s PROOF photos. So it’s not defamation it’s facts plus it’s something so sad that shouldn’t have even happened. A simple “sorry” from an adult or “I’ll do better”, would’ve been so much more mature and looked better on ur part. Don’t do something sus if you don’t want people spreading the word u freaking genius. ?

I highly recommend Garden State Pet Center for all your pet needs! I started coming here about a year ago after acquiring a bearded dragon whose diet required bugs. I now frequent the store at least twice a week. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and everyone I've encountered is highly knowledgeable about all types of animals. I also purchase my dog food and supplies here. Everything is fairly priced, and they consistently have sales and an excellent incentive program for dog food. The animals in the facility are well cared for, and I’m always impressed by how clean they keep the store despite the number of animals. Thank you so much, Garden State Pet Center, for always fulfilling my pets’ needs!

I wouldn’t even give this place a chance as they don’t allow owners in the room with groomers. One of the first tough lessons a lot of bird owners learn is do NOT let your bird out of your sight for vet visits or grooming. The surmounting negative reviews from bird owners and their horrible experiences should be a warning to heed! I’m even more surprised by the responses and their lack of accountability or willingness to learn and do better.

Had a bad experience grooming my bird here, the groomers were chit chatting and answering the phone while trying to groom my bird causing the stressful process to be longer than it needed to be. He handed me back my bird with the top vein portion of one of his nails bleeding quite a bit because he was not at all careful while using the drill. How do you hit the top of his nail with the drill?? I had to inspect and then point it out to him that my bird was bleeding even though he probably knew it happened and didn’t want to say anything. He took him back, put some quik stop on it and told me “oh, sometimes that happens” like it wasn’t his fault he was multi tasking and not being careful or something???? Nah, but it never happened at my previous groomer.
So I def need to find a new groomer now… seeing these various similar reviews. Ughhh!!!

GSPC is an awesome place to shop for your animals needs !! I have purchased Fish, lizards & Beardie’s from GSPC and Victor, Nick & Julia have educated and helped groom me into taking care of and providing a good life for my pets !!! Keep up the good work GSPC !!!

Reading the callous and insensitive review below of the treatment this lady's parrot received, how anyone could ever take their bird here for gropming, I will never know. Shaming the customer for your own mistakes is a horrible take. You need to take owmership when you screw up. Why would you ever have fly tape up in an area where birds are present? I take my bird to a groomer and I am always there when he grooms the bird. He would not have this any other way, as my presence actually calms the bird, not vice versa. Then for you to go on criticizing this womans Mental Health after she became upset at how you handled this situation? Be glad it wasn't my bird they did this to, or you would still be grazing the room for shards of your teeth. This is a repulsive and completely insensitive response to a customer who you clearly dropped the ball with. You need to reconcile this and check your behavior, this is far from her fault. Clearly you and your employees lack serious knowledge and competence when handling parrots. You need to wise up and get your mind right, not getting all pissy with customers who have been wronged by your incompetence and ignoorance.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Garden State Pet Center, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable staff who were eager to assist me with all my pet-related needs. The store is well-organized and clean, making it easy to find exactly what I was looking for.
The variety of products available at Garden State Pet Center is impressive. They have everything from high-quality pet food and toys to unique accessories and grooming supplies. I was particularly pleased with their selection of natural and organic pet foods, which can be hard to find in other stores.
One of the highlights of my visit was the live animal section. The animals appeared to be well-cared for and in excellent health. The staff members were very attentive and clearly passionate about the animals' welfare, providing valuable advice on care and maintenance.
Overall, Garden State Pet Center exceeded my expectations. The combination of excellent customer service, a wide range of high-quality products, and a genuine care for animals makes this store a standout. A lady posted a picture of her bird after an apparent grooming and he was almost dead! He couldn't even lift himself up he was so tired from flying, he was most likely hit with the net they were catching him with. He so ruffed up, that is NO way to treat a pet bird. This place should be ashamed of themselves and I hope nobody supports this business or if this is a decent business they would fire whoever did that to the bird immediately.
