Every time I book there I regret it. But it’s so close to my house rather found to Newark. So it’s the second time I booked the manager special. What is ok. I don’t mind if k get surprised with a car. And yes I know it could be electric. But I worked at sixt as a good representative you ask your customer where they go to find out what is best for the customer. Nothing no questions asked. He gave my husband an electric car. He never drove one. No introduction no where to charge. Only thing he weit can’t charge at Tesla station. Wow. Ok. Use Google that’s what he told him. He asked for a patrol car the guy said yes for an extra charge. Are you for real. No you should have at least an option. We were about to drive 4h. If he would have asked he would understand, the whole trip turned into a 8h trip because we couldn’t find a supercharger. It was horrible. I was so mad, we couldn’t find the plug. Horrible. Not the first time. The service is just terrible. Everytime we book a car the representative is not doing their job. Never again. I will book in Newark from now on.

Employees at the front desk are rude and don’t respond properly. They accept reservations online but just deny saying they don’t have a car

They simply cheated me.
Pushed me to return a car in Newark, charged me for insurance I did t want and gave me a car with no gas and I got charged for that.
They do not answer phones and are ignorant.
Only rent from Newark

Very dissatisfied with service. They tell you one thing and do another. There’s no way to call directly so you have to revisit the place.

Renting a car here was such a bad experience. Chris was no help at all. He gave me nothing but problems and hurdles trying to rent a car as if he didn’t want to give it to me or help me. I expressed how I did not want an electric car and that’s all he continued to offer me as if that was the only car they had. I was in a difficult situation while trying to rent the car for my children and me and he only made me feel worse. Service was terrible.

I don't normally post things but unfortunately I had a bad experience with Hertz this past week. I recieved a 2023 Bolt EV. Upon recieving the vehicle I expressed my apprehensions as I have never even been in an EV car. After I arrived home and did a bit of research I realized there was no way I could travel with this car, it only charges to 186 miles. Called Hertz back and was told I would be charged about $30 extra a day to swap out. That would cost me an extra $100. This car was AWFUL! My 2 hr 30 min trip turned into 7 hrs( sitting in a cold car charging it). Spent double what I would have on gas, and missed a very important meeting. After explaining all the hardships with Hertz customer service and was displeased with the 50% discount they were willing to give me. I just wanted to speak with a person in the corporate office. That apparently is not possible, only by email, which I sent only to be bounced back to regular customer service. It was a really inconvenient, frustrating, and overall exhausting situation, in which only I lost out on money and time.

I had a pleasant experience with hertz in maplewood besides the interactions I had with Ciara on 2 separate occasions. She is unprofessional and lacks customer service skills. She speaks in a condescending tone and flat out lies. I spoke with her on the phone about extending my rental and wanting to know the dollar amount I would be billed. It was like pulling teeth finally She told me a dollar amount. Once I returned the rental I was billed a higher amount and I said hey you quoted me a price which was lower She literally said "I didn't tell you that" a bold face lie. Also in my presence another customer was having trouble securing her rental for whatever reason instead of deescalating the situation she got very defensive and obviously upset the customer and when the customer stepped outside Ciara had the audacity to say out loud"going back and forth with me AINT gone get you no rental" I felt like this was very unprofessional. If Ciara doesn't appreciate her job at Hertz she should find another job. Also I couldn't find what my deposit being billed from my checking account so I asked what can I search it under in my banking app she says hertz I asked do you guys bill under a different name? She flat out says I don't know. I usually don't write reviews but my experience with Ciara was very off putting.

**** DONOT RENT*** Staff is very unprofessional and car rentals are either not clean with a bad smell or damaged. I witnessed the employee cuss out a customer because she made the customer wait too long. This is a horrible place and needs to be shut down.

Rental agent by the name of vena kidd was so polite, patient, kind, and knowledgeable about my concerns and had a smile on her face at 8 am. I appreciate that!!! She had me checked in for my rental and on my way within 10 mins, now thats great service!! Thank you young lady and hertz business dept

I always have a great experience with Hertz in Maplewood. The team there, especially Vena and Cierra, provides consistently excellent customer service. They create a welcoming environment and are always ready to assist. What truly impressed me was their effective communication - whether it's explaining rental details or providing updates on your reservation, they excel in this aspect. Overall, Hertz in Maplewood offers a top-notch rental experience that I highly recommend.

All staff down to management are the worst, it was much better when Chrystal use to manage this location. Customer service is is a huge lack. Long wait, disorganized, and manager is oblivious to customers concern.
