Best experience ever! So after getting my brakes replaced at a dealer and spending about 1000 and was having serious issues after I got my car back. I decided to try out L&J because my dissatisfaction with VW directly. L&J uncovered a major issue with the caliper that was installed by the dealer. So I ended up paying again but this felt very good because they are honest. This was a game changer and I’m never going back to VW ever again!Service: Auto brake replacement

VOLVO OWNERS!Nothing short of outstanding, five star service. If you own a classic Volvo, as I do, you’ll want to listen.I can give some backstory: I was driving my car (1993 Volvo 240) in Maplewood one day last year and a gentleman came running across the street asking if it was for sale. I’m not selling. But we had a conversation and he was as passionate about the classic 240 as I am.He recommended L & J Motors as he has been a customer for many, many years. And he assured me that they know the car. It’s a special model, if you have ever owned one I’m sure you know what I mean. If you have never owned one I feel sorry. But I digress.I recently had a brake problem and brought it to my (former) local brake shop - national chain, blah, blah, blah. Well, they misdiagnosed the problem, then claimed that they could not find the part. I was lost for a moment - I had no options. Then I remembered last year when I ran into the man in Maplewood and sure enough I had saved his number. So I reached him and he told me again about L & J, and I booked the service.Well - Sam and his guys discovered that it was only the pads and rotor and I didn’t need an entire overhaul like I was quoted at the other shop. They had it repaired, honestly and fairly priced, the next day.It is rare to find a shop like this, I cannot recommend them highly enough. If you own a Volvo 240 you will not find a better shop in New Jersey.

TERRIBLE! I've been a loyal customer for over 5 years and have reached a point where I've now had enough. It seems the staff is getting more and more rude and negligent with each visit. Since last November I've been to their shop back to back over 6 times!I recently took my car in AGAIN for service because I noticed it shaking. Their team serviced it and not even a week later its shaking again. I call Sam and he informs me this new issue is not related to the service they provided. When I tell him I haven't driven my car since they serviced it, he insists and tells me there's nothing they can do and proceeds to hang up the phone on me! I found this to be BEYOND disrespectful as I'm someone whose been paying and trusting them for years.Clearly they do NOT value their customers and I prefer to go where I am appreciated. I'll also be filing a claim because I do believe malpractice and negligence is involved.

After two other supposed Audi experts tried and failed to fix an engine issue with our 2015 Audi A3, we brought the car to L&J. Lee spent the better part of a full day diagnosing the problem which ended up being an intermittent failure in a vacuum pump. This required a mix of modern, electronic diagnostics and old-school dial gauges. They got it done and at a very fair price.Service: Engine repair

This is where I always take my car for service or repairs for the past 4 years. They had to fix my tire; which could not be fixed. So, I ended up buying a new tire from L & J motors. I also asked them to check everything because I was going on a long trip. The young fellow, named Sam, called me around 10 a.m. to give me a quote which I agreed. However, his uncle called me about an hour later to tell me he had test driven the car and it needed to have a valve and another part replaced. Eventually, the price tripled. I was very disappointed with what I was charged. I usually am extremely satisfied with their work and pricing. This time, I was not and that is the reason why I gave them a 3 stars.

L and J Motors has been servicing my Volvos for over 20 years. The quality, diagnostics, efficiency and pricing are the best of any repair shop I have used. They take a caring attitude about my cars, looking for any warning signs that could lead to a problem. My cars are older and they need a little TLC. Lee, Kenny and Sam provide that extra level of care. I recommend them without reservation as a premium auto repair shop.

L and J has been my car repair shop for twenty years and they have never disappointed me with their service, courtesy, and fair pricing. Lee, Kenny and Sam go out of their way to service my cars promptly and properly. I drive older Volvos and they are experts at diagnosing and correctly repairing what is wrong at that time. They also make suggestions for potential service and maintenance work that helps keep all of my cars in the best running condition. I give L and J Motors top marks in every area. Matt W

Didn't even want to give 1 star. They don't deserve it. Brought my honda accord to them. I was double charged for breaks and rotors. While changing everything out they broken my thermostat and attempted to charge me another $350 on top of the $1200 I was just charged for breaks on a honda accord. They are rippoffs and super expensive. The young man that works behind the counter is the owner's son and she should get s grammy award for being arrogant and rude. No one wants to take responsibility for their actions. If they broke it they should fix it. Furthermore customers dont have a bathroom to use while car is being serviced. Take your business elsewhere whether you have a foreign or American car.
