Have had the pleasure of having my taxes prepared by Dolores Roy for many years at the local office in my area. She is a true professional who explains the new tax codes and walks me thru the process effortlessly saving me the stress of having to do this on my own. Only had a issue with my return once in the 40 years I’ve been using HR Block and it was resolved by them to my complete satisfaction.

H&r block was very courteous and professional and knowledgeable about taxes. My only complaint is how expensive it was. I'm going to try to do my own taxes next year

This was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with taxes. The only reason I wound up at this particular H & R Block location was because the other receptionists at other local brances were so horrible and had so much attitude, they should all be fired. They also screwed up the on-line scheduling so that up until the last minute I was not quite sure where I was going for my appointment. I had to wait a few minutes when I got there, for a small office, there were too many people in there for my comfort (COVID-19 related). But the worst was yet to come. Tim Dickinson gave the initial impression that he was not happy to be at work and did not consider my fiance' and I "worthy" clients. He quoted us between $200 and $300 for a simple individual return -- 3 W-2s and 3 K-1s. He wound up charging almost $400, and I had to negotiate a $25 discount. He did the least possible work and apparently is incompetent in terms of health insurance and New Jersey tax law. He did not know that NJ still charges a penalty for not having health insurance for 10 months of the year. I explained that we had issues with this and had not received documentation from one employer but he could not be bothered to take the appropriate action -- putting it aside for follow-up --NO; contacting the employer -- NO; reviewing the months carefully with us: NO. He could not give a hoot and just said --"Oh if the IRS wants more information they will contact you." The d*** pants still did not realize this was a state issue and not a Federal one. He gave out the least possible effort, he saved us not one dime, did not really look for deductions or ask any questions. The only time he made any effort was to persuade us to take an Emerald card to get our refund quicker. This is one of those debit cards chock full of fees. I guess he gets a commission on that. Well, you can't fix stupid right? I had given him all the documents stapled and clipped in good order, he gave them back as a total mess, with unrelated docs stapled in the middle of the page so it was nearly impossible to take it apart. I would not recommend anyone go to this office. P.S. -- The "Sara" who responded to this review directed me to a system of endless phone prompts. Don't bother calling their customer service line; after going through 5 voicemails when I finally got a representative the phone line was full of static and when she was supposed to fix it, she disconnected me. So much for H & R style customer service.
