Extremely Dissatisfied with L&J Motor's Incompetence and Exploitative Practices
I recently had a highly disappointing experience with L&J Motor and feel compelled to share the details to warn others about their questionable business practices. I brought my vehicle to L&J Motor to fix a coolant leak issue, for which I was charged an exorbitant amount of $2200. To my utter disbelief, after paying this hefty sum, I discovered that my car still had the same problem!
Not only was I shocked by the incompetence displayed by L&J Motor's mechanics, but I was even more appalled by their attempt to charge me again for a problem they failed to resolve initially. It is beyond comprehension that a reputable auto repair shop would resort to such exploitative behavior, attempting to squeeze even more money out of their already dissatisfied customers.
The lack of professionalism demonstrated by L&J Motor is simply unacceptable. As a customer who placed my trust in their expertise and expected a satisfactory resolution, I am now left with a lingering issue and an empty wallet. I approached them with the hope of a reliable fix, only to be deceived and left in a worse situation than before.
Furthermore, the customer service at L&J Motor was abysmal. The staff displayed a dismissive attitude and seemed uninterested in rectifying their mistake. Instead of acknowledging their failure, they were quick to push blame elsewhere and attempted to deflect responsibility.
Based on my experience, I strongly advise anyone seeking automotive repairs to avoid L&J Motor at all costs. It is clear that their primary concern lies in maximizing profits rather than ensuring customer satisfaction. The exorbitant charges, coupled with their inability to deliver on promised results, make it evident that they lack the necessary skills and integrity to provide quality service.
In conclusion, L&J Motor's unprofessionalism, incompetence, and exploitative practices have left me deeply dissatisfied. Save yourself from unnecessary expenses, frustration, and disappointment by seeking a more reputable and trustworthy auto repair shop elsewhere.

Solid work, in a timely manner for a reasonable price considering they are dealing with foreign cars.

Best experience ever! So after getting my brakes replaced at a dealer and spending about 1000 and was having serious issues after I got my car back. I decided to try out L&J because my dissatisfaction with VW directly. L&J uncovered a major issue with the caliper that was installed by the dealer. So I ended up paying again but this felt very good because they are honest. This was a game changer and I’m never going back to VW ever again!Service: Auto brake replacement

VOLVO OWNERS!Nothing short of outstanding, five star service. If you own a classic Volvo, as I do, you’ll want to listen.I can give some backstory: I was driving my car (1993 Volvo 240) in Maplewood one day last year and a gentleman came running across the street asking if it was for sale. I’m not selling. But we had a conversation and he was as passionate about the classic 240 as I am.He recommended L & J Motors as he has been a customer for many, many years. And he assured me that they know the car. It’s a special model, if you have ever owned one I’m sure you know what I mean. If you have never owned one I feel sorry. But I digress.I recently had a brake problem and brought it to my (former) local brake shop - national chain, blah, blah, blah. Well, they misdiagnosed the problem, then claimed that they could not find the part. I was lost for a moment - I had no options. Then I remembered last year when I ran into the man in Maplewood and sure enough I had saved his number. So I reached him and he told me again about L & J, and I booked the service.Well - Sam and his guys discovered that it was only the pads and rotor and I didn’t need an entire overhaul like I was quoted at the other shop. They had it repaired, honestly and fairly priced, the next day.It is rare to find a shop like this, I cannot recommend them highly enough. If you own a Volvo 240 you will not find a better shop in New Jersey.

TERRIBLE! I've been a loyal customer for over 5 years and have reached a point where I've now had enough. It seems the staff is getting more and more rude and negligent with each visit. Since last November I've been to their shop back to back over 6 times!I recently took my car in AGAIN for service because I noticed it shaking. Their team serviced it and not even a week later its shaking again. I call Sam and he informs me this new issue is not related to the service they provided. When I tell him I haven't driven my car since they serviced it, he insists and tells me there's nothing they can do and proceeds to hang up the phone on me! I found this to be BEYOND disrespectful as I'm someone whose been paying and trusting them for years.Clearly they do NOT value their customers and I prefer to go where I am appreciated. I'll also be filing a claim because I do believe malpractice and negligence is involved.
