Renting a car here was such a bad experience. Chris was no help at all. He gave me nothing but problems and hurdles trying to rent a car as if he didn’t want to give it to me or help me. I expressed how I did not want an electric car and that’s all he continued to offer me as if that was the only car they had. I was in a difficult situation while trying to rent the car for my children and me and he only made me feel worse. Service was terrible.

I don't normally post things but unfortunately I had a bad experience with Hertz this past week. I recieved a 2023 Bolt EV. Upon recieving the vehicle I expressed my apprehensions as I have never even been in an EV car. After I arrived home and did a bit of research I realized there was no way I could travel with this car, it only charges to 186 miles. Called Hertz back and was told I would be charged about $30 extra a day to swap out. That would cost me an extra $100. This car was AWFUL! My 2 hr 30 min trip turned into 7 hrs( sitting in a cold car charging it). Spent double what I would have on gas, and missed a very important meeting. After explaining all the hardships with Hertz customer service and was displeased with the 50% discount they were willing to give me. I just wanted to speak with a person in the corporate office. That apparently is not possible, only by email, which I sent only to be bounced back to regular customer service. It was a really inconvenient, frustrating, and overall exhausting situation, in which only I lost out on money and time.

I had a pleasant experience with hertz in maplewood besides the interactions I had with Ciara on 2 separate occasions. She is unprofessional and lacks customer service skills. She speaks in a condescending tone and flat out lies. I spoke with her on the phone about extending my rental and wanting to know the dollar amount I would be billed. It was like pulling teeth finally She told me a dollar amount. Once I returned the rental I was billed a higher amount and I said hey you quoted me a price which was lower She literally said "I didn't tell you that" a bold face lie. Also in my presence another customer was having trouble securing her rental for whatever reason instead of deescalating the situation she got very defensive and obviously upset the customer and when the customer stepped outside Ciara had the audacity to say out loud"going back and forth with me AINT gone get you no rental" I felt like this was very unprofessional. If Ciara doesn't appreciate her job at Hertz she should find another job. Also I couldn't find what my deposit being billed from my checking account so I asked what can I search it under in my banking app she says hertz I asked do you guys bill under a different name? She flat out says I don't know. I usually don't write reviews but my experience with Ciara was very off putting.

**** DONOT RENT*** Staff is very unprofessional and car rentals are either not clean with a bad smell or damaged. I witnessed the employee cuss out a customer because she made the customer wait too long. This is a horrible place and needs to be shut down.

Rental agent by the name of vena kidd was so polite, patient, kind, and knowledgeable about my concerns and had a smile on her face at 8 am. I appreciate that!!! She had me checked in for my rental and on my way within 10 mins, now thats great service!! Thank you young lady and hertz business dept

I always have a great experience with Hertz in Maplewood. The team there, especially Vena and Cierra, provides consistently excellent customer service. They create a welcoming environment and are always ready to assist. What truly impressed me was their effective communication - whether it's explaining rental details or providing updates on your reservation, they excel in this aspect. Overall, Hertz in Maplewood offers a top-notch rental experience that I highly recommend.

All staff down to management are the worst, it was much better when Chrystal use to manage this location. Customer service is is a huge lack. Long wait, disorganized, and manager is oblivious to customers concern.

The place is disorganized. The staff is nice enough but there is always a long wait, cars switched out and they seem unprepared for when people arrive. Just poorly operated and if it was not close I would not use, in fact when there is more time I use the competitor that is also in Maplewood since they are run better. Again, not really a comment on the staff, who are usually polite and courteous, but you should never have to wait so long to pick up cars that are reserved in advance on business accounts.

I have rented rather frequently from the Maplewood, NJ location. At times it has been less than satisfying. Recently, however, I have experienced exceptional service. Hertz should be proud of the courteous and professional service your associates at this location provide to your customers.

Worst customer service experience. Arrived for my confirmed reservation and the apathetic employee helping was half asleep (at 10am) and said “oh. I was gonna call you but I got busy. We don’t actually have any cars. Probably not until after 1. You can call another location.” I asked if she’d call for me, she does but apparently no one has cars and her reasoning was everyone going back to school. It’s mid May. No one there could offer a suggestion other than waiting four hours. Never again with Hertz.

I was just in that office and you guys need to ban customers who are rude to the workers, i witnessed a man giving this young lady a hard time. Using his “PRESIDENTIAL GOLD “ Status. Him and his wife, was acting entitled. I don’t want to rent from hertz if you have customers like that. That young lady was doing her job, on top of that another GOLD member customer was giving a gentleman a hard time because she refused to read the receipt, Hertz please inform your gold customers better and if rude customers are harassing the workers like this they need to be banned officially or have they status revoked. They can spend all the money they want, but if you can’t be understanding and KNOW WHAT you reserve or what you paying. use your own car putting that money into a rental.

Being renting here for a while now being a traveling Nurse in NJ, the 2 stars Is simply because of this female front staff, That mostly seats on the right when you walk in that is so RUDE and very unprofessional. The Male staff that mostly seats to the left , kudos to him, welcomes customers , gives you options, suggestions to better make you satisfy, he would even go speak to his manager for a way to better Assist you.But the Female staff that seats to his LEFT , is so RUDE. Has ZERO customer service, walked in one time after booking on the app, got to hertz for pick up for her to hit me with straight we have no cars , NO REMORSE, could have been “ i am very sorry we have no cars at this time, our other locations which i might suggest that you also try might be sold out or is sold out , i am truly sorry about this” but this staff is the worst she said to call customer service and let them know and that was all.When you walk in she doesn’t acknowledge you, looked at you like you are less of a human, i had to try their other location recently which is Union NJ, and very unfortunate she was also there.I ordered a Large Sedan, mind you they have no Large sedan, she went ahead and pull up a medium suv Mitsubishi WITHOUT-even checking with me if that is okay with me ! After I noticed this , i told her i do not want this car, guess what she said …….. , “ Ok cool” and voided my rental, WITH NO REMORSE OR OTHER options! She did not offer me any upgrades to see if i will like to add some more money for another car, being a travel nurse i would have no issues to pay for an upgrade but because this girl is TOO RUDE , i had to just walk away , knowing how tired i was after a 13 hours night shift.Moral of this is please , if you have any other options , go and rent else where , try enterprise , only reason why i am stuck with this poor and rude fellow is because my job gives us a 20% discount if not i will Not Dare to tolerate her ridiculous customer service.
