Steve & Cookie's serves consistently fine food to locals and summer visitors alike in an elegant atmosphere, complete with two fireplaces that add a cozy, romantic touch in winter. The emphasis here is on comfort foods but with a gourmet influence: the macaroni and cheese appetizer is made with orecchiette pasta, cheddar and Gruyère cheeses and lobster meat. Next there's meatloaf with onions and mushroom pan gravy and Thanksgiving dinner, with turkey, dressing and the whole holiday shebang, served on Thursdays. Traditional American desserts, such as pecan pie, round out the menu. Diners are serenaded by some of the best jazz musicians at the South Jersey shore, who perform nightly in the piano lounge.
